An Extra's Survival In Super Gene

Chapter 2: A woman, A bed, A white room

"So, I'm alive?" I said in surprise, forcing my eyes open.

The first thing I saw was a wall, pure white and empty.

"This feels oddly familiar," I muttered, staring at the plain ceiling above me.

I turned my head to look around and saw more of the same whiteness. It was everywhere, and it was starting to make me uneasy.

"Is this a hospital?" I wondered. "I think I hit my head before passing out."

Determined to move, I pushed my body upright. I thought it would be difficult, but my body felt surprisingly light, like I had lost half my weight.

Then I saw it—a completely white room, lifeless except for me and someone sitting in the corner, reading a book. The figure seemed feminine, though I couldn't see their face. Something told me it was a girl.

"Excuse me, miss? Are you the doctor here?" I asked, trying to get her attention. She looked up at me but didn't say a word. Instead, she stood and began walking toward me.

"Uh... are you the doctor?" I repeated, though I was pretty sure this wasn't a hospital. The unsettling whiteness of the room could easily drive someone mad, and I was already starting to feel it.

"What is this place? A white room like this? Do they want to mess with my mind?" I thought, staring at the girl as she stopped by my bedside.

"Do you want to live?" she asked in a voice that didn't sound quite human.

"What kind of question is that?" I thought, confused. Her words didn't make any sense.

"If possible, I'd just like to leave," I replied quickly, looking down for a moment. That's when I noticed something else.

"Whoa… they're huge," I thought, my eyes locking on her chest. She was wearing a tight white nurse uniform, and her curves were impossible to miss.

"Amazing. A true masterpiece," I thought, scanning her from head to toe. This was probably why I was still single, but I couldn't help myself.

While I was lost in my own thoughts, she spoke again.

"Do you want to live?" she asked for the second time.

"Yes," I answered this time, figuring it was easier to play along.

"Status: dead, confirmed. Yearning to live again, confirmed. You may make one wish before your departure," she said, her voice oddly childish.

I decided to go with the flow. As someone who loved reading, my wish ended up being something inspired by novels and animes.

My wish was a strange mix of items and abilities I had seen in different anime, novels, and manhwas. After a long minute of listing everything, I finally finished my ridiculously long wish.

"Wish received. Processing wish stats... Access denied. Threat level is high. You'll get what you asked for, but their efficiency and effectiveness will be reduced based on their threat level," the nurse explained in a calm tone. Somehow, I managed to follow what she was saying.

Her words reminded me of something I'd seen in an anime or novel, but since I couldn't remember it clearly, I decided not to dwell on it.

Without another word, the nurse walked back to her corner and picked up her book again. She didn't seem interested in me anymore.

"Miss? What about me leaving this place? I really want to go home! Miss?" I shouted, hoping to get her attention, but she acted like I didn't exist.

Frustration bubbled up inside me, and I decided to take matters into my own hands. If she wasn't going to help, I'd get out of here myself.

I hadn't tried moving much before because I assumed it would be difficult. But now, fueled by anger, I threw off the blanket and swung my legs over the side of the bed. My toes touched the cold floor, but as soon as I tried to stand, a wave of dizziness hit me. I lost my balance and fell, landing hard on my backside.

"For fucks sake!" I groaned, rubbing my sore butt.

I was about to vent my frustration to whoever was in charge, but when I opened my eyes again—I froze. The white walls were gone and instead, I found myself in the middle of a bustling city.

Cars I had never seen before zipped past me. Huge restaurants lined the streets, their neon signs flashing brightly. The whole scene looked like something out of a futuristic movie.

"Are you kidding me?" I muttered, irritation rising as I looked around at my surroundings. While I was still trying to process everything, a man walked past me, tossed a few coins my way, and disappeared.

"What the hell? Do I look like a beggar to you?!" I yelled after him, though he was already gone.

Frustrated, I turned around and noticed a group of people sitting nearby. They looked like they were living in extreme poverty. That's when it hit me—I was one of them now.

"I see..." I whispered, my face turning pale as I finally grasped the situation.

"No way... does this mean I've transmigrated into a novel?" I muttered, trying to piece together what was happening. My thoughts flashed back to what that woman had said earlier.

"It has to be that. She asked me to make a wish, and this kind of thing always happens in novels and anime," I said, my voice shaky.

"But why on earth would someone transmigrate me as a beggar?" My face grew even paler, as if I'd just seen a ghost.

I sat there for a minute, trying to recall all the novels I'd read where characters ended up in similar situations.

"System," I said, hoping to summon some kind of cheat ability, but nothing happened.

"Screen! Change log! System screen! Panel! Damn it!" I kept shouting random terms, growing more desperate each time. Nothing appeared, and my frustration turned into disappointment.

Still, I decided to give it a few more tries, wracking my brain for other terms I'd seen in those stories.

"What was it again? Oh... Info!" I finally remembered, and to my surprise, something happened.

A faint, translucent screen appeared in front of me, glowing softly with a blue hue. It was filled with text written in English, just like I'd imagined.
