Azur Lane: Savior

Chapter 69 – In A Desperate Situation

"Too slow! You look like you belong to the retirement home with those speed!" Purifier smirked, she fired her rigging to Baltimore as the girl chasing her.

Baltimore keeping her emotion calm as she ignore the insult the Siren said towards her. It didn't take a moment to catch up to Purifier as she predicted her next movement before she could make any attack to her. Victorious followed suit with sending her plane up to the sky above her and made them dive below to attack using their gun. The Siren used that opportunity to flew upward and brute force the planes, destroying them in the process.

Once she was above in the sky, she dive down back at Baltimore to caught her by surprise. Her rigging armanent begin to charge up before it blasted the yellow laser on her. Baltimore retreated back before the deadly laser manage to hit her. Purifier slightly glanced at the fleet on the back, Greynar was eyeing on her with a slight annoyed expression. She almost burst laugh but kept her acting cool as she dealt with the two ships chasing her around. For her, it was just a fun chasing cat and dog game. During those moment, she also didn't forget to often check the monitor she had set up hidden beneath NY Harbor' sea. There was a slight ping on her monitor, she decided that the game was done with her stopping flying around and dive below to the sea.

She appeared again behind Baltimore, but she got caught surprise by Hornet's plane that suddenly bombed her. Juneau also assisted her in dealing with Purifier as they started to move around her. It was a four against one battle, Purifier mouth opened widely as she was excited to teach them a lesson they will never forget.

"You guys are not gonna get my armor scracthed by those weak planes or guns, just give up! It's useless against me." She suddenly turned to Baltimore and shot her rigging.

Baltimore getting caught by the laser was hurt. "Guh...! There's no armor that won't split open eventually! Let's see your insides!" Baltimore countered with a kick, jumping from the explosion and directly launched herself to Purifier.

Purifier eyes darted around as she dodged to the side from a sudden attack from behind her, the attack hitted Batlimore. "Ahahaha! Look at you, getting baited by a cheap trick!" She pointed to her while laughing. "By the by, while you've been messing around here, NY back there's been having a city-wide barbecue party! You should go check it out!"

Victorious turned to the side with a worried face, "Commander, if we stay here any longer, the harbour will..."

"Keep fighting! Don't let her word sway you!" He ordered. "Once we deal with her as soon as possible we need to go!"

'Though i already said that, why isn't Volga picking up my call? I was planning to make her go to NY City as soon as possible.' He was tilting his head, confused that his comms seems to not responding. 'Did she somehow getting trapped inside a jamming range?'

He shifted his focus to the current situation. Dealing with Purifier wasn't easy, she is an elite Siren that accumulate experience by messing with her enemy. Purifier was messing around, he knows that this was just one of her antics to improve his analyzing skill over the battlefield. In other words, she was intentionally helping him to grow too. Because of that it doesn't take a moment for him to command the ships.

"Baltimore, aim for the rigging, Juneau prepare to charge in. Hornet, ready your planes and launch them directly at her." He ordered.

Baltimore stopped her movement and changed her direction to Purifier. The Siren that was still chasing her suddenly backed off and went floating up. She knew that a plane was coming directly above her already, but what she didn't expect that another plane also came to all of her direction. Victorious interupted her advance, Greynar has gave her order to put her in a pinch and blind her vision. As every plane exploded on her face, smoke rose around her. Suddenly, Hornet appeared from behind, using her plane as a stepping stone to deliver a kick to her rigging, her kick was powerful enough to stumble the Siren to fall down.

"My engines...?! Argh... did she teleport behind me?!" Purifier panicked.

Hornet smirked, "Gotcha," She turned below to the destroyer that was ready to charge. "Now! Juneau!"

"HUH!" Purifier was caught surprised, as a gun went directly to her head.

"Not yet, I'm not... done with you yet! Die!" Juneau blasted the Siren into pieces, her head was also destroyed along the explosion.

"You'll have an eternity in hell to think about that one, Siren piece of shit!!" Baltimore cursed at the destroyed Purifier body.

"We... we got her!" Juneau cheered, she regained her breath slowly.

"Nice shot, Juneau." Greynar nodded to her while giving her a thumbs up.

A tint of red appeared on her cheeks. "P-please... It's embarrassing..." She was shy to admit it.

After a short celebration, Greynar turned to the area around him again but his mind isn't focusing at the blazing water. 'It's been around 20 minutes, she hasn't responded to my call... Volga, what happened to you?' He gripped his communicator tightly.

Shifting again to the fleets, he commanded them again. "Alright, everyone. Let's go check out our friends at NY, we don't have much time to celebrate now."

The fleets went on to the journey, but they were stopped by another elite Siren as soon they reached the outskirt of NY Harbor.

