Chapter 433: Treasure Exchanges

The airship landed gently and then suddenly shrank down until it was small enough to fit in the palm of a hand. Daniel put it into his inventory.

The three of them, along with a fat little bird perched on Daniel's shoulder, headed toward the city gates. After paying the entrance fee, they entered the city.

It was a developed place, with beautiful houses, though most were painted in darker shades. The smell of smoke and pollution filled the air.

It looked exactly like a city from the Victorian era—an age of steam. At first sight, it was somewhat fascinating, but Daniel still preferred more ordinary cities.

The streets were fairly crowded, carriages moving back and forth, and the style of clothing worn by the people was completely different from any of the other cities he had seen.

He glanced at Ilaris, who also seemed captivated.

"Do you want to eat something before you leave, or would you rather head straight for the teleport portal?"

"No… I'd rather go soon. The longer I stay here with you and on this continent, and the more I think about Andreas… the harder it will be to leave." Ilaris hesitated for a moment, sighed, and answered.

Daniel nodded without trying to make her stay. He randomly picked someone to ask about the location of the teleport portals, especially the one they were looking for.

After a few minutes, he returned to Ilaris and Rynor. With a little questioning, he had not only learned the location of the portals but also formed a rough idea of the city's layout.

He took the lead, with the other two following him. Daniel didn't walk too fast, so both he and Ilaris could enjoy the scenery and take a closer look at the city.

Because of the distinct features of Daniel and Ilaris, which were very different from the city's people, they drew some attention. A few curious children even approached to talk to them.

After about an hour of walking, they finally reached the place where the teleport portals were located. Each portal stood in an open area and was guarded.

Above every portal was a sign with the destination written on it. After searching for a while, they found one marked "Intercontinental Destinations."

"We want to go to the continent of Veldrikas, somewhere near the elves' homeland. How much will that cost?" Daniel asked the middle-aged man sitting at the counter.

"Veldrikas? If you just want to reach that continent, it's one million gold coins. But if you want somewhere near the elves' lands, that'll be about five million coins—per person," the man said lazily.

Daniel gave a bitter smile and pulled out ten million gold coins from his inventory to pay. The man glanced at the massive amount of gold.

He put on his glasses and carefully examined the coins. With a single look, he confirmed the amount was exact.

"The two who are going, step into the portal."

Before leaving, Rynor bowed respectfully to Daniel. After all, he was his master and lord.

Ilaris hugged him without hesitation. It wasn't a romantic hug, more like that between siblings.

"Thank you for everything. Next time we meet, it'll be me protecting you and Andreas! I promise!" She quickly ran toward the portal, trying to hide the tears in her eyes.

The portal shone brightly, releasing a blue light, and in the next moment, the two figures disappeared.

Daniel watched in silence and then nodded slightly after they were gone.

"Hopefully nothing happens to them," he murmured, then turned to leave. He had already told Ilaris earlier that if anything went wrong, she should contact him through telepathic connection and report everything.

Leaving that place behind, Daniel immediately left the city as well. In truth, he had another reason for coming here—to sell off the extra items, weapons, and treasures he didn't need.

According to what Andreas had told him, this city offered good prices for items. There were even shops made specifically for buying goods from travelers and merchants.

These shops were called Treasure Exchanges.

Andreas had already researched the best one and given its name to Daniel. Daniel had even asked around earlier and knew its location.

Without wasting time, he went straight there. It was a luxurious, upscale shop. He entered and went directly to the clerk.

"I have some items I want to sell."

"Welcome, dear customer. Please show me everything you want to sell, and I'll evaluate them. After that, you can choose between direct selling or auction selling."

"What's the difference?"

"It's simple. Direct selling means you sell to us immediately. We evaluate the items and pay you accordingly. Auction selling means your items go into an auction. However much they sell for, we take twenty percent as commission," the clerk explained, then added, "Of course, auction selling takes time. You'd have to wait about a week."

"I'll take direct selling," Daniel replied, pulling out a large number of items and weapons from his inventory.

Even though the pile was huge, it wasn't everything he had. He kept the best, most valuable, and strongest ones with the plan to sell them directly to the Everlight Moon guild. After all, it was his guild, and in this way, he could strengthen it too. A win-win situation. The ones he was selling now weren't especially valuable—just a large amount of them.

"Dear customer, because of the quantity, you'll need to wait a little while," the clerk said, his jaw dropping in shock before he composed himself.

Daniel nodded and waited about two hours while the man finished evaluating everything.

When it was finally done, the store offered him 93 million gold coins for the entire batch. Daniel accepted without arguing, taking the gold into his inventory.

To receive the money, he had to follow them to their treasury. Once the transaction was finished, he left the place and headed toward the city outskirts.

"Hm?" On the way, however, he realized he was being followed. More importantly, he could sense a familiar aura from their auras, whitle carrying hostile intent against him

Fino also started making noise on his shoulders, apparently greatly disliking the smell of the people who were following them.
