Apocalypse: Last Traveler

On the top of East Mountain, it's just an ordinary mountain top.

Previously, the seemingly broken road reappeared in the visual effect, took a turn ahead, and started descending.

There are still heights by the roadside, where there used to be a stone staircase, now nearly invisible.

Above the stone stairs, there's a collapsed abandoned temple.

"This is the place. The pit is behind the temple."

Master Shu on top of the car said, "It's also steep behind the temple. Back then, those who jumped off the cliff all jumped there."

Chai Xin asked somewhat puzzled, "Why come all the way here to jump? Isn't there a county town at the foot of the mountain with tall buildings?

Master Shu scratched the tree roots on his head and smiled, "You ask me, I have no idea. Anyway, people back then all came to the mountain to jump, it seemed like a trend."

The old and the young jumped down from the car roof, while Lu Xi'an and Yao Wei also got out of the car.

Yao Wei carried Gou with a gun. Lu Xi'an had Gou control a drone to take off, flying over the temple to take a look. After ensuring nothing was amiss, it flew back.

There seemed nothing peculiar about this place. If there were truly any issue, it probably lay in the pit Master Shu mentioned.

The group circled around the collapsed temple, heading to the back where the cliff appeared. At the cliff edge, the view suddenly dropped, plunging into a deep valley.

Lu Xi'an glanced down, wondering where one would end up if they jumped from here, as others probably couldn't even collect the body.

As he looked further into the cliff, rounding a huge stone, a pool of green water came into sight.

It wasn't ordinary green water, where the color comes from the reflection of the water's bottom.

What Lu Xi'an, Yao Wei, and Chai Xin saw was that the water itself was verdant, thick and shiny, just like the potion Gul'dan handed to Gromash.

"Ah! Finally here!"

Master Shu, seeing the pool of green water, got so excited that his voice trembled.

Not caring for anything else, he stripped off his ragged clothes and slid into the water along the pool edge, letting out a sigh of relief.

The skin on his face was peeling off too, likely causing him pain, so he sank below, submerging his head into the green water.

Lu Xi'an gave Gou an order, "Gou, scan the water, check if there's any problem."

Gou was held in Yao Wei's hand. Yao Wei intended to set the mechanical dog down, but was stopped by Lu Xi'an.

Lu Xi'an said, "Just hold it. No need to put it down. It can scan from here.

"If you put it down, it would have to approach the shore. If Master Shu suddenly pops out from the water, splashing on Gou, that wouldn't be good.

"We don't know yet what this liquid is for, if it could damage Gou's parts or properties, better be careful."

Upon hearing this, Yao Wei became vigilant, keeping a close eye on the green water.

And she held onto Gou more tightly, to prevent it from accidentally slipping out of her grip and touching the green water.

After Gou scanned the green water, it responded to Lu Xi'an with bright lights.

Lu Xi'an understood that there was indeed a problem with this green water, although he didn't know the source of this problem.

Or perhaps, it was related to the pressure from the celestial dome?

But such an association seemed a bit far-fetched.

Unfortunately, Gou couldn't answer more complex questions. If only they could find something in the future to let Gou speak, or create a screen for text response, it would be better.

Who knows if this magical Gou has the module for analyzing or editing voice or text.

The green water bubbled. Master Shu emerged from the water with a "puh ah," like a tree demon stepping out of a bath.

The skin on his face still sagged, a few pieces of tree root dropped from his head, floating and rolling on the bright green water surface.

Master Shu let out a comfortable moan and said to Lu Xi'an, Yao Wei, and Chai Xin, "Please wait for me, or you can leave directly. I think I'll soak for at least half a day."

Lu Xi'an said, "Go ahead, we'll take a look around."

He then turned, glanced at the collapsed temple behind, and casually asked, "What's this temple for?"

The mountain top isn't big, and the temple is small too. The front courtyard wall had completely collapsed, but the back was somewhat better, only half-collapsed, with the higher terrain and a half-ruined city wall blocking the view from the front.

Who knows if there's anything in this temple?

He notified Master Shu and turned to go around the front of the temple.

Master Shu replied with an "Alright," took a deep breath, and ducked back into the water.

Though he didn't hold his breath well and soon resurfaced with a "puh ah," wiped his face and hurriedly adjusted the face skin he swiped off.
