Another World Reincarnation Chronicle

Chapter 204

Inner World Manifestation.

A spell that allows a wizard who has reached a certain level to materialize the world they have built within.

Inescapable, therefore, a guaranteed hit.

Omnipotent, able to manifest everything imagined.

Versatile, capable of adapting to all situations.

All wizards affiliated with the Mage Tower often say that the most important spell to be cautious of when facing another wizard is “Inner World Manifestation.”

As it is a magic everyone is cautious about, there are indeed sure methods to counter it. The problem is that once it has already been activated, those methods are no longer available.

I had been negligent. Although using contaminated mana, Skasha, being a mage herself, should have been prepared.

Surrounded by the massive mana pouring out, the environment began to melt away. The great Bone Mountain vanished, and in its place, a taller mountain rose.

As the mountains, which had soared endlessly to cover the sky, pierced through the clouds, a massive mountain split in two. With the formation of a canyon, white bones began to rise, taking the shape of dozens of dragons.

A canyon made of the bones of dead dragons.

That was the manifestation of Skasha’s inner world.

As soon as Skasha’s inner world was perfectly realized, I too began to prepare my magic. It was uncertain whether this magic could be safely cast, but to escape this space safely, I needed to summon the world within me to this place.

Kiiing-!

The violent rotation of the mana circle. As the mana within me surged forth, igniting Starlight Mana, the mana of Skasha surrounding me began to be pushed back.

It took not even a second for the situation to progress to this point. A mere instant. The flow of mana quickly vanished as if light were being shot.

This magic reveals one’s inner world. The minimum preparation required to use this magic remains the same. Firm belief, a clear image. Infusing all those with mana creates a small mystery.

Then, one declares to this world. To summon a fictional world that doesn’t originally exist, one must vocalize that fact to amplify its presence.

That is the minimum condition to manifest the inner world. However, at this moment, it was impossible for me. I lacked the minimum time necessary to open my mouth and create a sound.

Thus, I boldly omitted that part.

Spell Break.

The scale of the magic naturally shrinks, and the brilliant starlight is suppressed.

Skasha’s preparations to attack me were steadily progressing. As the magic I had prepared was cast and the repressed starlight exploded out, the giant dragons that had appeared between the canyons began to gather flames in their mouths.

The magic I was about to use was not normal magic. It was unstable as something that should not exist was absent. The only thing filling in the omitted gaps was my own skill and talent. When the heat began to engulf my head, the repressed starlight born from the spell break created fractures in space.

At that very moment.

Kwaaaah-!

A massive explosion shook the very fabric of space. The condensed mana burst forth, causing the atmosphere to tremble. Time began to flow again from that point.

Dozens of lesser dragons unleashed their breaths simultaneously. Purely desiring destruction. The firm belief contained within amplified the power of their breaths.

As a breath that seemed to tear apart space flew towards me, just before it could touch my body, a small crack appeared directly in front of me, rapidly expanding and engulfing the massive mana.

Kwaaaah-!

As time flowed, the stream of the breath began to diminish. As the breath became smaller, the power of the magic weakened, and the great dragons began to fall one by one.

A large-scale magic that materializes a fictional world that originally did not exist. The longer the world is maintained, the more mana is consumed, thus Skasha must also be feeling considerable strain.

Just as I predicted, Skasha appeared among the fallen dragon bones. Her entire body was ablaze, and though her expression couldn’t be clearly seen, the flickering flames and erratic movements indicated she was not pleased with the situation.

Saaah-

As the stream of breath cut off, the remnants of mana scattered, undulating like the ominous flames clinging to Skasha’s body.

[What have you done?]

Skasha’s question. However, there was no reason to answer her query. I gazed at the starlight scattering through the torn cracks and gently smiled.

I felt as though I had overeaten, my insides feeling bloated. Although I hadn’t actually eaten anything, the mana from Skasha absorbed into my inner world was rampaging within my body.

