Chapter 26 : Dash
"5 copper coins?!!" a random player yelled.
He immediately inches closer to Nash, scrutinizing him with a large pair of eyes, trying to sniff out the fraudster in him.
However, Nash was being honest.
It was just that he was offering five times the normal price for a wolf liver.
It was not even a rare commodity and could easily go for 1 copper coin per piece, and here was Nash, offering 5 copper coins.
Not long after he parted ways with Eileen did he find this small group of players.
Nash scratched the back of his head and laughed sheepishly. "I kind of need them urgently, you see. Plus I didn't want to be going back and forth with the prices."
"Give us a second."
Nash nodded, allowing them a moment so they could discuss among themselves.
The group murmured in low tones so Nash couldn't hear them, but all in all, they took the offer.
It was expected that they would.
They thought they had come across a rich player and wouldn't dare miss an opportunity like this.
The way they saw it, if they rejected Nash now and falsely assumed him to be lying, they would have burnt the bridge with him, but if they offered him the help he needed, he would remember them again.
"We have a lot of it, sir."
Nash's nerves cracked in a second as he heard that.
'Sir?' he thought. 'Since when did they start adding honorifics when addressing him.'
"What do you want them for anyway?" one of the members asked as he transferred the wolf liver from his inventory to Nash's.
Nash breathed out and started to explain. "I received an exhausting mission that asked me to gather a lot of wolf liver and until I do so, I can't get my rewards for the quest."
The members of the group looked at each other.
'He's willing to spend five times the amount for a mission?'
'He must indeed be rich or the rewards of the mission must be mouthwatering.'
They easily believed his crappy story that he made up on the spot just to avoid telling them the real truth.
Right after they had finished the transaction of the wolf liver, the group parted ways with Nash, waving him goodbye and hoping they would cross paths in the near future.
Nash had gone from groups to groups, even individual players, making deals just to gather as many wolf liver as he wanted.
Meanwhile, a certain player was observing him, carefully studying how he was effortlessly buying the item off other players.
None of Nash's interactions with these people lasted so long and this person could not detect any hostilities or disagreement between the two parties.
This person glanced at a book that was sitting comfortably on the ground and sighed.
'Maybe he can buy this from me too,' this person thought, getting up and walking straight to where Nash was.
******
Nash had just finished a transaction when someone approached Nash with a book in his hand.
He glanced at the book and at the person, failing to recognise either.
Nash just kept staring at this person, not saying a single word.
There was absolute silence between them for complete one or two minutes before the stranger finally gathered enough courage to speak.
"Can you buy this from me?" the person asked, raising the book to Nash, who looked at it critically.
'A skill book?' he thought, easily recognising it. 'But why would someone sell a skill book? They are harder to get than skill scrolls.'
"I know you must be wondering why I'm selling my skill book to you," this person said as they proceeded to pull down the cloak hood over their head, revealing a tender feminine face to Nash.
She placed her palm over her chest and continued to explain. "I'm a mage and the skill in this skill book is useless to me."
"What skill is that?" Nash fired right back.
"It's called [Dash]. It's an agility boost type of skill. You can check it if you don't believe me," she said, handing the book over to him.
Nash touched the book and some information on it appeared for him to read.
…
[Dash]
Type: Skill Book
This skill book allows its user to run a distance of 10 metres at 200% of their current agility stat. (Cooldown time: 30 seconds)
…
'Not bad,' Nash thought. He already quickly thought of the sick combo this will make if he ever combines it with [Stun Strike] and [Thrust].
"How much are you selling it for?"
"50,000 copper coins," the player answered immediately.
"You're kidding, right?" Nash replied back, keeping a straight face.
He didn't understand why he would get a skill like [Dash] for such an amount when he managed to get [Stealth] for less half of the amount she was mentioning right now.
"5,000," Nash bargained.
The mage scoffed. "47,000."
"10,000."
"40,000," the mage fired right back.
"25,000 and that's it. Take it or leave it," Nash answered, taking a firm stance.
He needed the skill because of what he offered but he never thought he would spend a price that was more than he used for [Stealth] on it.
It was better and more advantageous for him to have such a skill now than waiting to get it the proper way where he would need to be level 10 to learn it from a master.
"I want the book but there is a little problem," Nash said.
"What's that?" asked the mage.
Nash exhaled. "I don't have such an amount but I promise you, if you can hold off selling it for a few hours, I will definitely buy it. I just need to clear a few dungeons and I will have something to do the business with."
The mage frowned a little bit. She was not going to stay put until whenever he succeeded with clearing some more dungeons before she could sell her items.
"Allow me to send you a request," the mage suggested. "That way, you can easily share your location with me whenever you want to."
Nash, though not willing at first, finally agreed.
"Neon."
"Okay. You will see it now," the mage said. "I'm LadyFlame."
