chapter 54: pointless argument and foreshadowing
We continue through the shopping street. "Wait, where did you get that parasol and kimono?" Sophie asked me.
"Oh, I bought them at one of those shops," I replied.
We headed to another store that was bigger on the inside, filled with fancy jewelry, many pieces adorned with runedek enchantments. Stylish and practical, we wandered around until I happened to run into my brother.
He had been kicked out of the house because he lost his Quidditch game, although the ranks weren't as important as one might think. It's true that ranks are just a starting point, with the exception of S-ranks, which have ridiculous growth rates, almost like a protagonist in anime—except without the plot armor.
"So, how have you been doing since you got kicked out of the house for losing your Quidditch game?" I asked.
He scoffed. "Says you, the favorite. I mean, I was S-rank, but anything other than S-rank is just a starting point. You can easily become quite powerful if you are willing to put in the hard work and effort in."
He scoffed again. "Though, you look quite old. It's weird—last time I saw you, you weren't this old. You're aging very fast."
He paused and said, "It's been 50 years."
"Wait, really?" I asked, surprised. "Wait Sophie did you know it's been 50 years no I thought it was a few months at most and even that's pushing it?"
"Man, that's scary. I think it’s already been 50 years. It definitely hasn't felt like 50 years," I said.
"My fairy familiar Alex said it's only 50 years. It's not that long,"
My brother is a high human with a lifespan of around 200 years, so he’s almost dead.
"Who you calling 'almost dead'? Well, you’re not going to live very long. I think 50 years is a lot."
Alex just looked confused and said, "For long-lived races, their sense of time is very different from humans'. Humans’ perception of time is much faster than ours due to their very short lifespans."
Meanwhile, why this meaningless argument continued? About how, my brother was about to keel over from old age. Outside the solar system, spots of red lightning began appearing. These red lightning spots solidified into full lightning bolts and then began dancing until they formed a lightning ball. The energy was ominous. This energy kept condensing, signaling that a space dungeon was about to appear. The Demon Lord quickly stopped her discussion with Crystal's mother and looked up at the sky.
"We are running out of time. Are you planning to break your seal?" she asked.
The name she said was incomprehensible to all who heard it. This was the sign of a truly powerful being—a name that couldn't be spoken or understood by ordinary beings. This is one of the abilities of powerful entities. They could also immediately monitor anyone who invoked their name. In other words, saying the name of a sufficiently powerful being would allow that being to know you were talking about them.
