Between The Light And The Darkness: Gachuti Blood

Chapter 8: Gachuti Blood

"What happened? What a headache."

His body, lying on the ground, tried to stand up, but the pile of cores where he was located crumbled, throwing him to the ground. Tears streamed down his face as his mind was filled with the events of the last day.

"Shin, Thijou, Rosary, they... they..."

From his shadows, a smile emerged and eyes opened, detaching themselves and, as if forming from black smoke, one could even say that all his darkness had created that.

"Are you going to cry again? Over insignificant beings?"

"Huh?"

His eyes searched for the creator of those words and finally saw the being, a smile made of sharp edges and white eyes, watching him, but confusion was stamped on his face.

"What are you?"

The will to cry was perhaps there, but his voice was weak, clearly the question was something the being didn't want to hear. The smile faded and frustration took its place.

"Is that how you talk to your savior... Or have you already forgotten who saved you?"

"You saved me? Because I don't remember anything."

"By giving me control of your body."

After listening carefully, he got up and started walking, seemingly nowhere, but stopping in front of what was once the village's warehouse, which was now nothing but ruins.

"Are you going to keep ignoring me?"

Without uttering a word, the question had been answered, and once again, the being was frustrated. However, Gachuti left with a shovel in hand, heading towards the entrance of Demigem, formerly a beautiful view of a plain.

"Ahhhh... Let's start this."

As the sun rose, several holes made by Gachuti could be seen, and all the while the being watched him, perhaps contemplating.

"What exactly are you doing?"

Breathing deeply and steadily, with seriousness, his black eyes went to the being, who saw that movement with some discomfort.

"You're not going to leave?"

"Huh... That's pretty mean, Gachuti."

"Then, better tell me what you are?"

"What do you mean, Gachuti?"

Clearly, the being didn't want to continue that conversation, perhaps to hide something or to protect him from reality, but Gachuti wouldn't give in.

"Tell me exactly... What are you?"

"It seems you don't know, I'm a power seal..."

"Wait, a power seal? That means you're limiting my power, that I could have used to save them..."

"Wrong."

The answer took Gachuti by surprise and his confused face clearly demonstrated that, however, as free as the air, the darkness positioned itself in front of him, finally, with the smile returning to the being.

"Actually, I'm a seal of the power you can't bear in your body, so no, you wouldn't have saved them in any way."

"I understand, but I swear I won't use your power anymore."

Demigem Plains, 11:54 AM.

The sun shone brightly, but the climate was mild, it would be an ideal day. Gachuti would help Thijou organize some paperwork, then meet with Rosary where they would talk, and finally, end the day sleeping in a soft bed and fall asleep thinking of her.

God Riflat, receive the souls of all who have perished in this place...

The sunlight revealed several mounds of earth, casting shadows over Gachuti, his knees were on the ground, while his hands were joined and his eyes closed.

...Guide me on my path now, amen.

His eyes slowly opened, raising his head, looking at the place that was now a cemetery, finally fixing his gaze on the mound in front of the others.

I forgive you, especially you, Elder Thijou.

His own deep breath was all that could be heard, and with a gentle movement, he stood up, still fixed on the mound in front.

"I didn't find Rosary's body, that might even be good news..."

A gentle breeze caressed Gachuti's face, as if the world was trying to comfort him.

"Even so, I apologize, Elder..."

His sentence was interrupted by a memory of good times and the request he had always made.

"I meant, Grandpa."

A small, but sincere smile formed on his face. That moment was interrupted by the sounds of a cavalry in the distance, and finally, Gachuti walked towards them, while the being rose again from his shadow.

"I remembered now, I haven't introduced myself yet."

"What are you talking about?"

"How so?, I have a name too."

"Hmm... So, what would it be?"

"Blood."

What seemed distant before, at that moment, was so close, a fleet of knights with medallions from the city of Hunzia, finally arriving where Gachuti was and going to speak to the one who seemed to be the commander.

"Hello, citizen, the last survivor in Demigem?"

"Survivors... You're late, there's only me here."

The answer, with so many feelings, made the commander lose his composure for a second, who adjusted himself and continued.

"Could you tell me your name?"

"Gachuti... Gachuti Blood."

"I understand, follow this man, please, and the rest of you search and confirm if there are no more survivors.

Guided by a man, he arrived at the carriage where there was a person using healing magic, lying on one side of the carriage.
