Ascension of Chaos

B2 | Chapter 43

Of course, it actually ends up taking a little while for the two remaining hunters to actually, well, make it to me. And it's not like I can climb down to them. Not when I have to stay on the pyramid's peak.

So I sit here for a couple hours while the two hunters very slowly navigate their way around the very badly destroyed sides of the pyramid. All while avoiding any of the destruction affinity lava still pooled up on the sides of it.

Which is rather boring for me. But at least it gives me a little bit of time to recover energy while I wait.

Not much energy, but some.

As for whether they try to surrender or not? I have no idea.

It's possible they have and it's possible they haven't.

At this point I don't really care. They were the ones who decided to enter the System Events, so they pay the price.

And everyone in the universe knows the risks.

Even I know them. It's just unrealistic to enter an Official System Event and not know that the others in it are aiming to kill you with any chance they've got.

Anyway, the hunters eventually make it up to the peak of the pyramid at which point they find me still sitting down on my little throne. And while they take a moment to study me, I do the same to them.

The last two hunters left have very differently colored hair. With the woman having long blonde hair and the man having red hair.

And it's not just their hair that's different, but their expressions as well.

The woman looks very calm and collected, albeit a little nervous. Meanwhile the man looks excited.

I can also sense destruction mana in the man, which probably marks him as a destruction mage.

Guess that's how he survived.

I'm not really sure how the woman survived though. Unless she just found some nook to hide in on the side of the pyramid.

When I look at their levels, I surprisingly find them to be higher than my own. Which is rather surprising in and of itself.

That said, for some reason the grin on the man's face is getting on my nerves. It's arrogant and almost like he's trying to tell me that destruction magic won't work on him or something like that.

I go ahead and let go of the control I had on my gaze, making my Gaze of Destruction burn into them as they catch their breath. Snapping them out of studying me in return as the arrogance on the man's face immediately crumbles. Along with the cracks starting to form on his body.

There we go.

Maybe I can kill them without even getting up from my throne. That would be nice.

After a brief pause, both of them begin to move around in some sort of attempt to avoid my gaze. Which works to some extent. Simply because when they move to opposite sides of the pyramid's peak I can't exactly look at both of them at the same time.

Then the two begin sending attacks my way. With the blonde haired girl raising her hands and firing off some sort of beam of light at me while the man throws orbs of destruction mana.

I slap the orbs while turning my attention to the beam of light, sending the orbs flying with my physical strength and resistance to destruction alone as I decide that the destruction mage won't really be able to do anything to me. Only for the beam of light to shatter the barrier of destruction mana I make in front of me. Surprising me before the beam slams into my arm that I raise in front of my face.

The beam actually burns through the sleeve of my specialized armor jacket and into my arm itself a little bit. But that's all it does.

They're both mages, so this won't take long.

I stand up from my throne before moving so fast over to the woman that I break the sound barrier, sending out a loud clapping sound as I appear right in front of her and grab her throat with my hand. Right as I transform said hand into one covered in claws and scales.

When I feel destruction magic slamming into my back and doing absolutely nothing to me, I turn towards the destruction mage, whose arrogance has been completely wiped off his face at this point. Completely replaced with terror instead.

Why do I feel like some evil monster or villain in this scenario?

"The audience seems to love it," Chaos comments while sounding a little too amused.

Hmm. Well, I'm not here to play to their fancies.

I snap the woman's neck before throwing her corpse straight at the man with red hair, making her corpse move so quickly that the man can't even dodge as it slams into him. Sending him and the corpse both flying straight off the pyramid's peak and into the lava below.

Well that didn't take long. Even without much energy left, and no mana left.

"That's what we call brute forcing things with physical strength, dear Ash," Chaos says with even more amusement in his tone this time than last time. Meanwhile the Planetary Official System Event comes to a close and I'm teleported to a large platform in the middle of the bleachers. With loud cheers echoing all around me. "You won't always have physical superiority though. Keep that in mind. There will be Class C hunters who are all the way at the Class C maximum level of level 750. And the higher Classes beyond Class C will have even larger level gaps as the range of levels in the Class increase."

Huh. You're right. I kind of forgot that the range of levels increases with every Class.

"Would you be willing to give us an interview, Your Highness?" the MC asks while floating up to me with a look of excitement covering her face.

But I just leave the Planetary Official System Event without a word now that it's over. Because I have rewards to look at. And those rewards are far more important than making some random strangers happy with my presence.

"That MC is blanking out now that you've left," Chaos says while laughing.

Too bad. Not my problem.

Anyway, my rewards end up being rather nice for this event.

I spent about 152 minutes with the crown, seeing as the event ended early. Which makes for 1520 SP. Then there's the 3000 SP reward for winning first place. Followed by the 5000 SP reward from being the MVP.

And last but not least, the eighty eight users I killed with my flooding the island along with the two I killed after. Which makes another 2250 SP.

So overall this Planetary Official System Event netted me a total of 11770 Skill Points total. And that's not even considering the dozens upon dozens of new Skill Trees I got from this.

Although I ignore the Skill Tree I got from that destruction mage. Because it's useless to me and far inferior to my Queen of Destruction Unique Skill Tree.

I move through my Spire until I arrive at the very top of the structure. Only to pause as another notification amongst the rewards catches my attention, reminding me of a reward I completely forgot about. Other than the free level up that I got alongside the rest of Val's denizens.

Congratulations! You have now been given control over a new Spire that has just formed on the planet of Val!

A map of the Spire's location is now being sent to you.

Right. Forgot about that.

A map appears in front of me in the form of another screen. One with a large tower marked right inside of a different major city.

Huh. Guess I have territory inside of two cities now rather than just one.

That's nice. I guess.

But more importantly, my Skill Points.

What should I spend them on…

I want to get the most out of my Skill Points, but I also want some diversity. And while the Queen of Destruction skills are incredibly expensive, the other Skill Trees aren't even a fraction of their price.

On top of that, I don't absolutely need anything specific from the Queen of Destruction Unique Skill Tree right now.

So I think the best plan of action right now is to buy one skill from the Queen of Destruction Unique Skill Tree before spending the rest on skills from other Skill Trees. Just to keep things varied.

Although I might buy two from the Queen of Destruction Unique Skill Tree.

After all, the first magic focused skill, Queen's Affinity, and the second physical skill, Queen's Warpath, both seem interesting.

The first of them increases my affinity with destruction mana by 20%, increasing my overall control of destruction mana and making destruction magic easier. Meanwhile the second is a berserk skill that drastically increases my physical strength for a short period of time while my body slowly begins to destroy itself.

Albeit with the berserk skill being cancelable and not affecting my thoughts.

But before I choose them I should take a look at the rest of my Skill Trees.

Of which there are many.
