Chapter 334: The Curtain Rises (Part 2)
They are the contributors who helped the Seleucid people "recover their homeland," and they are the absolute pillars of this war.
From a god's viewpoint, without the Empire's intervention, the Allied Forces would have had to endure years of fighting and resistance to barely possess the strength to contend with the Dragon Worship Cult's legion.
Moreover, unlike Cassius who is well-versed in history, many Seleucid people believe that if it weren't for the Ashen Empire extending a helping hand and saving them from dire straits, they would have been completely wiped out in the battle of Green Valley Town.
"Everyone—the war is about to begin!"
Among the formations of the army, the officers possessing Red Dragon Bloodline stood on high ground, waving their gleaming sabers, and shouted energetically: "Remember, we are warriors of His Majesty Cassius! On this continent, no enemy has yet been able to withstand our assault!"
"Glory, wealth, and strength await you on the battlefield; tear apart those damned followers of Tiamat, and you will get everything you desire!"
"For the Empire! For His Majesty Cassius!"
Imperial Soldiers raised their weapons high, with an ocean-like roar that echoed wave after wave across the plateau, impassioned and stirring.
Outside the Imperial Legion, the second most numerous among the Allied Forces are the native soldiers of Seleucis, numbering about 120,000, with many having the occupations of Paladins and warriors.
Most of these native soldiers were displaced, wandering aimlessly under the ravages of the Dragon Disaster, eventually being recruited by Duke Adrian.
Many of them lost their family and friends in that dreadful disaster, bearing a hatred engraved in their bones for the Dragon Worship Church, the evil dragons, and their minions, though some soldiers were left with deep psychological scars, which they still find difficult to overcome.
Adrian grasped his sword with both hands, carrying Duke Franz's heavy great sword, standing at the top of the hill overlooking the soldiers below, his tone heavy and resolute:
"The departed loved ones and comrades are watching us, how can we tolerate those filthy cultists desecrating our homeland, ravaging the land that belongs to the Fadlan people?"
"We must defeat the Dragon Worship Church at all costs, letting the light of freedom shine over the land of Seleucis once again! Let Holy Fadlan regain its glory!"
"I once promised Duke Franz to bury his body in Sunset City, and I want to bring him and you all back to our homeland!"
Before his words were finished, Adrian raised his long sword, countless rays of light converged at the tip of the sword, forming a dazzling orb of light, displaying the emblem of Seleucis within.
"For Seleucis, for Holy Fadlan!"
"Home! Home!" The soldiers also shouted vigorously, their tones excited, with many voices carrying hoarse sobbing.
They have been away from that land for many years, living a nomadic life, chased and hunted by Dragonborn and monsters, and in the tense and perilous life, many soldiers have even become accustomed to such wandering days, forgetting what life in a peaceful era should truly be like.
Now, upon hearing Adrian's words, they gradually thought of the lost loved ones and friends, and thought of that wonderful homeland, their emotions exploded instantly, uncontrollably.
Although the Seleucid soldiers are numerous, in terms of importance and destructiveness on the battlefield, they are not as significant as the legion formed by the Metal Dragon Clan.
Under Bahamut's command, hundreds of metal dragons have gathered here, including commonly seen metal dragons like Gold Dragons, Silver Dragons, and Brass Dragons, and also Iron Dragons and Tungsten Dragons who are antagonistic towards Chromatic Dragons.
On the Fianso Continent, an occasion of so many metal dragons gathered together hasn't been seen for over a thousand years.
This group of giant dragons with metallic sheen moved their wings under the sunlight, creating gusts of winds and emitting loud roars, the rays reflecting off their scales were so bright that many could not keep their eyes open.
The commander of this legion, Bahamut's messenger, the enormous Ancient Gold Dragon Dionysus, flew high into the sky, spreading his broad Dragon Wings, he extended his Dragon Claw, showcasing the Holy Scale from the Platinum Dragon King, its surface emitting a thin and holy glow.