Saratoga and the fleets in NY Harbor was under a problem, all of them prepared for a fight. With the Commander not around, the mess need to be cleaned up as soon as possible, Saratoga took charge of the command and immobilize more fleets to sail out.

"Darn it, they picked a good timing to suddenly attack us." She clicked her tongue.

"Sara, i just received an emergency call. The Siren Purifiers are launching a fierce attack. The outer defense line is in emergency. Please ask for emergency support!" Long Island came barged in the room.

Followed by Langley that just arrived. "We've detected the Sirens' main fleet! In addition to the massive numbers of production-type ships, there are also many humanoid-type Sirens!"

Another girl also arrived to the door. "We're getting distress calls from Newport Harbor as well!" Bogue came in with another news.

Additionally more people also joined inside the emergency meeting room. "Their airstrikes are becoming more and more oppressive! Our anti-air won't be able to keep up!" San Juan told everyone about a bad news.

"Jeez, they just keep coming one after another! You can't even call this a sneak attack anymore - this is total war!" Saratoga angrily slapped the surface of the table.

"This is bad... I still can't get in touch with Enterprise or Commander!" Long Island tried to use her comms channel but no one responded, only a buzz of bug noises could be heard.

She scratched her head in frustrated manner, pleading to any bad news that came to her to stop coming. "Argh... we're going to be in serious trouble if their communications are being jammed..." the petite girl looked at Vestal on her side. "How is the evac route going?"

Their nun friend shook her head. "No, the evacuation couldn't be carried smoothly, if we delay it any further the NY headquarters will be in danger."

Saratoga decided to take a step into the problem, "Alright everyone calm down! We're in the middle of a war right now, what we need currently is to cooperate with each other. Don't be in a hurry, we will make this through together." After she calmed everyone in the room, she turned to the destroyer that was leaning on the wall. "Ausburne, can your Little Beaver Squadron handle the surrounding light fleets?"

The destroyer replied with a smirk on her face. "You betcha! Your local allies of justice are on the case!"

Saratoga nodded, she turned to the two worried people in the room. "Langley, Bogue, come with me. We'll wrest air superiority from those Sirens!" She turned to the repair ship beside her."Vestal, carry out the evacuation that suit the necessary step, quick and safe." Then, she turned to Long Island. "Long Island, keep in check with your radio communication in case that Commander and the fleets are back."

Everyone in the room act according to her lead. Saratoga felt a burden on her shoulder disappear as they carry out the operation.

"Erm... is there anything I can do...?" A short blonde-coloured girl approached her nervously.

"Bataan, can I count on you to check on the status of the defense line?" She asked.

"Huh? Oh, yes! I'll make sure to check it thoroughly!" Bataan bid farewell and left the room.

Saratoga sighed alone in the room. "Everyone, please be safe..." The carrier muttered quietly.

NY Harbor fleets begin to carry their operation counterattack against the Siren ambush, especially Saratoga and her fleets that send an air support to their ally. Starting by destroying the Siren carrier, they attacked according to the plan. After destroying the main source of problem the fleets, a humanoid Siren, they got to the point where the enemy numbers has been reduced significantly, the air was safe from the enemy. The remaining Siren ship was destroyed by battleships that was stationed in many places around.

"Phew... No more Siren signals on the radar. Sister Sara wins again~!" Saratoga wiped the sweat that formed around her head.

Langley suddenly came up to her with an anxious face. "Saratoga, i have news from the scout planes. A new enemy flagship has been spotted to the southeast."

Saratoga silenly cursed at the Siren. "There's no end to them!"

"Sara watch out—!"

"Huh?" Saratoga turned around to see Bogue suddenly pulled her from the place where she had been standing.

A plane was flying on circle with a low altitude, she looked at the plane's body carefully. It didn't take second for her to recognize that the plane was an allied plane. Langley helped them to get up as they checked at the plane before.

"Did you purposely swoop down from a high altitude just to scare us...? Saratoga?" Langley gave her a slight glare.

"No... That's... Not me." Saratoga denied it firmly.

"Everyone, look! There's something coming at us from 11 o'clock!" Bogue pointed at something far away distance where the planes going to.

"It's so close, but there's no reading from the radar?!" Langley checked her recon plane, but there's no detected enemy that appeared.

From the far away distance, they could see a girl and her bow. A familiar girl but her hair was short. Her torned uniform, and a ripped cape could be seen hanging on her neck. It was as if the girl had fought thousand of battle then came up to top. The unknown girl silently standing on something, they couldn't take a look at it because it's very far.

Saratoga widened her eyes, she just couldn't believe it. "...Enterprise?"
