Beast Taming: Slaughter Atlas

Chapter 60: The Ji Family's Thank-You Gift

After the seven people divided the money, they chatted for a while before parting ways.

The seven could be considered life-and-death friends and agreed that they would team up again for a forest mission if given the chance.

Chu Chen returned home in the evening.

When he opened the house door, he found that many guests had arrived.

After scanning the room, he was surprised to find Ji Mingyue also present.

"This must be Chu Chen, right? Xiaochu, you've really produced a good son. Mingyue told me about it. He ranked first in the actual combat assessment this time; his future is boundless," an old man said with a chuckle.

"You're too kind. He was just lucky. Son, come here. This is Mr. Ji Jingfeng, the Patriarch of the Ji Family," Father Chu said with a smile, beckoning him over.

Upon hearing this, Chu Chen quickly went over and greeted with a smile, "Hello, Grandpa Ji."

"Hmm, come over and sit. You and Mingyue are classmates now; you should help each other in the future."

"You're too kind. With my strength, how could I assist Ji Tongxue?"

After some polite exchanges, Elder Ji explained his reasons for coming.

"Chu Xiong, I really owe you this time. If not for you, I'd be burying my own child. This is a small token of appreciation; please accept it," he said, clapping his hands.

At this moment, four burly men in suits entered, each carrying a wooden box.

After setting down the wooden boxes, the four quickly exited, as if they had undergone special training.

Chu Chen inadvertently noticed that the aura these four emitted had reached Soul Master Level.

That such experts were willing to act as Ji Jingfeng's bodyguards testified to the strength of the Ji Family.

Father Chu looked at the four wooden boxes before him and promptly declined, "Elder Ji, you're too generous; saving Miss Ji is our duty as part of the City Defense Army."

"Xiaochu, don't refuse, these are not anything valuable."

"Right, Uncle Chu, just accept them. Is my life not worth more than these items?"

"It wouldn't be proper; your goodwill is appreciated," Father Chu politely refused.

"Xiaochu, just accept it. If you don't, word gets out and I won't be able to show my face. Well, we have things to do, so we'll leave first. Think over what I mentioned before; the terms are negotiable," Ji Jingfeng said as he left with Ji Mingyue.

Father Chu looked at the wooden boxes in front of him, momentarily unsure of what to do.

"Open them and have a look. Ji Jingfeng came in person, indicating that they take this matter seriously and sincerely want to thank us. If you refuse again, you might offend them," Chu Chen said with a smile.

For such an important figure like Ji Jingfeng, coming in person already gave the Chu Family a lot of face. Returning the gifts would be ungrateful, and might even offend the Ji Family.

Father Chu nodded thoughtfully, slowly opening the first wooden box, his eyes showing a hint of anticipation.

Inside the first wooden box was an elixir pill the size of a dragon's eye, light blue on the surface, with four pill patterns on it.

Father Chu carefully picked up the elixir pill to examine it closely.

"This must be a Fourth-Grade Elixir, the Soul Revival Pill," Father Chu muttered.

"Indeed, it's a Soul Revival Pill," Chu Chen confirmed.

A single Soul Revival Pill is worth two hundred thousand Alliance Coins, effective in healing soul injuries; it's a heartfelt gift from Ji Jingfeng.

After putting away the Soul Revival Pill, Father Chu opened the second wooden box, which contained a Beast Taming Egg the size of a basketball, with flame patterns on its shell.

Inside the wooden box was a note with just three characters: "Flaming Wolf."

Seeing this, Chu Chen laughed and said, "That's the advanced form of the Red Flame Wolf; the Ji Family is indeed generous."

The Flaming Wolf is of Excellence Level quality, and with proper nurturing one can gain a Commander Level Guardian Beast, allowing Father Chu to break through to Soul Master Level.

Upon hearing this, Father Chu showed a joyful expression, gently stroking the Beast Taming Egg, his expression full of memories.

