Chapter 63
Chapter 63: Building the Framework
After returning home, Wang Huan enjoyed a deep sleep. He slept so soundly that he didn’t wake up until late the next morning. Recently, he had been filled with concerns and fears, unable to eat or sleep well. The level of psychological stress he experienced was unimaginable. Fortunately, Fang Jian stepped in and resolved everything, even though it came at the cost of a significant debt and an everlasting sense of indebtedness. Wang Huan’s attitude had completely shifted.
Yesterday, Fang Jian casually inquired, and today, seeing that Wang Huan’s mood had improved, they officially discussed the matter. Even though Wang Huan now knew that his long-time friend had deceived him, he couldn’t fathom why he had done it this time. After receiving an advance payment of ten million, the person disappeared without a trace, and not even his relatives in his hometown knew where he had gone. This was a classic absconding case. Everyone knew the money was gone for good.
Wang Huan sipped his drink and sighed, “I just can’t figure out why he had to deceive me this time.” He finished his glass and continued, “We’ve collaborated three times before, although the amounts were smaller, and we never encountered any issues when doing business abroad. But this time…”
He self-mockingly added, “Officials and lawyers all say he set a trap for me. In the past, it was just small-scale stuff, perhaps to make me lower my guard, and then he’d make a big profit and vanish.”
Fang Jian silently shared a drink with Wang Huan, but considering his attitude, he felt concerned and asked, “Master, do you still doubt that he deceived you?”
Wang Huan paused, shook his head without expression, took another sip of his drink, and said, “Actions speak louder than words. I won’t be naive anymore, so don’t worry.”
Fang Jian nodded gently, understanding that his master was showing determination. However, seeing the hint of pain in his master’s eyes, Fang Jian couldn’t help but feel a sense of reluctance. He knew better than to ask for the person’s name, hoping that this person would vanish from their lives entirely.
However, Wang Huan had previously given many instructions, so Fang Jian easily obtained the person’s name. Wang Huan settled with his former company, which agreed not to sue, and both parties voluntarily terminated the labor contract. Of course, they had to compensate for the bail money.
After handling everything, Fang Jian asked Wang Huan to take some time to rest, but Wang Huan insisted on not giving up. Helplessly, Fang Jian asked Wang Huan to collect information on minerals, used equipment, and materials from various countries.
Upon hearing Fang Jian’s request, Wang Huan was filled with confusion. He couldn’t quite grasp what Fang Jian had in mind.
Wasn’t his intention to become a global purchasing agent, traveling worldwide? That was his old profession, after all. However, when he looked at the vast amount of information Fang Jian wanted to collect, Wang Huan felt overwhelmed and bewildered.
After contemplating, he asked, “Mr. Fang… for a company, there should always be flagship projects. What should I focus on?”
Since Wang Huan had willingly joined Fang Jian’s team, he had requested that they change their way of addressing each other. In a formal company, adhering to certain rules was essential. After some consideration, Fang Jian had agreed to this request.
Now, Fang Jian found it challenging to provide a clear answer. He understood that a company needed a stable project to secure continuous funding. However, the issue was that as a nation always striving for global excellence, there were countless areas where they fell short.
Sighing, Fang Jian suggested, “Mr. Wang, let’s start by establishing the framework and recruiting some people. How about focusing on… big data?”
Wang Huan’s lips twitched slightly as he silently nodded. This kind of instruction was a first for him, and he felt compelled to fulfill it due to Fang Jian’s favor. If it weren’t for that, he might have considered resigning.
The next day, Fang Jian left Shanghai, a city that had left little impression on him despite his numerous visits. After departing, he called Babouli.
“Hey, dear Fang, can I do anything for you?” Babouli inquired.
Fang Jian smiled slightly and replied, “The few pictures you sent last time were good. I’m willing to buy them. Arrange for delivery.”
“Alright, Fang, I’ll take care of it tomorrow,” Babouli agreed.
Fang Jian then asked, “By the way, there’s a person in Africa who also deals with the gold business, named Hang Wenshi. Do you know him?”
“Ah, that guy? I know him. He’s a good person. We even did business together before,” Babouli confirmed.
Fang Jian’s heart stirred, and he continued, “Good, he should still be in Africa. Please ask around if you can find him. And don’t alarm him.”
Babouli paused briefly before saying, “Okay, Fang, I understand.”
Having conducted business in Africa for many years, Babouli knew the ins and outs of the region well and didn’t need further instructions from Fang Jian. Fang Jian had merely asked casually, and then the matter was set aside.
As Fang Jian returned to Ningcheng amidst the car’s rumbling engine, he contemplated the next steps in his business endeavors.
