Chapter 115: Face Off (3)
Zoe's warning rang sharply in his mind, just as Noah felt an icy chill trace the back of his neck.
"You're too young to fight me..." Lucas Graham's cold voice echoed in his ear as he stood right behind him.
Noah calmly smiled as he replied, "You're too old to fight me, old man..."
He still couldn't believe Lucas Graham had underestimated him, not killing him outright, but choosing instead to mock him.
Unbeknownst to Lucas, another relic weapon—a dagger shining with a sharp blue glow—appeared in Noah's other hand. He drove it into Lucas Graham's waist without turning to look at him.
And before Lucas could react, Noah plunged his second dagger straight into his heart.
Lucas Graham's wide, stunned eyes locked onto his. Within a second, veins ignited with cracking fire, and his entire body burst into flames before crumbling to ash.
He couldn't save the actual Lucas Graham. Still, at least the man would no longer suffer, no longer be a prisoner in his own body, because the devil had used his body as a vessel to bring atrocities in this world.
Ash scattered into the air like snow as Noah stood still, the twin daggers flickering with fading blue light in his hands.
The silence that followed was deafening, thick with disbelief, grief, and the stench of burning evil.
Jason was the first to move, stumbling forward from his corner, wide-eyed and breathing hard.
"No-Noah You… you finally killed him," he muttered, not in accusation, but in shock. "Was… was that really Lucas?"
Noah didn't answer right away. His fists clenched tightly around the hilts of the daggers before he stored his relic weapon back in his mind space.
He kept his eyes on the fading ashes, unwilling to look away until every last trace was gone.
"He was already dead the moment that devil chose him as a host," Noah finally said, voice low and controlled through every word. "I only gave him peace."
Jason didn't push further. He swallowed hard and lowered his eyes, silently honoring the man who'd once been a commanding legend and the price it had taken to free him.
Then Kinzley stepped forward, calm and composed.
"You did what had to be done," she said softly. "Lucas Graham was lost long before this night. If you hadn't killed him, that devil would've escaped and taken more lives."
Her long words surprised Noah as he turned to see him standing a step behind.
"I know. Thank you, Kinzley...." he said as a smile formed on his lips. He was so happy that this woman spoke to him.
Jason looked between the two of them, then back at the scorched ground. "So what now?"
"Now?" Noah's eyes hardened again, steel returning to his tone. "Now we need to clean this place..."
After Noah's success eliminated Lucas Graham, all the special forces hiding in a few places, who couldn't move under Noah's mental control, were shocked.
They all could only exchange words in shock at one another beside them.
"What... what just happened? Did he really just kill our leader, the highest military commander of this nation, so easily?"
"This can't be real... Lucas was untouchable. Unkillable. How did this kid kill him?"
"How could our leader die, burn into ash?"
"Lucas Graham ruled over armies. Broke men in seconds. Survived wars. And Noah killed him with two strikes. No hesitation. No mercy... How could he do that?"
"Noah… he's not human. No one moves like that. No one kills like that... With a blue weapon? What kind of dagger is that?"
"Damn! Why am I unable to move? Why can't I even move my finger?"
"Oh shit... Noah, looking at us. Ssst... Don't say anything. He might kill us too..."
...
Noah completely ignored them, letting their gossip drift around him like background noise. Honestly, their chatter was amusing.
He wasn't worried about them seeing him fight, because later... the cleaning crew would wipe their memories clean. No one will remember what he was doing, killing the nation's military leader.
After a few more minutes, he finally asked Zoe to assign a cleaning crew to take care of the crime scene; he needed to return to Golden Phoenix Tower.
Earlier, he'd fought with Lucas Graham and had forgotten entirely about his dinner plans with Edgar. Now, he was already five minutes late.
He turned toward Kinzley, who stood silently in the corner, her face unreadable.
"Can you send me to Golden Phoenix Tower? To my condo?" Noah asked.
"Sure—"
Kinzley replied casually, waving her delicate hand through the air. A shimmering portal flickered into existence nearby, drawing gasps of shock from Jason and the others who witnessed it.
And then,
Noah turned to Jason. "You stay here and help the others…"
"Y-Yes…" Jason stammered, his voice betraying his shock. His wide eyes remained locked on the swirling portal in front of him.
"Kinzley, are you coming with me?" Noah asked, pausing just before he stepped through.
Moments ago, he'd noticed he'd leveled up—twice. Now, he was sure his level was high enough for the Black Team to handle his protection.
"I'll stay here and wait for the others. But I'll meet you later, sir…" Her smile sparked a thrill of anticipation in Noah's chest.
"I'll be waiting for you." He waved casually and walked through the portal.
...
By the time Noah appeared in his living room, Edgar, who had already been waiting there, was visibly shocked.
"S-Sir? Why are you using the portal?" Edgar asked, his voice slightly trembling, unable to maintain his usual composure. "Did something happen on your way here, Sir...?"
Noah smiled calmly. He had intentionally told Zoe not to tell Edgar or Matthew about what had happened. He wanted to avoid unnecessary panic.
He walked past Edgar straight to the dining table, where fresh, mouthwatering food had already been served. Just the sight of it made his hunger surge.
"Sir? I'm being serious," Edgar pressed, stepping forward and eyeing Noah from head to toe, trying to check if he was injured.
Edgar knew that if Noah had used a portal, it meant the Black Team, and possibly the higher-ups, had gotten involved. That could only mean serious trouble.