[Hoh…]

As though realizing my condition too late, she looked at me through the flaming heat. Skasha’s gaze directed behind me, at the plump tail sticking out.

The scales on the elongated tail began to change color. From smooth red to ominous black. The absorbed mana from Skasha was affecting her body.

[Have you finally accepted the mana?]

It seemed I was reaching the tipping point. I furrowed my brow and began to concentrate mana into my right hand.

It was not the Starlight Mana I usually used. It wasn’t the blazing flames either, nor was it the chilling cold that could freeze time.

It was blackened mana, corrupted by being close to death. The sensation wrapping around my fingertips was even unpleasant. As I began to push the absorbed mana from Skasha to its limits, the changes in my body accelerated further.

My once golden hair, which flowed like honey, turned jet black, and the scales creeping over my hands changed to black scales like my tail.

Do you know of a knight who held the world beneath a single spear?

Do you know of one reborn as a Death Knight through dark magic, unlike the knight who absorbed the power of hell to be reborn?

The questions swirling in my mouth scattered helplessly. Even if I posed this question to Skasha, I wouldn’t receive an answer.

This is a story only I know in this world. The story that began with a small line was already forming a colossal world within me.

Fworrr-!

As if igniting flames, the mana that had been gathering beneath my right hand began to shape into a massive spear. A spear once wielded by a knight who ruled the skies while riding a wyvern, a target for terror.

As the magic was completed, all preparations were finalized. Now, all that remained was to hurl this spear at Skasha.

I calmly watched the crumbling world and raised the spear. The spear, forged from black mana, spun endlessly, creating a small storm.

[That…]

Skasha frowned as though sensing danger. Was it because I had poured a large amount of mana to manifest my inner world? Skasha’s spell-casting speed had become incomparably slower than before.

The long, black tail shimmered, reflecting faint light as it spun rapidly. The power that began from her tail twisted her waist, catapulting the muscles of her legs and thighs.

Boom-!

As the giant leg stomped down with a tremendous force, the rotational energy filled with mighty power surged through her waist towards the spear-tip clutched in my right hand.

Kwaaaah-!

Vortex-

The spear flying at the speed of light struck Skasha’s body, and a massive whirlpool erupted, beginning to grind her bones away. The whirlwind, spinning in the opposite direction of the normal flow of mana, forced Skasha’s body out of space.

“Kuhak!”

At that moment, as Skasha’s body was pushed out, the pain I had been holding in surged forth, and warm blood splattered out past my throat.

Having absorbed a mana with entirely different properties, I had used it to cast spells. Even though I had quickly poured out Skasha’s mana, the damage caused by the rebound phenomenon took its toll.

The starlight mana, which had been flowing calmly, began to rampage, making the veins bulge through my skin. The two circles positioned within my heart were shaking precariously.

In front of me, white chill and hot flames erupted. The harmony formed by three types of mana was shattered. The rampaging mana exceeded my control and began to burst forth from my body.

[Is this all?]

I lifted my head at the familiar voice that came from afar. Blood trickled down under my nose due to the burst veins.

The figure that appeared was Skasha. Her bony armor, which had covered her body, seemed to have been shattered entirely, but she still showcased her vitality, flames burning brightly all over her.

As I vomited the blood that surged up past my throat, I gripped the short bow that lay across my shoulder.

My condition was the worst. There was no way to continue fighting in a state where I couldn’t even cast small magic. Therefore, hesitation was unnecessary.

I put all my strength into it, plunging the short bow into the ground.

Thud-!

In the brief moment akin to a blink, the short bow buried deep began to take root, and a massive trunk started to grow. As the trunk began to slowly open up, I dove into it without a moment’s hesitation.

The bizarre sensation I often felt each time I cast teleportation magic enveloped my body the moment I entered.

The refreshing fragrance of the forest tickled my nose. The place I arrived at was the heart of an elf forest, filled with warm warmth.

“Ueek!”

I vomited blood once again.
