B2 | Chapter 40
Ashley
I immediately find the description of the Planetary Official System Event appearing as I myself appear within it at the center of a large platform hovering above an island. And while the audience is going absolutely wild at my appearance, I ignore them to read it.
Ruler of the Island
Description: This Individual Challenge Event will place a total of 100 users evenly spread out around the shores of a large island with a single pyramid at the center of the island. At the top of the pyramid will be a single crown sitting on top of a throne, where the users will fight for control over the crown and the pyramid's peak.
User Count: 91/100
Rules: Users must claim the crown and hold it for the longest to win. The event will last for a total of three hours. Users may not revive in any way should they be killed during the event. Users may attack anyone they please regardless of who holds the crown. The crown holder must always be at the peak of the pyramid, and will lose the crown should they leave the pyramid's peak. The water around the island will cause poison damage to anyone who steps within it. The mist around the island above the water will cause poison damage to anyone who flies into it. The water and mist surrounding the island will slowly move inwards, sinking the island into its depths over the course of the three hours, ending when all there is left to safely stand is the peak of the pyramid.
Victory Condition: The user that holds the crown the longest wins the event.
Rewards: Every user slain grants the winner 25 Skill Points. Every minute spent as the crown holder will grant the holder 10 Skill Points. First place user receives an additional 3000 Skill Points. Second Place user receives an additional 1000 Skill Points. Third Place user receives an additional 500 Skill Points. The player with the most kills during the tournament shall be granted the MVP title for the Planetary Official System Event and shall receive 5000 Skill Points.
Planetary Rewards: The planet that achieves victory in this match shall be granted one new Spire that will be under the rule of the individual who won the event and a single free level given to every user of the planet.
This shouldn't take that long. It'll also give me a free Spire.
As for how many Skill Points I'll get from this event… if I kill half the users in it, then that would be a thousand two hundred and fifty Skill Points, along with the three thousand from winning and hopefully the five thousand from the MVP role. And last but certainly not least, ten Skill Points for every minute spent on the pyramid.
Judging by what I can see through the invisible floor I'm standing on of this lobby, it'll probably take me three to five minutes to reach the pyramid. Depending on whether other people try to interfere with my progress or not.
Which is looking rather likely considering the glances everyone else here is sending me while they're grouping up on one side of the lobby. Almost like they're all planning on teaming up against me.
Yeah, to be honest, that's kind of to be expected. And it's not unlike what most of the other Official System Events I've participated in have done recently.
So why should a Planetary Official System Event be any different?
If you encounter this narrative on Amazon, note that it's taken without the author's consent. Report it.
Well, anyways, I go ahead and begin to stretch a little bit while I wait for the last people to join the event. And when they do, the MC hosting the event immediately gets to work.
"Welcome one and all! To the Ruler of the Island event facing champions from one hundred different newly initialized worlds into the System!" the MC shouts over the roaring of the audience. All while she flies around on pixie wings with glee on her face. "In this event, we'll be seeing several fan favorites amongst the new worlds! But as many of you may have noticed, we have one who surpasses all the others! The Queen of Destruction herself, Ashleeeeey Chaooooossss!!!!"
The audience begins roaring even louder at that, and when the pixie MC begins to float down towards me, I immediately turn on no interviews to make it so that they at least can't talk directly to me. Even if I can still hear their shouting.
"Ya can't blame them for wanting to talk with the most important person there," Chaos says with a chuckle, his voice echoing in my head as usual.
Yes I can.
The MC in question decides to move on to ask the others about how they feel going against me. And not a single one looks excited about it.
Which makes sense. After all, people can't surrender in Planetary Official System Events without permission from their Planetary Council. So they're stuck here if their council doesn't want to let them out.
On top of that, they have no choice but to compete since every world has to do a certain number of Planetary Official System Events regularly.
It's rather pitiful for them, but I'm not going to be taking pity on any of them. Not when I know for sure they wouldn't do the same for me.
The Official System Events are brutal after all.
Plus there's the little fact that they're forming an army of 97 hunters to fight me. All of whom are the strongest hunters of their respective worlds.
So I don't feel any pity.
"And you're right for that," Chaos says, sounding like he's nodding his head with pride for some reason. "You shouldn't feel sorry for those beneath you."
Right. Forgot he thinks like a god. What with how he always talks to me.
Anyways, once the MC is finished interviewing everyone, she goes ahead and starts the event. Making everyone here teleport to the outskirts of the island.
From what I saw in the lobby, the island is a massive circle. One with a coast surrounding it in a perfect ring and a stretch of mountains leading into the island, followed at last by a forest with the pyramid at the center of it all.
So I jump up into the air before enhancing my wings with numerous skills including but not limited to Terran Wings of Destruction, Strength Enhancement, and just pure mana. Then I proceed to fly straight over the mountains on my way towards the pyramid.
Meanwhile I see those closest to me immediately moving away from me without any hesitation. Almost like they're avoiding me.
And thanks to that I make it all the way to the top of the large, green and black pyramid without any interference whatsoever.
Huh. Guess I didn't have to worry about that after all.
I fly up to the peak of the pyramid before walking over to the large throne standing atop the peak. A peak that's about fifty or so meters long and in the shape of a square. Then I grab the shiny crown, making a green glowing crown appear floating above my head. And above my own crown.
Which looks odd, but whatever.
Nothing wrong with the Queen of Destruction having two crowns I guess.
More importantly, the timer for my time with the crown appears in the corner of my vision in the form of what looks like a leaderboards. Probably to show how long each user has had the crown.
I walk over to the edge of the pyramid's peak to look at the surrounding forests as the timer continues ticking upwards. But what I see has me narrowing my eyes as I let my Gaze of Destruction turn back on.
The enemies are all grouping together. Which likely implies that they're going to try swarming the pyramid all at once.
Other than that though, there are two users in the event who aren't with them. And weren't with them in the lobby either.
I don't like unknown factors, but I should be able to sense them if they get anywhere near me at least. So they shouldn't be a problem.
Shouldn't being the key word.
Entire minutes pass without a single user dying in the event as I stand up here watching the surroundings of the pyramid. Occasionally managing to hurt one of the other users when they are caught by my direct gaze. But not actually managing to kill any of them that way.
I continue looking around for a bit before letting out a sigh.
Well, if they're going to do this, then I might as well deal with this in my own way.
"You get em sweetie!" Chaos shouts with some sounds that I swear sound like someone eating popcorn coming alongside his words through our bond. Which has me narrowing my eyes for a moment. "What father wouldn't eat popcorn while his daughter is slaughtering lower beings?"
That has me raising a brow in slight bemusement. But only for a moment.
Because it's time to break the way this event is supposed to be run.
I walk over to the throne before lazily sitting on it and beginning my plan.