Moments later, Father Chu opened the third wooden box, inside were nearly a hundred porcelain bottles of various sizes.

Upon closer inspection, he discovered they were all filled with elixirs.

They ranged from First Grade to Third Grade, with a complete variety such as Star Power Pills, Body Strengthening Pills, Healing Pills, and more.

Most of these elixirs were prepared for the Flaming Wolf.

The fourth wooden box contained two cards, one a shopping card with "Celestial Star Beast Taming Food Store" written on the front, with a spending limit of five hundred thousand Alliance Coins on the back.

The second was a membership card for the White Tiger Daoist School, valid for one year, including skill learning, sparring, medicinal meals, and more, valued at over a million.

Father Chu slowly closed the wooden boxes; his expression appeared calm, but his slightly trembling fingers gave him away.

Ji Jingfeng didn't give money directly; instead, he prepared thoughtful gifts, from the Soul Revival Pill to heal soul wounds, to the Flaming Wolf Beast Taming Egg and the training resources for the future.

This gift precisely met Father Chu's urgent needs, not only allowing him to quickly regain his strength but also serving as a key to unlocking the Soul Master Level door, causing the consistently straightforward Father Chu to waver.

Seeing his father's thoughts, Chu Chen said with a smile, "Take it. If you feel it's too much, consider it a loan. When I'm successful in the future, I'll help you repay it."

Father Chu, already swayed, naturally agreed when his son provided an excuse.

"Then I'll accept it?" Father Chu cautiously asked.

"Go ahead, accept it. The Ji Family has plenty and won't miss these things; plus, they're sincerely offering them," Chu Chen said with a smile.

Reassured by those words, Father Chu finally accepted.

"Son, if Lei Yao ever needs food or elixirs, just come to me," Father Chu said with a smile, patting his chest.

"Enough, don't boast. You risked your life for this," Mrs. Chu said with slight displeasure.

Father Chu instantly became meek upon hearing that.

Mrs. Chu sternly said, "Alright, let's eat quickly. After dinner, take the Soul Revival Pill to restore your strength. Winter is coming, and so is the Beast Tide, so stay put and don't go on any assignments for now."

Father Chu nodded quickly at the words.

"You all go ahead and eat. I've already eaten with my classmates. Oh, Dad, what did Elder Ji want you to think about?"

"Elder Ji wants me to work for the Ji Family, but I refused," Father Chu said solemnly.

Chu Chen nodded at this without saying anything further.

Given Father Chu's strength, if he wanted a better life, he wouldn't choose to stay with the City Defense Army. Even with the Ji Family's sincere invitation, he wouldn't waver.

Chu Chen returned to his room to find Nirvana sprawled in front of the desk, seemingly waiting for something.

As soon as Chu Chen entered the room, Nirvana noticed him immediately.

Nirvana lifted its head, eyes flickering with excitement, and its antennae quivered. However, it didn't move, indicating it hadn't fully accepted Chu Chen yet.

Nonetheless, Chu Chen was very pleased; compared to before the combat assessment, Nirvana's attitude toward him had greatly improved.

Clearly, Nirvana had adapted to his presence, and it naturally acted more affectionate after his few days' absence.

Chu Chen quickly walked over to Nirvana, then took out a Star Power Pill and fed it into its mouth.

"Eat up. Did you miss me while I was away these past few days?" Chu Chen softly spoke while gently stroking Nirvana's head.

After bonding with Nirvana for a while, he called Lei Yao out as well.

"Lei Yao, tell Nirvana about our adventures these past few days," Chu Chen said with a sly grin.

Lei Yao immediately understood and began gesturing excitedly at Nirvana, occasionally flashing a proud look.

Nirvana appeared both eager and envious.

Chu Chen was extremely satisfied with this; sometimes, a Guardian Beast was just like a pet, longing to explore, play, and fight.

Chu Chen's goal was to amplify Nirvana's inner desires so that its heart would open to him.

Sometimes, one must resort to certain means to achieve a goal.
