chapter 59
Once we were at the rear line, I issued my orders using telepathy. Although I can use magic to talk in the vacuum of space, it would be impossible for the enemies not to hear me. There's a chance they might be able to understand me, at least the more intelligent ones. As such, telepathy was a must for relaying orders to ensure that my plans couldn't be overheard.
I explained to Target the Scorpians; however, I also explained that we would deal with the Scorpions by targeting the weakest enemies first and unleashing living hell on them to quickly reduce their numbers. This would buy us some time to prepare for the next wave of monsters that would be emitted by the space dungeon. I then told everyone who didn't wish to die to stay on the airship since I was starting off with a bang. In a voice that sounded like it was coming from the depths of the abyss itself, I said, "All those that gaze into the abyss, the abyss will eventually gaze back into you. Those that flinch will lose their minds to the depths of insanity. Those who continue to gaze into the abyss as it gazes back into them will sink into the depths of the abyss and become the abyss itself. Abyss annihilation."
Suddenly, a wave of abyssal energy spread out across the battlefield, expanding into a sphere of absolute nothingness, completely annihilating countless trillions of space bugs without making a sound. The majority of the people on my side couldn't even perceive the abyssal energy itself, making it look like trillions of enemies had suddenly disappeared. This is a very powerful and terrifying spell, but I can only use it a few times a day at most, as the amount of mana it consumes is truly astronomical. It can even destroy the soul of a target, so there's no coming back. It was a spell designed to completely annihilate immortal enemies by not even leaving them a soul, or even a molecule of their body, making it impossible for them to basically die. If the soul is the core of someone's being, if that's destroyed, it's more like you've been erased from existence.
I then activated my rainbow flame transformation. My hair, wings and eyes turned rainbow-colored. I then shouted in a loud voice, "Kill all the Scorpions with brutal savagery, and if you die, I'll bring you back to life just to kill you myself!" I then rushed off, leading the charge. Those who cast the life support barrier and had bracelets charged with me. Of course, Sophie, being a devil the highest class of Demon, didn't need to do that. After all, the radiation and temperatures of space couldn't affect her. She used spatial magic to link her lungs to a pocket dimension full of oxygen. If she ran out of oxygen, she just opened a portal to Earth, which connected to the dimension where she was storing all the oxygen to replenish her supply. The amount of mana it used was significantly less than the life support barrier.
As I was flying through the vacuum of space, massacring any bugs by unleashing a barrage of mini rainbow suns, I was laughing maniacally, "Ah, die, you fucking pieces of shit!" Sophie was also a force to be reckoned with. She disappeared, changing her weapons made of shadowy darkness depending on her needs, rapidly appearing and disappearing, leaving nothing but death in her wake. As I unleashed an endless barrage of rainbow suns, instantly incinerating thousands of space bugs, I noticed something about the spiders. Their fighting styles were very assassin-like. They used their agility and went for one-hit kill moves. They also used their webs to further restrain their opponents, complimenting their assassin fighting style. They also specialize in defense magic, having multiple layers of barriers and even mastering turtle shell. On top of that, their bodies were naturally tough and resilient, making them quite difficult, for most to kill. Of course, all of that was meaningless in the face of the rainbow suns, which could quite literally burn anything. What makes this truly terrifying is that it can only be countered by greater or equal power. Those that face it will truly understand the terrifying nature of the rainbow suns.
As I continued incinerating spiders and Scorpion, left and right, leaving the small fries to the rest of my forces, I killed Scorpion after Scorpion. "Damn, there's a lot of these bastards," I thought as I went on a wild killing spree, recklessly firing miniature suns everywhere. Just as I was about to kill the last Scorpion, it opened up a huge portal, and a ton of Scorpions poured out of it. Sophie created a dimensional seal around it. Suddenly, a light spear flew across the battlefield, vaporizing all the remaining space bugs. Though there were still trillions of bugs left, they were all vaporized into nothingness. One of the Demon Knights sent a telepathic message telling us to regroup at the space station.
After we were all gathered back on the airships, we headed back to the space station—or the base on the floating island in space. I have no idea what it should be called; we need to give this thing a proper name. I guess I'll bring it up, although it seems kind of trivial. But using different names for the same thing is getting very confusing and annoying.
I looked worriedly at Sophie, who was clearly struggling to maintain the dimensional lock. She had essentially created a dimensional lock around the portal, preventing the Scorpions from flooding out. She had also created a spatial isolation barrier, isolating the Scorpions that had managed to come out into another dimension. She couldn't maintain such powerful spatial magic indefinitely.
Once we arrived at the base, I headed to the command center and informed them of the situation by transferring memories, which was much faster. "How long do you think she can hold out?" I asked.
"Two days at most. I don't even think she's capable of talking to you due to the amount of concentration this is taking. I mean, a dimensional lock to keep the portal from spewing out Scorpions is no small feat. Not only that, but she's also created a pocket dimension and isolated the space, trapping the Scorpions that came out of the portal."
