Ascension of Chaos

B2 | Chapter 41

Somewhere within the Planetary Official System Event

Gladiatur dol Vente feels confident as he talks amongst the group of other planetary representatives about their plan against the Queen of Destruction. Because even if she is the Queen of Destruction and the Princess of Chaos, she is still just a single girl. One no older than his own granddaughter. And he refuses to believe that this singular child can face off against ninety-seven champions and stand victorious.

That's why he went through the trouble of sneaking an official into the planet the girl comes from in order to figure out which Planetary Official System Event her world would be entering. Then he got together with all the other planets entering that same event to form this alliance.

The Anti-Destruction alliance.

And to even his own surprise, he managed to get every last hunter of the event to join the alliance except for two.

So at this point they're just hashing out the final details of their plan before making their move when the clock strikes ten minutes.

He isn't worried about giving the Queen a free ten minutes on the throne. After all, she'll be knocked off the throne soon enough.

Or at least, that's what he's managed to convince himself of.

The moment he feels a massive wave of destruction energy flooding from the pyramid and turns to look at it, he begins to question if his plan was a good idea or not.

And more importantly, if it was a good idea even entering the same event as her.

Because the sight he sees implies otherwise.

Well… shit…

Within the Planetary Official System Event's Spectating Stadium

"And it looks like we're about to see another classic Ashley, the Queen of Destruction, moment!!!" Astrid shouts as the pixie flies around the stadium with her excitement clearly visible on her face. Meanwhile the audience watching along with her goes wild at the sight of what is going on within the actual event's arena. On the island.

If Astrid's being honest, she didn't feel even the tiniest bit slighted by the Queen of Destruction turning off her interviews. Because she knew it would likely happen, and she knew the Queen of Destruction's mere presence would be enough to skyrocket her career's success.

And most importantly, because she herself is a fan of the Queen of Destruction.

So she watches with bated breath as the Queen of Destruction lazily sits upon her throne at the peak of the pyramid. Then the woman begins to activate one skill after another. Sending a flood of lava, ash, flames, and even rocks all spilling out over the sides of the pyramid. Meanwhile thunder clouds begin to form high above the pyramid.

"Ashley isn't holding back at all this time around!" Astrid continues with a wide and ecstatic grin covering her face.

The thunder clouds continue to grow larger and larger, spreading out to cover the entire island as thunder and lightning begin to flash from within them. All while the lava, ash, flames, and rock all spread across the ground of the island.

Almost like they're sinking the entire island under volcanic substances.

All the other hunters who were gathered together immediately begin to move towards the outer edges of the island while protecting themselves with skills. With the ones capable of flight flying above the ground to avoid the danger entirely.

This tale has been pilfered from Royal Road. If found on Amazon, kindly file a report.

Until the lightning begins to grow more intense and strikes the ground and everything in the air. First crashing down on one of the flying hunters and making them fall down into the lava and ash below.

With their entire body disintegrating when they enter the destruction affinity lava.

Cheers resound throughout the stadium from the fans of Ashley Chaos. But at the same time, the spectators from the ninety-nine other planets watching the event all go deathly silent. Both out of fear for their worlds' champions and fear of what losing this event will mean for them.

And Astrid's sure the people on Ashley's world are no doubt celebrating as they watch.

The lava and ash continue moving out to cover the entire island before large spell circles suddenly begin to appear around Ashley above her with massive rocks made of magma shooting out of them like a real eruption from a volcano. Said rocks then shoot through the sky until they make a large splash in the lava and ash covering the island, devouring all the trees and living creatures on the island.

"The Queen of Destruction shows off her power with grace, elegance, and nothing but utter destruction left in her wake!" Astrid shouts with glee clear in her words. Glee shared with a large majority of the audience as they cheer. "Perfectly befitting her namesake Title!"

All of the surviving hunters – which still amount to about three quarters of them – gather up on the shores of the island as both the lava and ash approach them as well as the poisonous water and mist from around the island.

But despite their struggle, the source of it all just lazily sits upon her throne at the top of the pyramid with only a small amount of sweat dripping from her in her exhaustion. With the girl resting her cheek against her fist, and her elbow on the armrest of the throne. Almost like she doesn't have a care in the world about the enemy hunters.

Like a true Queen.

Astrid's sure clips of this are going to go viral across the System Forums in no time.

And so they should!

The lightning and lava continue to gradually whittle away at the other hunters, slaughtering one of them after another. All while Ashley's own potential skill count visible to the audience rises with each kill. Clearly showing that distance between her and the ones she kills doesn't matter in the slightest so long as she's responsible for killing them.

And the hunters who were just in an alliance, looking all so confident about their chances?

Astrid now watches them panicking for their lives, with a great many of them clearly wishing to surrender but with only half of the remaining survivors being able to as the other half is blocked by their own people.

It's dark, but that's just how these things go. Some representatives in individual Planetary Official System Events are nothing more than sacrifices for their nations. They can either win the event for them and bring glory, or die trying.

And soon enough, the lava and ash finally cover the rest of the island. Sinking it beneath lava and ash with nothing but some trees and the peaks of the mountains still visible aside from the pyramid. With Ashley herself still sitting lazily upon the throne as lightning flashes and thunder booms across the island's skies.

"Oh? What is this?!" Astrid shouts as she notices the leaderboards, which show two hunters still living within the event other than Ashley herself. "Two hunters have somehow survived the Queen's attacks! Let's see what they're up to!"

With that, the MC immediately focuses the livestream on one of the two hunters. Showing them slowly climbing the side of the pyramid, albeit while currently taking a break gasping for breath even as the lava and ash continue to pour down specific areas of the pyramid's sides next to them.

"It looks like one of them has managed to find a safe location inside of the pyramid," Astrid says, sounding a little impressed with this particular hunter.

The hunter in question is a woman with long blonde hair and over a thousand potential skills.

After her, the screen changes to show another hunter who is currently charging up the other side of the pyramid with a wide grin on his face. The red haired man using destruction magic himself to shield him from the lava and ash around him.

"A destruction mage? That's not common," Astrid states with more than a little surprise.

But she still doesn't believe they have even the slightest bit of a chance against her. Especially not with destruction magic.

She turns the focus of the screen to show the entire pyramid again as the lava and ash begin to slow down in their flow. Meanwhile the lightning begins to focus around the pyramid itself, with quite a few bolts striking Ashley and making volts of electricity arc across her body as she sits on the throne.

Just waiting for the last two enemies to reach her with her two crowns on and above her head.

"Shall we see how they face up to the queen?" Astrid says, riling up the audience even more. "Or will they be destroyed before even arriving?"

Her grin grows even wider as she finishes, "Only time will tell."
