So Lu Xi'an and Yao Wei retraced their steps once again.

When Yao Wei drove to the edge of the jungle earlier, Lu Xi'an asked Yao Wei to stop the car.

The wolf pack was probably frightened by the Neo-Human's abilities earlier and didn't come back to scavenge the corpse.

Lu Xi'an went to pick up the Neo-Human's head and tossed it onto the car's roof, between the tires.

After finishing this, Lu Xi'an opened the driver's door and said to Yao Wei, "I'll drive."

Yao Wei promptly moved to the passenger seat and asked, "Why did you pick up his head?"

The head can't be eaten.

Lu Xi'an chuckled and replied, "To scare people. Didn't that woman say that this Neo-Human single-handedly intimidated the residents of Mengxin City?

"If we bring his head back and scare the residents of Mengxin City, it should save us a lot of trouble, right?"

Yao Wei agreed, nodding, "Yeah."

There were no roads to the west at the corner of the jungle, and the man and woman they encountered in Mengxin City earlier had come from the west, walking across the plain instead of following the road.

The city was eerily silent, as if all living creatures within had been dissolved by the beast's gastric juices. The wind blew, giving a deep sense of desolation.

This silence and strangeness felt like the calm before a storm, keeping Lu Xi'an and Yao Wei on high alert as they traversed the city's bumpy roads, their spirits remaining tense.

But until they drove up to the towering high tower, the strange silence remained unbroken by anyone.

The colossal tower was inside a courtyard surrounded by high walls, resembling a sophisticated company's premises or an important base.

The courtyard gate had disappeared, the guardhouse at the gate was rusty, and the window glass was long shattered.

Lu Xi'an ordered Gou to remotely control the drone to take off, doing a reconnaissance of the courtyard, and only after confirming no danger did they drive inside.

The courtyard was also empty, overgrown with weeds, desolate beyond measure, and devoid of figure.
