Bloodline Reckoning: The System Made Me Filthy Rich

Chapter 114: Face Off (2)

Lucas Graham's confidence in his reflection had waned, though his expression had grown more rigid.

"Now I believe you're one of them..." he said coldly, his voice slicing through the room like ice, sending a chill straight to everyone's core.

Still, Noah remained calm, a slight smile on his lips. Completely unaffected by the devilish aura that Lucas emitted.

"I don't understand what you're trying to say, Uncle Lucas... And why do you look so frightening? As if you've seen someone you didn't want to meet..."

Noah replied, even though deep down, he knew Lucas was about to uncover the truth, that he was one of the hunters chasing devils like him.

Lucas no longer radiated that crushing pressure that had tortured everyone moments before.

But his voice, cold and lethal, cut through the silence as he ordered, "Kill them both!" It only added to the room's suffocating tension.

'Oh fuck, Noah... this old man's going to kill us. Hurry, throw me your sniper rifle...' Jason's frantic voice echoed inside Noah's mind.

Noah only smiled. He pulled out his sniper and tossed it to Jason without even looking back, shocking everyone in the room who saw the weapon flash through the air.

Not only were the military special forces stunned, but even Lucas Graham froze. His eyes narrowed as he instinctively stepped back from Noah, now shielded by four men.

The tension exploded as gunfire rang out.

Jason was already shooting, taking down the soldier who had drawn a bead on Noah.

'Damn it… Hide, Noah! Are you trying to say that you can stop the bullet...?'

Jason shouted as he darted to a better position, hunting down his targets. But he couldn't help glancing back, frustrated and concerned to see Noah still standing in the middle of the vast hall like he was bulletproof.

'Noah! You can see the bullet?' Jason was shocked beyond words to see Noah effortlessly move the moment a bullet was about to hit his skull.

'Stop worrying about me. But, you need to focus on everyone else... just left this old bastard for myself,' Noah said casually.

Noah's eyes flicked to his system before locking onto Lucas Graham, still staring at him in stunned disbelief.

His smile widened when he saw it: Lucas's eyes no longer looked human. They were the same as the young devil's, the one Noah had killed days ago.

'Not bad… I get so much experience killing all these people,' Noah muttered inwardly, still moving effortlessly as he dodged a flurry of bullets aimed directly at him.

He couldn't help but be amused by the panicked whispers echoing from the corners, coming from Lucas Graham's men, hidden with their weapons drawn and trembling.

"What the hell? Is he even human? How can he dodge our bullets?"

"I know. It's like he has eyes in the back of his head."

"Can someone try a direct attack? Maybe close combat could take him down..."

"You'll be dead before you even get near Noah. Jason's covering him too damn well."

"For God's sake... Can someone please deal with Jason!"

"Fuck all of you! Did you forget who he is? You think he's just some guy? He's the top sniper in our entire division. No one's ever beaten his record!"

"Damn it! How did Noah even have a sniper rifle on him? No one found it when they captured them..."

"I know, right? There's something seriously off about him. Noah's definitely not human..."

...

Noah was thoroughly enjoying their cursing and desperate chatter.

Gunfire and screams erupted again as Jason continued to shoot down anyone who dared to move.

"Alright, guys... Your time's up. This time, it's my turn to make a move..." Noah loudly said.

And in the blink of an eye, he vanished, only to reappear right in front of the four men guarding Lucas Graham.

Their eyes widened in shock. None of them could believe he was suddenly standing just steps away when only seconds ago he'd been over fifteen meters from them.

Before they could react, two sharp daggers appeared in Noah's hands. He moved with such speed, fast enough to slit a man's throat.

Blood gushed out instantly, and in a blink, two massive bodies collapsed to the floor.

Everyone who witnessed it stood frozen in shock, and two more dropped dead.

Within just a minute, four ultimate revenge notifications flashed across Noah's line of sight.

He feels in a good mood, as he happily said, "Old man, why do you look so shocked?"

Noah smiled as he caught Lucas staring at him; no longer the same man as before. His confidence had vanished. But only for a moment, before a mocking gleam flickered in Lucas Graham's eyes.

