Apocalyptic Rebirth: With a repairman system space, she rises again.

Chapter 245: A reality check.

They saw the billionaires in the entrance reception area, they were waiting for Sheldon who was in surgery. But as they did that, they scrutinized the medic bay which left them in awe. Somehow, fortress four had managed to set up an A-class hospital with modern machines, some which they were seeing for the first time. It had highly qualified doctors and specialists from around the world.

While it was not as massive as major hospitals in the country it was still impressive given the time limit, they had.

None of them realized or recalled that the land had not been empty. Even before the apocalypse, there were some finished and unfinished buildings around.

"Hades was too prepared for this." Cory stated as he cradled a small cup of coffee that he had bought from the hospital canteen. "Have you seen the vending machines? Oh, and everything inside them is free!"

It was not. People used cash or points to purchase them. If it was free, the machines would have been emptied out a long time ago.

Kris scratched his beard; his gaze stretched towards the hall that led to the recovery room. "Here he comes, we should talk to him about allowing us get treatment from here. This could be.....like our referral hospital."

Hades bypassed them like he had not seen them. He pretended not to notice them, and with good reason. After what Sheldon had done, he was furious.

Jon stepped in front of them. "Sunshine, I thought that you would want an update about Sheldon's condition. The doctor says the hand was well preserved and could be reattached, so we are hoping for the best."

"Of course it was, I did that even after he put our lives at risk by provoking the watcher." Sunshine answered and walked away.

"Wait." he tried to cut them off again, but he was blocked by Dwayne and Corporal Day.

The billionaires could only watch as she walked away from them. Her attitude made them feel uneasy. They could tell that the relationship which was just beginning to warm up was going to turn cold again.

Jon let out a long sigh; regret clouded his eyes. "Sheldon has always been reckless, we all know that. But this...."

"He should never have gone out there. " Jin stated.

Hades narrowed his gaze, and it got sharper by the second. "Are you saying that it is my fault because I told him to go? He was clearly told to put away his phone, and he still took it with him even though it had no use at all. If you are looking to where to place blame you are looking in the wrong place because I did not hold his hand while he took a selfie with the watcher....."

"Haha a selfie?" Karl threw in, laughing like he thought it was a joke.

The look on Hades's face told them it was not a joke. But from their recollection, he had been trying to take a picture of the watcher, not a selfie. Which was it?

Some of them raised their voices to defend Sheldon.

Jon hushed them immediately and said to Hades. "This is Sheldon's fault entirely."

"That's right." Hades said sharply. "And Jin, we will all be required to go out there and fight at one point or another. Do not think that your men will fight mutated creatures while you eat like a pig inside the walls of your base." He snarled.

Jin did not respond, but only because Jon cast him a look that shut him up. "Listen Hades, I know that the timing of this could be better, but I am worried that we might not have another opportunity to bring this up with all that us going on. I want to request that we bring our sick here....."

"No." Hades said in a dry voice and hurried out after his wife.

His exit made the billionaires uneasy. An argument broke out among the men, with Jon blaming some, especially Jin for annoying Hades yet they needed him more than he needed them.

"We better get ready to do some groveling on Sheldon's behalf." He hissed at his friends.

Hades found Sunshine outside, waiting for him near a pillar. Day and Dwayne were keeping people from bothering her.

"Sorry I made you wait." he said.

"It's no trouble, they needed to be given a reality check." Sunshine told him, squeezing his hand. "But for now let us focus our attention on Castiel and forget those annoying frenemies of yours."

Hades nodded. "I will stay here, you just got back, you need to sleep....."

"You cannot keep me away unless you teleport me to another world. I will be back after I take a shower." Sunshine told him.

A smile grew on Hades' face. He knew that he could not stop her, so he stopped trying to convince her and hugged her instead. "Eat something as well, the food here is too plain. Made for the sick mostly, not your sweet tooth."

Sunshine pushed him away gently and laughed as she walked towards the car where Nimo was waiting, hands tucked in her coat.

"I thought you left." Sunshine said to her, pulling a car door open.

Shaking her head, Nimo scoffed. "From the stench that you've got on, I knew you would not take long in there."

"It's that bad huh?" Sunshine asked.

The two exchanged knowing glances and burst into laughter.

When they reached home, Sunshine let the cold water wash away the stink of the beetles and chemicals. Then dressed in soft clothes and sat at the kitchen table where food had been warmed and served by Tank 1.

Nimo had found amusement in the machine meanwhile. She gave it impossible tasks and cheered in delight each time Tank 1 accomplished them.

"You are happier than Castiel right now." Sunshine laughed between bites of a cheeseburger and fries.

"How is he by the way?" Nimo asked.

"Recovering."

For a few heartbeats, Nimo grew quiet. She rested her chin on her palm; her smile had long faded. "Sunshine I am not certain, but I think Alfred still has feeling as for you."

Sunshine froze, a single fry fell before reaching her mouth.

Nimo leaned closer. "If you truly do not feel anything for him, you should.....brother-zone him. Make it clear. Otherwise, he will get hurt and I really hope that will not happen."

Sunshine picked up another fry. "Nimo, I am married and happen to like my husband, Hades. I think he is the one for me. It has not been long but when you know___you know. But even if that was not the case, I would not get back with Alfred because my feelings for him are platonic. I think that we grew fond of each other and decided to date but it was not that deep."

Relief softened on Nimo's eyes. A smile tugged her lips. "I will make sure that sinks into his head. Now tell me about Hades, have you confessed your feelings yet?"

"No. The apocalypse is not exactly romance season." Sunshine sighed. "What we have will bloom with time, I am in no rush."

She ate in silence for the next twenty seconds with the occasional disturbance from Tank and Nimo. After she finished everything, she stood up. "Let's go Neems. I have a baby in the hospital."

"The adult one or the small one?" Nimo asked.

They laughed and kept laughing and talking all the way to the animal clinic. Nimo left immediately after dropping her off.

She found White sulking on the bed just as Ariel had said. His furry back was turned to the door and only his ears were visible beneath the blanket.

"Hey baby White..." She used her coaxing voice which was meant for kids. "Are you mad at mommy too?"
