chapter 50 - Gulp Down The Heavens! (2/4)
The skill book dissolved into motes of light, flowing seamlessly into Lin Daiyu's body. She closed her eyes, entering that deep, meditative "learning state." Wu Chi just leaned back in his chair, propped his arm on the table, and watched her, completely chill.
Man, this girl. Usually she's all gentle and serene, like a calm lake.
But damn, she can throw some shade when she wants to. And her skills are top-notch. She doesn't cuss you out, just wraps her insults in this clever, witty package that makes you want to both strangle her and hug her at the same time.
Right now, though, she just looked… peaceful.
"Haaa—!"
Who knows how much time passed.
Lin Daiyu's eyes snapped open, a sharp glint flashing within them. She looked pensive for a moment, then she noticed Wu Chi's gaze locked on her.
"…Young Master?" she asked, a little puzzled.
"Huh?" Wu Chi jolted, clearing his throat.
"Ah, just spaced out for a sec. How's it feel?"
"It feels… good. This skill is a massive power-up for me."
Sister Lin flashed a smile. Then her pretty eyes shifted, a spark of realization hitting her. Oh. He wasn't just spacing out, he was spacing out at her. Her lips curved into a playful smirk as she shot him a look that was part scolding, part flirtation.
Wu Chi, oblivious as ever, was already pulling up her stat sheet.

…
Holy shit, this isn't just a skill. It's a whole-ass cultivation technique!
Wu Chi was so stunned, he almost… nope. He wasn't gonna do the whole "sucking in a cold breath" trope. He had a gorgeous woman right next to him; if he was gonna be inhaling anything, it'd be her sweet scent!
Point is, this technique was absolutely terrifying.
Two passives and two actives? Could you spell "broken" for me?
"This is insane!" Wu Chi muttered. And then—BAM. A thought struck him like lightning.
The stats from a technique… those counted as part of the hero's base stats, right? Not like bonus stats from gear or bonds!
His heart skipped a beat. He scrambled to check Lin Daiyu's attributes again.
…
[Lin Daiyu]
(Stats omitted)
Constitution: 460+21 (Base: 35, Skill: 10, Multiplier: 1000%) (Gear: 21, Bond: 10)
Spirit: 150+7 (Base: 4, Skill: 10, Multiplier: 1000%) (Gear: 7, Bond: 10)
…
"I knew it!" Wu Chi's eyes lit up.
When Sister Lin had said she felt a massive boost, it hadn't clicked for him. Who the hell was she? A drama queen? Absolutely not. She never exaggerated her own strength. A piddly 10 points in stats wouldn't mean much to her normally; that was basically the power of ten Wu Chis, aka, negligible.
But with his territory's insane multiplier… that 10 points became a staggering 100 points to both Constitution and Spirit!
No wonder she felt her power skyrocketing!
"Right now," Sister Lin said softly, seeming to read his thoughts, "I could probably kill last night's monster with ease."
They both knew exactly how horrifying that thing had been. If they were at the same strength as yesterday, today's monster wave—and any potential new boss—would've been a nightmare. But now… now they were ready.
"This is how you get strong! Use war to fuel war!"
"One step ahead means you're always ahead!" Wu Chi declared, brimming with confidence. "Just wait. You're going to get stronger and stronger!"
"Mm. I will listen to you, Young Master," Lin Daiyu replied, her voice soft, her eyes full ⊛ Nоvеlιght ⊛ (Read the full story) of tenderness.
…
Time flies when you're min-maxing. Before they knew it, it was time for lunch. A certain "chef" tried to prove his culinary skills weren't total garbage, but Qin Keqing insisted on taking over the kitchen, so he had to back down. Honestly, his cooking wasn't that bad. How hard is it to screw up simple, home-style dishes? The thing is, his past-life self wasn't a picky eater, so he never put much effort into it. Now, in this data-driven world, his half-assed meals just rated as extremely low quality.
At the "Cloud-Top Cherry Inn," Wu Chi and his two heroes sat at one table, while the ten Great Qin Vanguards filled several others. The atmosphere was lively. And, most importantly… every single person there was a fucking top-tier bombshell!
