American Comics: Multiverse of Madness

Chapter 528: 528. The Truth of History.

As is well known, many legends or myths passed down from ancient times often carry embellishments and modifications by later generations. The true situation often differs greatly from what is popularly spread.

In the legends that have been passed down in Kahndaq for millennia, Teth-Adam is the hero who overthrew the tyrant. His giant half-human statue has stood in Kahndaq for centuries, admired by all.

However, the records in the Justice Society's database show that the true history is completely different.

Teth-Adam was not the hero who overthrew the tyrant. Instead, he 'stole' the powers of a hero and destroyed ancient Kahndaq.

Because of this, the ancient wizard council had to intervene and battle him. That battle shook the heavens and nearly destroyed one-fifth of Kahndaq's territory.

In the end, Teth-Adam was defeated, and along with the demon's crown, he was sealed away in the ruins, the very ruins that Adrianna and the others had visited.

Looking at the lines of text and the corresponding images in the Justice Society's database, Adrianna felt a chill run down her spine.

"This can't be true!" Amon couldn't help but shout loudly. "How could Adam be the one who destroyed Kahndaq? He's not that kind of person!"

Alex quietly observed Amon but didn't speak. He knew Amon had only glanced at the records and hadn't seen everything. Being a child, it was natural for him to lose control of his emotions.

It was Adrianna who spoke up. "These documents are authentic, and some of the records are even more comprehensive than what I knew."

"How could this be? This is fake, right? Mom, this must be fake, right?" Amon grabbed Adrianna's arm, unwilling to believe that the Teth-Adam, whom he had revered as the hero of Kahndaq, could actually have such a dark past.

But after experiencing Ishmael's betrayal, Adrianna had gained a new perspective on the world and human nature. She slowly lifted her head, ignoring her son, and instead looked at Alex.

"How did the Justice Society acquire these records?"

"Remember those two Justice Society members from earlier? One of them is an archaeologist who obtained the power of the god of order, Nabu. The other is the reincarnation of Prince Khufu, who has lived for thousands of years."

After a pause, Alex continued, "Both of them have been active in Egypt for a long time, and they carry memories from this land's history spanning thousands of years. So finding the long-sealed history of Kahndaq wasn't a difficult task."

Listening to Alex's explanation, Adrianna felt a cold shiver run down her back. She didn't consider the possibility that Alex might be deceiving her because it seemed unnecessary.

"So, does this mean everything written here is true?" she asked.

"Absolutely," Alex nodded slightly.

"I... I released the killer who destroyed Kahndaq a thousand years ago?" Adrianna covered her face, her head lowered as she struggled with mixed emotions.

In that moment, she finally understood why the Justice Society had arrived in Kahndaq at this time. She also realized why the two superheroes had spoken harshly to Adam and acted aggressively toward him.

According to the Justice Society's records, Teth-Adam was a supervillain capable of destroying the world, and he had already committed this sin a thousand years ago.

If it weren't for the wizard council defeating and sealing Adam, Kahndaq might have been slaughtered and destroyed by him.

"We even regarded him as a symbol of faith and preserved his statue. It turns out we've been living in deception all along," Adrianna thought in disbelief.

Watching Adrianna in pain, comforted by Amon, and Karim standing helplessly nearby, Alex sighed softly.

In fact, the whole situation was a 'wonderful' misunderstanding.

Kahndaq's faith wasn't the issue. However, it seemed that over the millennia, many truths had been buried, and the people of Kahndaq were not well aware of the true history.

There was nothing wrong with the information in the Justice Society's database either. Adam had indeed 'stolen' Shazam's power and destroyed ancient Kahndaq's capital city.

But the key to history lies in the fact that the truth of events often depends on the perspective of the person writing the history.

The majority of the documents and records in the Justice Society's database came from the wizard Shazam's writings. But the problem was, it was Shazam himself who sealed away Adam. Do you think Shazam would write anything positive about Adam?

For someone who did not inherit Shazam's power but still possessed Shazam's divine power, the wizards certainly wouldn't view him in a favorable light.

So, after seeing these embellished records written by the wizards, it was no surprise that the superheroes of the Justice Society weren't inclined to show any respect to the freed Teth-Adam.

