Chapter 205: Chapter 204: Enhanced "Premonition"
The yakuza lying in wait beneath these traps, ready to ambush, were in for the worst of it.
They could only watch in despair as their lives slipped away along with the broken "ancient" mechanisms.
The two entered a [Passageway] where they were immediately met with a dead-end.
Accelerator walked up to the wall, gave it a tap, and what seemed to be a solid dead-end crumbled to dust.
What lay beyond was quite the bizarre sight, prompting Eri to voice her concern.
"It...it's moving..."
The passage before them twisted and squirmed like a giant worm, constantly shifting and distorting.
This effect was caused by Shie Hassaikai's leader, whose Quirk, known as Treasure Chest Monster, allowed him to "enter" and "manipulate" objects freely. Normally weak, this Quirk had been massively enhanced by the power boost from Fantasy Hand.
It turned the entire basement into a living maze of concrete.
But Accelerator observed the shifting patterns with curiosity. He wasn't in a hurry and preferred to wait for his enemies to make a move rather than deal with unnecessary hassle.
After all, this time there were quite a few opponents. Taking them down all at once would be more convenient.
Suddenly, the ground beneath their feet gave way, and they fell three or four floors—a height that could easily be fatal for an average person without any landing skills.
Right after, the enemy's cruel laughter echoed through the air, savoring the moment their "prey" fell into the trap.
"Hehehe, look! Prey dropping from above! Hahaha!"
Several enemies were gathered, all wearing the signature medieval-style bird masks of Shie Hassaikai's high-ranking members.
Eri clutched the hem of his shirt, peeking out with one eye covered, while Accelerator shot back with a crazed grin.
"Now this number makes things a bit more interesting."
Before he even finished speaking, the "wall" above them began rippling, like a pond disturbed by a stone, twisting into a giant concrete arm bigger than a grown man, aiming to strike.
Half of Treasure Chest Monster's body emerged from the wall, his face twisted with rage as he sneered.
"If you want to blame someone, blame your own bad luck, kid!"
Seeing this attack made Accelerator chuckle. With just a light touch, the ridiculous concrete arm crumbled to dust, leaving only bits and pieces scattered on the ground.
His laughter only fueled the anger of these gang leaders. Most of them deeply despised professional heroes, especially someone brazen enough to act this way in their own territory.
None of these guys were known for having a good temper—maybe they only softened up a little for their young boss. In reality, most of the Shie Hassaikai members had no idea about what happened in the Shinjuku District. The few who did were either Chisaki Kai's core team members or dedicated "soldiers."
One of the leaders, a fraudster turned trusted confidant named Onimoto Makoto, spoke up, unable to understand or hide his irritation at this guy barging in with just Eri in tow.
"This guy doesn't look like the 'Symbol of Peace'—since when did we have to handle trash like this? What are the lookouts even doing?!"
Among the leaders, one looked like a fighter through and through. Even with a mask on, his long, flowing golden hair was unmistakable. Wearing metal fighting gloves, this muscular man launched the first attack.
"Enough talking! Why the hell are we wasting time here?"
"I'll beat him down and bring him to the boss myself!"
"The best way to solve this is to use our own fists and smash the other guy!"
"Now, feel the pain!"
He laughed wildly, swinging punch after punch without holding back.
The punches came down hard and fast, creating a blur of fists. Yet, despite the dozens of heavy blows, none of them landed. This time, it wasn't because Accelerator dodged with sheer speed.
It was a result of his enhanced calculation skills from the Shinjuku battle, where his heightened perception had evolved. He now used the flow of air around him during a fight to anticipate his opponent's moves.
Instead of simply dodging, this was a much more powerful and efficient use of his abilities.
Since coming to this world, Accelerator had been working hard to improve his close-range combat skills. Finally, thanks to "digesting" the AFO Quirk, he could now use his reflexes to make all vectors within a certain range become part of his muscle memory.
This allowed him to ignore inertia and the normal process of building and releasing force, taking things to a higher level. Even against incredibly fast opponents he couldn't otherwise touch, he now had the advantage in close combat.
If Kamijou Touma's ability to sense danger was limited to long-range attacks, Accelerator's refined "application" of this skill was a more powerful, enhanced version, almost touching on the realm of the "unknown."
The leader's punch clearly relied on twisting his torso to throw left and right hooks, so Accelerator, trained by the best close-combat heroes, responded simply and efficiently.
Accelerator's once pale but no longer slender arms tightened slightly as he drew back his right fist.
He easily aimed for the enemy's vital spot.
An unbeatable invisible force suddenly shot out.
As this massive power collided with flesh, what was meant to just knock down the opponent transformed into a burst of bright red blood under Accelerator's ability.
Even during his time in Academy City, Accelerator had the power to kill with just a touch of his finger.
After enduring much training and various battle situations, he had evolved into an even stronger version of himself.
The actions of this gang member, akin to those of AFO, were as reckless as sticking one's head into the mouth of a yawning lion.
Such a way to die would make the pain feel a bit less intense.
