chapter 55: It begins
The construction crew that had replaced the lazy shits had already cleared away the rubble, finished the city's construction, and moved on to the process of runedek enchanting the entire city with various defensive runes. On the edge of the solar system, red lightning condensed into a ball, and it did not take long for it to form a massive gate. This gate was the size of a planet, made from silver and gold, and extremely detailed.
The Demon Lord said, "We're out of time. The space dungeon has appeared."
"Is it space bugs?"
"Yes, they're flooding the entire area. Fortunately, it will take several days for them to actually reach the little space station where we plan to set up a defensive line. If they reach Earth, our chances of winning will be greatly diminished. It will be difficult to fend them off once they reach Earth, especially since the other countries are likely to struggle with their efforts to do so."
"Then are you going to undo the seal?" she asked.
She smiled and said, "No. My aura alone, even if fully suppressed, is enough to kill everyone in this country—well, almost everyone. Besides, once I undo the seal, I can no longer reapply it. This seal is a one-time use thing. Will you watch everything be destroyed because you’re reluctant to remove the seal? If it comes to that, I'll have no choice but to remove my seal. However, there will be consequences. After all, there's a reason I keep so much power sealed. It isn't just to protect the weak inhabitants of my country. It also plays a role in seeming less threatening. If the other countries see how powerful I am, they will likely unite to try and take me down."
"We both know you have no fear of the other countries. You’re more concerned with your citizens unnecessarily dying because of your aura. After all, you could easily purge every country off the face of the earth right now in your current form, let alone your true form."
She smiled. "Yes, at my current level, destroying every nation is a simple task; a fight between us could go either way. However, if I were to release my full power, you wouldn't stand a chance. It is impressive that you've managed to get this strong so quickly. I suppose you have the time acceleration of the hidden realm to thank for that."
She continued, "Without its time acceleration, you wouldn't have been able to get so strong so quickly, not to mention being lucky enough to stumble across a Fountain of Youth that grants eternal youth, preventing you from aging. Otherwise, you would have long since been dead, as I know it has been at least 10,000 years, if not more. High elves have double the lifespan of regular elves, about 2,000 years. That's how the high variation of races works. You're basically a stronger version of an elf with double the lifespan. A high human is the same thing, just a stronger and more evolved version of humans, with a lifespan of 200 years rather than 100. Still, that's quite short, and humans are quite rare in this country. Honestly, most of the human population is F-rank. There are some exceptions, with your son being one. Most of the people that successfully awaken don't stay human."
"Well, this conversation is over. I need to prepare, for this is going to be one hell of a fight."
Sophie's mother disappeared as if she had never existed. The Demon Lord said, "Come forth, my twelve Demon Knights." Suddenly, all twelve appeared in the room as if they had spontaneously materialized into existence. The Demon Lord smiled. "It's time to prepare for the space fight. Crystal is a valuable asset. Her ability to survive in a vacuum without the need for a life support barrier is critical. The number of life support bracelets has already reached the maximum we can reasonably create before the upcoming battle. Those things take a very long time to make, and the materials they require are quite valuable and expensive, making mass production impractical. We should hand them out to our most elite soldiers who are unable to cast the life support barrier themselves," She said.
"We should begin training powerful individuals with tons of mana to cast the life support barrier themselves. Whether they supply the barrier themselves or use the bracelet, it will greatly limit their ability to fight in space. Although the bracelet will free up their own mana for more powerful defensive and offensive measures, it will take a very long time to recharge the bracelet. They can only continuously fight for two days. That might sound like a long time, but when dealing with a massive horde of space bugs, it will be just a fleeting moment," he continued.
"I want Sophie as one of the commanders. Her ability to survive in a vacuum will allow her to operate for long periods of time even if she runs completely dry of mana. She'll be able to survive in the vacuum. Also, the fact that she doesn't need to charge a bracelet and doesn't need to supply her own mana to fuel a life support barrier spell will maintain her mana recovery rate we be much higher. Most people will be wasting several days charging the bracelets just for two days of combat. After that, those that have the life support barrier will have to retreat back to one of the airships, where they're basically sitting ducks, or to our space station. It's more advantageous to have our main force focused on the space station. We'll have the elite units fly around through space and harass the enemy. Sophie will be in charge of that unit since her ability to survive in a vacuum indefinitely also she can gain nourishment from sunlight in addition to food. She'll be able to recover while being in the vacuum of space even without supplies. This is truly a critical and strategic aspect of this fight."