The Ancient Gold Dragon slowly began, his tone calm and composed: "Fellow kin, this is an order from His Majesty Bahamut, we must fully assist the Allied Forces in defeating the Dragon Worship Church.
However, even without this order, we must do the same; this is a responsibility that every metal dragon is obligated to bear!"
He paused slightly in his speech, raising his head slightly, his tone turning passionate: "Ladies and gentlemen, do you wish to see the Mother of Evil Dragons descend upon the world—watching helplessly as She and Her offspring ravage the land, destroying justice and order?"
Do you wish to see flourishing cities burn in dragonflame, magnificent civilizations be laid to ruin, innocent beings wailing under the shadow of evil dragon wings?"
Near the Sword Bay Region, there are several renowned cities such as Waterdeep City (Waterdeep), Elturel (Elturel), Neverwinter (Neverwinter), etc. Waterdeep City is built on the ruins of Erin Vier, the capital of the Elf Empire Ilfaen, having numerous temples of divine beings, the Miracle Temple is the most grandiose Magic Goddess Temple in the game, with luxurious high towers, embedded with various paintings and magical decorations, filled with the luxurious Baroque style, while Neverwinter City leans more towards Gothic architectural style, formed after being developed for nearly a hundred years from the earliest human settlement Aegostor, and the Main City Bod Gate is the largest, most prosperous trade city-state in the Sword Bay Region, from nobles to commoner thieves, it is a mixed bag, known by adventurers as a "breeding ground for conspiracies." Bod Gate is named after a hero, Bodlan the Adventurer of Gray Harbor, who once explored the mainland beyond Sword Sea, returning with wealth to Gray Harbor, leading a team and building a city there. According to the status of the residents, Bod Gate is divided into the noble Upper City District and the commoner Lower District, and the Outer City District scattered around Chenyi Mountain surrounding the Main City, the gate separating the Upper City and the Lower District is called Bod Gate, the entire city is named after it, also serving as a monument to the city's founder Bodlan. Currently, Bod Gate is ruled by a four-man council, with each member being a Great Duke, one of whom is the leader of the council, and if a tie occurs during voting, Great Duke Elder Ravenclaw will make the decision. The Upper City District's law and order is maintained by the official police force consisting of elite ranks known as the Guard (Watch), other areas are maintained by a mercenary group known as the "Flaming Fist", with Great Duke Elder Ravenclaw also being the highest leader of the mercenary group. The headquarters of the mercenary group is located in Bodlan Sea Tower, the strongest fortress against maritime invasions for Bod Gate, and encircling Bod Gate like a crescent is its economic lifeline—Gray Harbor. Daily, hundreds of merchant ships enter and leave, bringing Gold Coins, as well as greed and crime. The Upper City District is of relatively high elevation, composed of Castle District, Temple District, Manoburn District, and Wide Alley District, having numerous religious buildings, Miracle Hall, and Supreme Miracle House, both are centers of the Church of God of Craft, Gund at Bod Gate, Miracle Hall displays great inventions crafted by Gund, while Supreme Miracle House also serves as a workshop. The Lower District mostly consists of stone houses, having six districts namely Sea Tower District, Blonrich District, Steep District, Crowded Side District, East Road District, Branpton District, the middle class generally resides close to the nobility in Blonrich District, while closer to Stone Lizard Gate connecting Outer City District in East Road District, it is relatively more mixed, having many bustling taverns and cheap hotels. Sea Tower District is the area stationed by the Flaming Fist mercenary group, situated relative to the largest rocky offshore island near the Sea Tower District where the mercenary group's headquarters are built in Bodlan Sea Tower, Branpton District and Steep District are comparatively rundown, being the living communities for sailors and laborers. The Outer City District is distributed along the Chongsar River, gathering temporary buildings and slums, the landmark being a stone bridge-crossing Chongsar River—Flying Dragon Crossroad, gathering many vendors, even extending the bridge with planks and constructing many buildings on it, law and order do not exist here, even the Flaming Fist mercenary group's protective range is very limited, many of those who cannot settle in the city, or criminals, gather here.
