Becoming an Accidental God in a New World

Chapter 105: Ch 105- Guests- Part 6

"Thank you for helping me out, shopkeeper. I have learned an important lesson today — do not underestimate the kids."

Leo told me as he shuddered. He seemed unable to look at Nyx or Erebus without flinching.

I had a feeling that the less I knew about what happened, the better it would be for my sanity. So I ignored him and the kids while I paid attention to my shop.

Lunch was a solemn affair, which was kept lively by Luna's chatter. She was going non-stop, now enjoying her time. And she ended up helping the kids around as well.

Finally, it was time for dinner and we all ate. Leo and Luna started to head back as well when I caught Leo and told him what I saw near his house in the morning.

Leo looked angry when he heard what happened, but he did not look as surprised as I expected him to look.

"Shopkeeper, I am thankful that you are looking out for me like this. I will make sure to return the favor sometime soon in the future."

The man told me and I gave him one last piece of advice.

"I do not know what you are running away from. But going to the police for protection might be a good idea. I cannot say about anyone else, but General Henry is a good person who can help you out."

Leo looked determined but not ready to take my advice.

"I see. I will see if I need help."

And with that, both Leo and Luna left my shop and went back home. I kept watching them as they went inside their home and closed the door.

Only once they were gone did I return to my room.

Truthfully, I had no idea why I had acted like that. It was not like I could do something for them, even if I wanted to. I could also not offer them any protection, even if they looked like they needed it.

All I could do was be there for them.

'Even then, I do have my own worries and priorities. I need to make sure not to put Nyx and Erebus in danger. Otherwise, Duchess Isabella might become my enemy.'

I let out a sigh as I gathered the kids back up and sent them to their beds. I also headed toward my bed when I heard a knock at the door.

I opened the door, only to see the same man from the morning. And instead of knocking at Leo and Luna's door, he was knocking at my door.

"Excuse me, but do you want something?"

I asked the man as he tried to look inside my shop over my shoulder. The man looked at me with his deep eyes and a cunning smile.

"Hmm, there is a lot you can do for me, shopkeeper. But first, won't you invite me inside? Surely you won't leave a guest like me waiting outside?"

The man asked, and standing beside him gave me a heavy feeling that I did not like.

So I decided not to invite this man inside. His vibes were too dark for me to feel comfortable.

"I apologize, but if there is anything you need to buy, then please come back in the morning. We are not open for business right now."

I shot the man down clearly. But instead of taking the hint and moving forward, he stood there right in front of me.

"Don't be like that, shopkeeper. I know that I might come across as… suspicious, but I promise you that I am not suspicious. I just want to talk to you about something."

Despite my clear warning, it seemed that the man in front of me was not ready to take it. He kept forcing himself toward me and I finally had enough.

"Please leave or I will call the police."

I told the man and he finally looked surprised by my words. I had a feeling that he never expected me to hold my ground.

"Aww, don't be like that—"

The message flashed across my phone screen before I watched the man in front of me flinch and pull his hand back just when he had been about to touch me.

"Y-You… never mind. It seems like we have a misunderstanding here. Why don't we resolve it while talking?"

The man asked me once more and I was getting quite tired of speaking the same thing over and over again.

However, this time, I saw another person heading my way. Reese Spencer had decided to pay me a visit and as she came closer, I saw the forceful stranger flinch and stiffen.

"Shopkeeper, it has been some time since we last met, right? I decided to swing by because I had something to talk to you. But who is this person? A new customer of yours?"

The female asked as she looked at the man standing beside me. Before the stranger could speak, I ended up speaking.

"A customer… is not the right term for this gentleman. In fact, he's an intruder more than anything and he refuses to take the hint that he needs to leave."

I told Reese and a small smile broke out on her face.

"I see. So he is not a customer but a stranger. Then, Mr. Stranger, may we have a small talk among ourselves? There are a few things I want to discuss with you if you don't mind."

The female asked the unknown male and he flinched before he looked around to try and find an escape route.

"I am afraid that… we will need to take a rain check on that. I just recalled that I needed to do something. I will see you later—"

The man had not finished speaking when Reese placed her hand on his shoulder.

"Awww, don't be like that. Come, have a small talk with me. I am sure we have a lot left to discuss."

And just like that, she dragged the stranger away from my shop.
