Alpha’s Obsession, Luna’s Revenge:

Chapter 14: The Oath of Allegiance

Selene's POV

Inspector Jackson had recovered by now. I had instructed Inspector Jackson to arrest him but treat him with respect. We needed to buy time.

I further instructed Inspector Jackson to tell him that Queen Selene had been eliminated in cold blood. If he enquired about Inspector Allison, he was to tell him that Inspector Allison had gone out looking for a lone wolf that had attacked him, 34 hours earlier. Jackson was instructed to show his injuries as proof of the lone wolf attack.

I had to remain quiet and hidden from this messenger. Alpha William Wolf had to believe that I was eliminated. This knowledge could offer him his peace of mind and make him less secure and alert.

I expected him to restore order in the state. It also meant that the electricity would be restored.

It would have been difficult for me to operate with a high level of connectivity and snooping devices.

I needed to strengthen my plan with a hideout as soon as possible.

If the messenger did not go back, it was likely that William Wolf stormed this police station. This was a huge risk I was not yet ready for. I wanted the messenger to go back safely.

Meanwhile, the blueprint of my plan was ready. I had selected my hideout along with an army of trusted assistants.

The police officers were to remain in the employment of the state while they would be loyal to me and ready to break off their allegiance to the state when needed.

I needed the loyalty of as many officers as possible, who would sympathize with me. I needed someone to handle my propaganda department, which was not yet created.

The messenger had already left and I had to squeeze the last drop of available time to strengthen my resistance.

I began my conversation with Allison

"Allison, as I said, we are quite impressed with your loyalty and dedication to the state," I remarked.

I could smell his odor. The subtle fragrance was much different from the foul smell it exuded earlier. I guessed his mood was shifting. He was gaining increasingly more virtuous human qualities like hope, happiness, and a positive outlook. The same person reeked earlier of more wolf-like odor of violence and revenge.

I remembered the words of my dad. He once told me that we all are inherently wolves. We are barbarians. If we could imbibe divine virtues of love and kindness, we could win out adversaries.

I knew the words of my dad were true but difficult to practice overnight. It would take a long time for the wolfish nature to transform into divine virtues. As shapeshifters, we looked like humans but deeper down our original nature persisted. Our baser emotions could make us closer in appearance to wolves.

The positive smell of Allison indicated to me that he was beginning to imbibe positive traits and qualities.

"Allison, my dear, I have noted that you did not get what you deserved under William Wolf.." As I said these words, I immediately understood I had instantly connected with Allison, deeper down. I had touched the core of his heart.

I noticed tear drops falling from his eyes. I took out my handkerchief and softly wiped his tears, saying, "Cheer up, boy! Your days of fear and ignominy are over."

I knew, how officers were treated under Alpha William Wolf. They lived under constant fear. Their good deeds went unrewarded and they could be instantly slaughtered for their misdeeds.

"How long have you been in the service of the state?" I asked.

"15 years, Your Highness," Allison reported.

"15 years!" I repeated in surprise popping my eyes out, "And yet you are an ordinary omega. How shameful! For all your loyalty, dedication, and service."

"I Queen Luna Selene, confer upon you the title of Beta to serve directly under Alpha King Mark Donnell. From now on you are under his service," I said and watched his body language that had humbled down in submission and gratefulness.

I immediately understood I was moving in the right direction.

I further added, "My words have the authority of the state insignia but in the absence of insignia, I offer you my handkerchief with the state seal and my name appended on it. This handkerchief is the official conferment of the title upon you.".

I bowed down slightly while giving him my handkerchief and he gratefully accepted with both his hands while bowing down in reverence.

I called Inspector Jackson and ordered him to unshackle Allison. "You are now a free Beta of our Northern Territory," I said as his handcuffs and chains were unlocked.

I continued my conversation with Allison.

"You are now free to go anywhere, but unfortunately Alpha Mark Donnell is untraceable. Do you know where he could be?" I asked.

"In a dark cell of the prison behind the palace, your Highness!" He reported instantly.

"No, he is not there. He was arrested and dumped in a dark cell, but according to my latest information, he was kidnapped from there. Please find out who is behind it. Could you find out who is behind it?

"Yes, Your Highness," Allison spoke in a confident voice.

"Before you go out of here, there is a minor state tradition that you have to take an oath of allegiance to the King and the Queen to keep your position," I said.

Allison beamed positively. His smile indicated his happiness and satisfaction with the honor just conferred. The oath of allegiance was a kind of assurance that he had officially committed his willingness to serve the state.

Beta Allison read out the official oath from the official diary maintained in each state office including the police stations.

Everyone cheered and applauded. Myrah's eyes were wet. Tears of happiness fell down her eyes. I noted her loyalty and thankfulness were way more than Allison's

I asked Allison, how would he find the whereabouts of Alpha Mark Donnell.

I would go to the royal palace to inform Alpha King William Wolf that we have eliminated you. The king finding me trustworthy might reveal the whereabouts of Alpha Mark Donell.

"That sounds good," I said but I would suggest caution. A messenger of the King was here. We have used him to inform the King that you have successfully carried out the state order. Now I am waiting for the response of the king. If the cut-off electricity is restored, I would have reasons to believe that I have successfully planted the information I want to, but in case the electricity is not restored after a few hours, I will have reasons to think otherwise.

"Let us wait….." I said.

We waited. In the course of our conversation, Beta Allison revealed something so amazing that it was going to be a complete game changer.
