Chapter 57: REHEARSALS: V

Florah heard all the women said clearly, but she just sat there looking in the mirror, ignoring them.

This wasn't the first time someone tried to slander her name. She remembered her previous employer, Miss Bernatta, who used to do it all the time.

She was convinced that was why her fellow villagers stayed away from her.

Now, that woman who was attempting to do the same thing didn't bother her, but her words somehow did.

Her and the king are a mix to never happen, no matter in which lifetime.

But then she recalled how the two must have shared a bed in the night, a pink blush creeped up on her cheeks in embarrassment.

So far, she had been in the same bed with the other two men. First, it was Jeremiah who used her small bed as he pleased, and now she had slept in the King's bed.

Come to think of it, 'Did he carry me there?' She wondered. 'Oh God!, did he?, could he have done...?' She internally panicked, asking herself of all the possibilities of actions the king could have done.

"Am so sorry." She apologised pitifully thinking about her future husband.

She clearly wasn't doing a good job at maintaining her reputation.

Looking at herself one more time, she decided to go near the stage and read her lines so as not to mess up.

The rehearsals went on and on without breaks in between, Florah had to rehearse four more scenes and only had to repeat two of them, she was tired but she wouldn't say that she didn't enjoy acting as an activity.

"Okay, everyone, it is already afternoon, I think we have had everyone rehearse their scene," James said, and everyone nodded in agreement.

"Now, as I have been instructing you what scene comes after the other, I do not want anyone messing up or else you can wave working with me goodbye." James said seriously with a strict face

Everyone listened as he went on giving warnings and instructions, "I need everyone here at 7pm sharp. From here, we will head to the castle to prepare and further memorise the lines and scenes to perform.

You are required to dress decently in refined clothes, or else you will be mistaken for a servant among the King's esteemed guests." The director went on and on instructing seriously.

Everyone nodded, agreeing with the director's words and instructions.

As everyone dispersed to go have a break from all the exhausting performing, Allan went in the direction of Florah, who stood there at a loss of where to go.

But before he could reach there, someone none other than the head butler, Matthew intercepted and covered almost the whole of Florah's body, making Allan stop in his tracks.

"Are you done?" Matthew asked, looking at Florah.

"Yes," she replied.

"Come," he said.

"I need to first change out of this dress, Sir," Florah informed.

Matthew looked at her and noticed that the dress she wore was now different, he sharply locked eyes with her and said, "Use a maximum of six minutes or else you will be walking to the castle" he said seriously.

Florah understood his words and sped to the back room to change into her previous dress.

She reached the small compartment and saw her dress on the wooden door, hurriedly removing the one she wore.

She quickly put on her dress and due to the hurry, Florah didn't notice the loose threads at the back, the dress that was fine earlier now hang by small loose threads at the back but the owner barely noticed that the lower part of her dress was loose.

Hurrying out of the room, she didn't notice someone in the shadows smiling in triumphant.

From where he stood, Matthew watched Florah look around for him, and he waited until she found him.

When the redhead saw the butler, she hurried towards him and, in the process, bumped into some people, further loosening the small threads that held her skirt.

The two walked towards the back of the building in silence.

Florah carried her character's dress in hand, wondering where they were going.

When they reached near the exit, Florah saw a beautiful carriage familiar to her eyes.

Before they could reach the carriage, its door opened, Matthew bowed at whoever was in the carriage and signaled for her to enter while he went in another direction.

Florah realized whose carriage it was and dreaded being in the same space as him yet again.
