Chapter 54: The Battle of the MCs [End]

"You survived Judgment Spear, how is that possible?!"

Aboli shouted, struggling to dodge Sylus's attacks.

As for Sylus, nearly half of his body was shredded to pieces, with slick black liquid oozing out, sticky and writhing as it desperately tried to knit itself back together.

A large portion of his head had also been cleaved off, strands of black matter twisting and wriggling nonstop, surging as if trying to heal as fast as possible.

And yet, despite all this, he was still alive—dragging that broken, tattered body into the air, still able to launch attacks. His wings… his wings had not suffered even the slightest damage!

Aboli didn't even dare to imagine just how powerful Sylus was, let alone picture the sight of him unleashing his Ultimate Power!

Why—why does Sylus still exist? He should have been crushed to death long ago! What were those old geezers doing, allowing such a massive threat to survive until this very day?!

Aboli furrowed her brows tightly, then suddenly widened her eyes—at some point, Sylus's figure had completely vanished!

Panic gripped her as she looked frantically around, in every direction, yet Sylus's silhouette was nowhere to be found! That shouldn't be possible. It was impossible! How could anyone slip out of her sight like this?!

Light flickered in Aboli's eyes. She thrust both hands forward, her entire body shimmering in radiant energy.

"Stellar Burst!"

She roared. In that instant, everything seemed frozen for a heartbeat. The scattered rays of light all around her underwent some strange transformation—

And then, they exploded!

A massive blast spread outward from Aboli's position, swelling into a colossal sphere of light with a radius of over twenty meters.

Such a surge of energy—if not enough to kill Sylus, it would at least allow Aboli to sense his coordinates.

He couldn't have flown away that quickly!

"Whoosh! Swoosh!"

Something tore through the air, shattering all resistance, streaking forward like a silver bullet.

Aboli's eyes widened. She twisted her body with the fastest reflexes of her life—but too late. Sylus was already in front of her, claws gleaming as his hand lashed out.

Rip!

The left side of Aboli's head was torn apart. Even though she tried to evade, ,there was no escape at such close range.

Another hand of Sylus pressed against her abdomen—energy condensed, forming a glossy black sphere that swallowed her whole, tainting her radiant wings.

Aboli saw Sylus's lips move—but she could no longer hear his words.

Her face was filled with sheer terror and disbelief—not the horror of facing death, but the far more crushing, unbearable fear of having to accept defeat. That, to her, was more terrifying than any imminent death.

Impossible! Impossible! I won't die! I am the strongest of this era!

She screamed, yet no sound came out. A silent explosion of darkness swallowed everything within a radius of more than fifty meters, nearly engulfing the noble district of Zone 5.

But the darkness did not stop there. It spread and spread without end. The sky was no longer just dim—it needed no black clouds, for this darkness devoured all, threatening to plunge the land into eternal night.

The residents of Zone 5 watched as the encroaching shadows spread, terror plainly written on their faces. They needed to run. But where could they run? They were only ordinary people.

"Are we just going to sit back and let this happen, Zone Chief?"

At that very moment, inside the office of Zone 5's chief, a man asked anxiously, his gaze fixed on the elderly figure with a silver beard seated before him.

The Zone Chief watched the darkness expand, swallowing every glimmer of light, his expression grim.

He shook his head. "This matter is already beyond our reach. Zone 1 will handle it."

The subordinate looked as if he still wanted to speak, but he could only fall silent under the chief's gaze.

Unseen by his men, the Zone Chief's eyes grew heavy.

This world… was on the verge of upheaval once more.

The entire Aurellan family estate was shrouded in thick, suffocating darkness where not even five fingers could be seen.

Thud!

Suddenly, a heavy body collapsed onto the ground. Sylus's wings twitched faintly before dissolving completely. His form returned to normal. The bloodstains on his body remained, yet he knew—every wound had vanished.

He lay on the ground, dazed, wide eyes unblinking, as though still unable to comprehend what had just happened.

The darkness seemed to be devouring him from within. The pain was overwhelming—he could no longer tell whether he was the darkness, or the darkness was him.

His gaze fell upon the ring on his ring finger. Tiny cracks glimmered back at him, the blue gemstone glowing brilliantly amid the dark.

"Sylus, get up. Let's go home."

A voice called out from within the endless night.

Sylus's lips curved suddenly. He lifted his hand to his mouth, pressing a light kiss against the ring. At that instant, the ring disintegrated into dust, scattering like tiny stars, vanishing at the corner of his lips.

That's right—time to go home.

Zone 1, Heavenly Clan, Archangels… I'm back…

World Calendar Year 3014. For reasons shrouded in mystery, the entire aristocracy of Zone 5 was annihilated. At the same time, the darkness that spread across Zone 5's skies expanded rapidly, forcing the whole populace to evacuate and relocate to other zones. Zone 5 was officially erased, buried beneath endless shadow.

Yet the darkness lingering in the skies continued to cast dread upon humanity.

Not long after, another piece of news shook the entire planet even more: Zone 1 had changed rulers—only five months after the eradication of Zone 5!

A new code of law was soon issued to every zone, expected to usher in an era-defining transformation for all humankind.

["Regarding enacting this new code of law, may we have your thoughts, Commander? What kind of impact do you believe this will have on the current global situation?"]

The voice of a female reporter crackled faintly from within an old, worn-out television set—a kind of product hardly befitting this age.

The shopkeeper sat slouched in his chair, fanning himself lazily. With a handful of sunflower seeds in one hand, he spat shells as he commented on the interview, his raspy voice booming in the room—the very picture of a man eating at home while critiquing world affairs.

Just then, a figure stepped forward, casting a shadow over part of the light. The shopkeeper turned his head. He had towering body, a fierce face, and a bald head covered in tattoos—an intimidating figure at first glance.

Yet the newcomer was unfazed. He placed a dull gray coin on the counter, his voice cool yet carrying a hint of natural brightness:

"One chocolate bar, please. Thank you."

The shopkeeper spat out his seed shells, got up to fetch the item, and remarked casually, "I was just wondering why you hadn't shown up. Payroll late this month?"

Clearly, this was a regular customer.

The young man only smiled in response, saying nothing.

The shopkeeper quickly retrieved the chocolate bar. The youth left the store satisfied, his steps brisk. The tattered denim jacket he wore flared at the edges in the wind. Tugging his cap lower, he broke into a run, heading swiftly back to his place.

"Ha… ugly bastard. Pulling your cap down like that—who'd even want to look at you?"

A mocking voice rang out from the street. The young man paid it no heed, quickening his pace even more.

"You bastard!"

Felix, ignored completely, growled in frustration. But as the youth's figure disappeared far down the street, he couldn't give chase—only stew in his wasted anger.
