Chapter 183: A True God
*Bzzzzzzzz.*
The white ball of light got brighter and brighter. Floating in the air, Gensei looked like a sun falling from the sky.
"What... what is that?"
"It's blinding!"
"Is the sun... falling?!"
The whole district was in an uproar. Teachers and students all turned their eyes toward the location of the Advanced Education Bureau, not knowing what was really happening.
Even the people watching the livestream were speechless. They were stunned by how over-the-top Gensei's power effects looked.
Curly-haired Guy: Hey, hey! What's this guy trying to do?
Amegakure Village's Angel: With that kind of power, I'm pretty sure he could wipe out all of Academy City.
This is an Actor: Not just Academy City. If he lets that energy loose, all of Japan—and the ocean around it—would be gone too.
Doujin Artist: Holy crap, this is what a Level 6 looks like?
Soul Society's Bad Guy: Didn't Anran already say it? He's just a cheap knockoff. Not a real Level 6.
Machete Girl: Even a fake one can do all that?
This is an Actor: Yeah. A real Level 6 would be on the same level as an angel. With enough charge-up time, wiping out the whole planet would be easy.
Pretty Boy from Skull Island: If it's a demon god, wouldn't that be even stronger than an angel?
This is an Actor: Demon gods have levels too. Some are weaker, some stronger. The weakest are probably about as strong as angels.
Skirt-Flipping Maniac: Anran-san... are you really gonna be okay?
After seeing the power of this fake Level 6 for herself, Saten Ruiko had a much clearer idea of how scary angels and demon gods could be.
Before, she had no doubt Anran could take over the world. But now... she wasn't so sure.
Anran could already guess what she was thinking and sent a message back: Scared?
Skirt-Flipping Maniac: A little bit.
Ruiko didn't hide it—she gave an honest answer. She trusted Anran, but he was still just one person. And there wasn't just one demon god out there.
If things went wrong, she was ready to die with Anran. But her friends, her family, and all of humanity might get dragged into this too.
This is an Actor: Sounds like it's time for me to show what I can really do.
Anran didn't blame her. This kind of fear was totally normal. In fact, the fact that she hadn't tried to stop him from carrying out his world domination plan just proved how much she trusted him.
As the group owner, there was no way he could let his members down. So now, he decided it was time to show something real.
Up in the sky—
Gensei Kihara held the glowing white ball of energy high with both hands, laughing wildly. "Hahahaha! Do you see this, you fools?! This is power! The power of a god!"
Everyone froze, stunned.
The surrounding security guards were completely stunned by what they just witnessed. They stood frozen, eyes wide, unable to process what they were seeing.
Even Mugino Shizuri, Kitsu Kanko, and Therestina were shaking all over, their faces filled with fear. To them, right now, Gensei Kihara truly looked like a god.
"A god, huh?" Anran calmly spoke up, cutting through the moment like it was nothing. "I think you might've misunderstood what that really means."
"Heh, still trying to act tough?" Kihara turned his cold gaze toward him and sneered. "Fine, then just stand there and get wiped out with this world!" He raised both arms as a giant glowing sphere descended from above like a blazing sun.
Even before it hit, the air began to hum and shake. Space around them distorted, bent out of shape, and black cracks appeared in midair.
"Sigh, a frog stuck at the bottom of a well, lost in his own little world." Anran sighed, pulling his left hand out of his pocket. He raised a finger and gently tapped the air.
Pop.
A soft sound rang out.
Visible ripples spread through the air, layer upon layer, like waves moving across the entire plaza.
*Clack.*
Like a bubble popping, the blinding white energy sphere began to shrink before everyone's eyes. That huge mass of power, strong enough to wipe out all of Japan, broke apart into countless glowing particles, which scattered into the air and vanished.
Machete Girl: W-Wait… it's gone?
Curly-haired Guy: Boss is insane!
Doujin Artist: Seriously, that was insane. So strong!
Soul Society's Bad Guy: Was that... a real law-based power?
In the entire group, aside from Anran, the strongest was Unohana Retsu, the original Kenpachi. But even she had never gotten close to touching the laws themselves.
This is an Actor: Ah, that was just a basic use of space laws.
On-screen.
Kihara Gensei looked like someone who'd just had his throat grabbed by fate. His eyes bulged, shaking in disbelief. After a long silence, he finally screamed, "No—No way! That's impossible! This can't be real!"
"What you call 'impossible' just means you've never seen a real miracle," Anran said calmly, not even sparing him a glance. "Gods are symbols of miracles — they exist to make the impossible possible."
"W-What is that?" Kihara stared in horror as a strange figure appeared behind Anran — a being completely covered in black mist, sitting still on a golden throne.
Gulp.
Kihara's heart trembled. The being hadn't even moved, but the pressure it gave off crushed him straight to his soul.
Dark mist swirled, and whispers filled with holiness and madness echoed by his ears.
A moment later, as if he suddenly understood something, Kihara muttered to himself, "God… So this is what it really means…"
*Flutter.*
Before he could finish, the white light that had been covering his body crumbled into particles. Then his hands, legs, body — everything disintegrated and faded into the air.
Even in death, there was no pain or fear on Kihara's face. Instead, his eyes showed a kind of peace, a quiet calm like never before.
In that moment, he looked like a pilgrim… who had finally seen the light he had always believed in.
*Buzz.*
The black mist and the golden throne behind Anran vanished. The world returned to normal.
