Chapter 448: Suicide Out of Guilt
Florida, Miami, Coast Guard Seventh District Headquarters!
At this moment in Jermaine Sara's office, a fierce argument is erupting.
"Mr. Sara, have you been leaving your brain at home every time you go out these past few days?"
Seventh District Deputy Commander Brek Joyce, with both hands pressed on Jermaine Sara's desk, veins bulging, couldn't understand what Jermaine was thinking, daring to intercept Donnie Block's bootleg liquor.
This isn't something anyone with any sense would dare attempt.
Jermaine Sara, appearing around thirty, with a neat short haircut and somewhat rugged features, sitting in a Coast Guard major's uniform.
Facing Brek Joyce's questioning, Jermaine Sara wore a smile, though his eyes harbored a cold chill.
"Joyce, are you doubting your superior?"
Brek Joyce shouted: "Spare me the talk; the Bootlegging Empire has been running like clockwork for years, but if you truly see it as an immovable clock, then you're dead wrong. Let me tell you, the Bootlegging Empire is like a sleeping lion, and now you've awakened it!"
Jermaine Sara was indifferent, pointing at his wall ornament and smiling as he asked, "Joyce, do you see it? I have a shotgun in my hands, no matter what kind of lion it is, it's just a beast. Thousands of years ago, people drove these beasts into the deep mountains, into the forests. Do you think I'm afraid of a lion now?"
Brek Joyce said coldly, "But this lion has already driven you back to headquarters!"
Jermaine Sara laughed easily, "Joyce, have you forgotten? The headquarters order was merely for me to report after handling the Seventh District's affairs, and obviously, the matters of the district are still undone. Naturally, I don't need to go to headquarters now!"
Due to some maneuvering by people at the Coast Guard Atlantic Regional Headquarters, Jermaine Sara's transfer orders had some discrepancies.
Brek Joyce shook his head, deciding he would no longer speak to this madman; some people just live in a world of their own.
Finally, Brek Joyce threw out a line: "Don't forget, this is Florida, this is Miami!"
"But I am the commander of the Seventh District of the Coast Guard of the United States!"
Brek Joyce had already walked out of Jermaine Sara's office, and Jermaine Sara's smile had completely disappeared.
After this incident, everyone called him crazy, but Jermaine Sara refused to accept this view.
He believed he had devised the most thorough strategy.
Firstly, he was a major from the Florida-class battleship, with the formidable force of the battleship behind him, the most powerful in these waters.
In some ways, he could represent the entire Navy.
Having come from the Navy, he was acutely aware of how cash-strapped the Navy was during these times, especially ever since Harding signed the disarmament treaty, there had been voices in Congress to retire the Florida-class battleship. It's not his solo decision to do bootlegging; it was agreed upon by naval bigshots.
If Donnie Block dares to retaliate against him, it would mean declaring war on the entire Navy.
Even if Donnie Block is a federal big shot, would you dare challenge the Navy? At that point, all your sea lanes will become targets for Navy strikes!
Secondly, he not only has reliance but preparation. Of course he knows this is Miami. To be blunt, aside from New Jersey, Florida is the most tightly controlled area by Donnie Block.
He's already shipped those bootlegging goods to New Orleans, could Donnie possibly extend his reach there?
Regarding this matter, Jermaine Sara did not believe it for a second.
Since he has reliance and plans, Jermaine Sara doesn't understand why he must worry about Donnie Block.
"Donnie Block can become one of the most powerful families in America through the Bootlegging Empire, why can't the Sara Family do the same?"
Jermaine Sara leaned back in his chair, lighting a ten-dollar cigar; once he wouldn't indulge, but now...
He's about to become a billionaire, why should he care about these trivialities anymore?
.
New Orleans is located in the southernmost part of Louisiana, southwest of Miami.
In the outskirts of New Orleans, a once-abandoned factory has become bustling.
A month ago, it was mysteriously bought by a wealthy person, and no one knew what they planned to do.
But now, with truckloads of bootleg alcohol arriving here, what it's being used for is no longer something to speculate about.
Jacob Sala is Jermaine Sara's father, previously a real estate businessman in Miami. But after the big hurricane in Miami two years ago, he lost everything.
Originally, he planned to rely on his Miami connections to bounce back after the hurricane, but then Deep Sea Bank entered Florida, starting to massively acquire all businesses in the state while also demanding repayment from companies under the guise of loans.