"You're powerful, Noah. But you're still young, and your combat skills are leagues behind mine. And, let me tell you, young man... You won't kill me with mere daggers..."

Lucas chuckled darkly, stepping forward, ready to strike. But before he could land a hit, a bullet came flying toward him, forcing him to twist away.

He shot a deadly glare toward Jason at the far end of the hall.

"I'll kill you, Jason! How dare you interrupt us?"

In an instant, Lucas changed targets. He no longer wanted to kill Noah; he wanted Jason.

'Damn it, Jason! You know he's a devil, and you still provoked him.' Noah cursed him in his mind. The plan shifted in an instant as he dashed after Lucas.

But then,

No matter how fast Noah was, Lucas was reacting faster. In the blink of an eye, he reached Jason's position, leaving Jason frozen in fear.

Noah clenched his jaw and pushed forward with all his strength, but he froze mid-stride when a familiar figure appeared, stepping in front of Jason to shield him.

Lucas Graham came to a hard stop, his eyes narrowing in shock as he stared at the woman now in his path.

'K-Kinzley…' Noah muttered in surprise. He hadn't expected her to show up, let alone to protect Jason.

Still, Noah didn't falter; he pressed on, a sharp dagger glowing blue in his hand. He will stab Lucas from behind, taking his devil's souls.

But as if sensing imminent danger, Lucas Graham vanished again, reappearing several meters away, avoiding Noah and Kinzley.

Lucas Graham's eyes are sharply fixed on Noah and the woman now standing a few meters ahead of him.

"Kinzley, I'm glad you came..." Noah said, throwing her a glance before continuing. "Please provide cover for Jason. I'll handle that lunatic Lucas myself."

"Good luck, sir—"

Jason, who witnessed death approaching him faster and also fast enough to slip away from him, was still shocked. Now, he looked at the short blonde hair standing before him, shielding him from danger.

Hearing her name, Kinzley, suddenly triggered memories of a conversation he'd had with Edgar and Matthew just days ago.

'This woman… Is she Noah's fiancée?' Jason wondered, trying to catch a glimpse of her face, but he couldn't. 'My God, Noah's maybe more powerful...but this woman's presence is unmistakably something else! Her aura is more intense than Noah's. Did she just make Lucas hesitate to attack and retreat?'

Jason tried to speak to her, but was distracted as he saw Noah advancing, chasing after Lucas, fearless and agile.

Then the angelic voice of the woman before him echoed confidently, "Sir, no need to worry. He won't be able to slip out of this building. I've already sealed it…"

"Thank you, K!" Noah called back with a grin, hearing Kinzley's loud warning.

He stood just steps away from Lucas, his smile widening as he watched the old man's dark expression crack and pale.

Noah no longer wanted to waste a second. He tapped into his powerful mind, locking the rest of Lucas's people in place. Now, they could do nothing but stare, frozen. He'd deal with them later.

"You can't escape, Velmoryx…" Noah said coldly. "Either come out on your own, or I'll drag you out myself. And you know that'll hurt."

He still held on to hope that maybe, just maybe, he could rescue Lucas Graham's real body from this devil.

Because if he struck now, it could annihilate the host. But if the devil emerged on its own, the old man might still survive.

There's no reaction from the man before Noah. His dark eyes remained locked on him, unblinking and motionless.

'What is this old man trying to do, Zoe?'

After several tense seconds, there was no reply from Zoe. It instantly reminded Noah of his last encounter with the young devil, when Zoe had vanished, their link abruptly severed.

Noah tried to keep his tone steady, but the tremble in his voice gave him away. 'Don't tell me you've disappeared again, Zoe?'

'No, I'm still here. But... he seems to be signaling someone. I'm trying to follow it, but I can't trace it…'

Noah felt a chill rush through him. 'You mean... he's calling for backup?'

'He's trying to transmit information... Sir, you must kill him now!'

'Damn it!' Noah cursed inwardly and rushed toward Lucas Graham, but in the blink of an eye, the man vanished from his line of sight once again.

'Sir, behind you...!'

Zoe's warning rang sharply in Noah's mind, just as he felt an icy chill strike the back of his neck.