Their purpose in coming was to re-seal Adam.

Perhaps Hawkman and Doctor Fate had a slight inclination to speak with Adam, but as soon as they arrived, they saw Adam causing a massacre.

Even though he was killing criminals from Intergang, the brutality and indifference to life left a lasting impression on the two heroes. This first impression was deeply etched into their minds, which led to the events that followed.

Of course, while the misunderstanding was unfortunate, Alex did not plan to let these two heroes off easily.

Just because you're from the Justice Society, does that mean you can use force in other countries based on a misunderstanding? This universe had finally gotten back on track, and Alex didn't want any chaos to emerge at this time.

As a superhero, if you can't even handle basic intelligence and reasoning, what will you do when a greater disaster strikes? Are we supposed to have another superhero civil war?

With these thoughts, Alex shook his head, then looked at Adrianna and said, "Don't be too upset. Actually, I have another piece of information about Teth-Adam here, which might help complete the historical puzzle."

Upon hearing this, everyone's attention turned to Alex, who didn't keep them in suspense. He immediately spoke.

"The Justice Society's records are indeed correct, but there are some details that seem off. From what I understand, the Wizard Council usually chose children to inherit Shazam's power. However, Teth-Adam was clearly outside their selection range.

This means that Teth-Adam wasn't the first Shazam. The person who received Shazam's power at the time was his son, not Adam himself. So, this 'stealing' of Shazam's power becomes a bit more complicated."

"Right, as a father, how could Adam steal his own son's power? They are flesh and blood," Adrianna said, understanding the point as a mother.

"You mentioned that Kahndaq has kept the half-statue of Teth-Adam for thousands of years, but you've seen Adam yourself. Honestly, do you think he resembles the statue?" Alex added, prompting further thought.

Adrianna reacted quickly and immediately understood Alex's point.

"You're saying that the legend we've passed down for a thousand years is wrong? The hero who overthrew the tyrant wasn't Teth-Adam, but his son? And the statue was based on his son?"

Adrianna frowned and looked at Alex, curiosity in her eyes as she asked, "But how do we explain that Adam destroyed Kahndaq? And why did the wizards seal him away?"

"Regarding that, I think it's best if Teth-Adam himself explains it," Alex smiled slightly, then stood up from the sofa.

"Wait here for a moment. I'll go bring those three back."

Without giving anyone a chance to respond, Alex turned, and in an instant, he seemed to be erased from existence, vanishing right before Adrianna and her family's eyes.

Meanwhile, in the Mirror Space.

With a loud metallic crash, a golden figure plummeted from the sky like a meteor, smashing into a building and crushing it completely.

In the sky above, a figure was floating, maintaining a punching pose. It was none other than Black Adam.

Before he could move in for the kill, a golden energy symbol formed behind him and shot toward him with immense speed.

Raising his hand to block, the magical symbol composed of pure magical energy shattered instantly, but Black Adam didn't have a scratch on him. In fact, his body remained motionless in midair.

Looking at Doctor Fate in the distance, who was wearing a golden helmet, Black Adam suddenly stretched out his arms, unleashing a devastating burst of thunderous energy.

Doctor Fate only managed to create a translucent golden barrier in time. The next moment, the massive bolt of lightning slammed into the barrier with force.

Feeling the magical energy breaking and peeling away from the barrier, even Doctor Fate couldn't help but feel a chill.

"Your magic is too fierce; it's even stronger than my power. I won't let this energy destroy the world."

As soon as his words fell, Doctor Fate released the barrier, and in an instant, the thunderpower pierced through him, causing an incredible explosion.

But Doctor Fate wasn't killed by the lightning. Instead, in the explosion, he transformed into countless clones, scattering in all directions, surrounding Black Adam.

Despite this, Black Adam remained expressionless, coldly watching the approaching figures. He threw a punch forward, smashing through one of the Doctor Fate clones.

The powerful force and speed instantly tore the clone apart, and the illusion shattered like broken glass, quickly dissipating into magical energy in the air.

However, this strike didn't affect the other clones. They surged forward, attacking Black Adam in waves, relentlessly charging toward him.
