Chapter 3: Chapter 3: The Magical Space
"Hello, ma'am, the store specifically instructed that the boletus should be eaten hot. If it cools down, fry it again in a pot and don't reheat it in the microwave, okay? Otherwise, it might cause poisoning and hallucinations," the delivery guy handed over the food with a serious look and explained.
"Okay, thank you," Jiang Yan reached out to take it.
"Could you please leave me a five-star review when you're free?" The young man smiled naively and then turned to leave.
"Sure," Jiang Yan closed and double-locked the front door before carrying the food inside.
Ever since she had learned of her mother's accidental death, as a food blogger, she hadn't really enjoyed a proper meal.
Now, even back from the dead, she still felt no appetite.
But today was the seventh day after her mother's death, so she had ordered her mother's favorite spicy crab, boiled fish, stir-fried boletus with hot peppers, stir-fried king oyster mushrooms with green peppers, deep-fried stinky tofu, stir-fried vegetable hearts, and a small serving of fragrant rice.
For herself, she ordered a bowl of Mountain City noodles and a cup of passion fruit and lime tea.
After all, she needed to be full to have the strength to work, whether she felt like eating or not.
But for now, she first needed to wash off the bad luck and dirt from her body.
Jiang Yan placed the takeout on the dining table and went straight to the bathroom.
After taking a shower and quickly finishing her meal, it was already afternoon.
With three billion in her account, she didn't rush out to splurge but instead opened her computer to carefully plan the tasks ahead and sort out the inventory list of goods she needed.
After all, how to spend three billion, how to buy and store a lifetime's supplies, and whether some materials required connections that money couldn't solve... all these weren't decisions to be made on a whim.
Moreover, future natural disasters were unpredictable, and only by making the most comprehensive preparations could she face any disaster unflinchingly.
Fortunately, her mother, knowing her daughter's love for travel and good food and having attained wealth enough to liquidate her company, had already disposed of all surplus real estate, shops, warehouses, etc.
This spared Jiang Yan much effort in handling the assets.
Only the penthouse villa where Jiang Yan was currently living was left.
Regarding vehicles, she kept only a Class A motorhome for her daily outings and a Pagani Huayra for when Jiang Yan returned to the country.
Jiang Yan remembered from her previous life that during her confinement in the basement, she had overheard a conversation between Song Deming and his mistress detailing that the disaster started with high temperatures, followed by torrential rain, and then floods and mudslides.
All of this meant that she could no longer live in her villa after the heat wave passed.
The ground was simply too low.
To avoid moving back and forth, she decided to find a high-rise residence.
And to use that as a base to make thorough preparations to withstand high temperatures, extreme cold, and water leakage.
Renovations including odor and formaldehyde removal would take time, so the first thing to do was that, and she had to require the renovation company to use all environmentally friendly materials.
She planned to finalize the big plan immediately and then call the real estate agency, also asking them to help her rent a warehouse that was high, safe, and well-sealed.
So overall, she needed to dispose of the two villas and cars she currently had.
After all, that Class A motorhome and sports car would be of little use in the apocalypse; it was better to exchange them for an all-terrain motorhome.
She had seen on social media a foreign model called the Apocalypse Fortress, expensive but much more practical than the ordinary motorhome.
Objectively speaking, the two properties Jiang Yan had were not easy to sell.
Because wealthy people generally prefer to buy new homes and seldom opt for second-hand ones.
The best to sell would be those small apartments or Western-style houses that people buy out of necessity.
Thus, she decided to let the agency list them at a significantly discounted price.
After all, if they couldn't sell now, they would be worthless once the disaster struck.
As for the cars, as long as the price was right, they could easily be sold to the second-hand car market.
There were also several limited-edition Hermès handbags and a few collector-grade wristwatches at home.
These bags and watches were highly sought after in the second-hand luxury market and could be easily sold at high prices.
Additionally, her mother had also stored some valuable gold and jewels in her name at the Anming City Commercial Bank vault.
She would definitely keep these gold and jewelries.
Because as various natural disasters struck, cash had already become useless paper, but gold and jewelry still had some value for exchanging goods in the early and middle stages.
Money was available.
But what materials to buy and how to store them were another big issue.
Jiang Yan suddenly remembered the spatial 'golden finger' described in the novels she read in college and subconsciously touched her jade bracelet, sighing:
"Ah, if only I had a 'Space' of my own."
In her mind, those bracelets or pendants would automatically activate a space after contact with blood.
And in her previous life, Song Deming and Zhang Kai had cut off her hand that had touched the bracelet, but it didn't have such a miraculous effect.
Moreover, she seemed to have already acquired a 'Cannibal Flower' golden finger that could devour living things.
However, as Jiang Yan spoke, her jade bracelet on her wrist suddenly flashed.
Jiang Yan thought she was hallucinating.
But then she rubbed the jade bracelet with her finger and muttered again, "If only I had a 'Space' of my own!"
This time, the bracelet's light flashed even brighter!
Jiang Yan: "!!!!" It really wasn't a hallucination!
In a state of excitement mixed with apprehension, Jiang Yan began to frantically repeat the phrase, like the magical chant "Open Sesame."
After ten seconds, the bracelet emitted a brilliant golden light.
Jiang Yan instinctively closed her eyes.
When she opened her eyes again, the priceless jade bracelet on her wrist had disappeared.
And the 'her' who was sitting in front of the computer in the study praying a second ago was now in a magical Space!
So, she actually had a second rebirth golden finger!!
Thank you, Mom!
Thank you to the past self who had gone through hardship and didn't meet a good end!
As for the Space reward, though it was late, it came at last!
Jiang Yan burst into tears of joy.
She wiped her tears with her hand, took a few deep breaths to calm her emotions, and started to carefully observe her surroundings:
The entire Space was rectangular, surrounded by dense layers of white fog.
Inside, the whole area was about the size of a standard soccer field, divided into black, white, and gray areas.
The black area was covered with thick, slightly moist black soil.
It looked extremely fertile, probably very suitable for planting!
Jiang Yan also noticed, unlike the Spaces in those novels which could only store items, her Space had sunlight, wind, and air!
The sunlight was warm on her skin.
The breeze was gentle and comforting.
And the air was not only incredibly fresh but also seemed to have a healing effect.
In just a few seconds since she arrived, she felt all the tiredness, weakness, oppression, and negative emotions swept away instantaneously!
She could faintly hear the sound of flowing water.
So, there was likely water in the Space too!
