Chapter 7: Budget 6 Million
"Boss, I have something to say. If you don't approve my request, I can only resign."
Seeing the seriousness on her face, the supervisor realized that Yun Zijin wasn't joking—she was genuinely prepared to leave.
"Are you serious?" he asked, surprised.
"I'm completely serious."
"Alright. I'll approve your leave this time. But think carefully about resigning. Our company's salary and benefits are considered good in the industry. If you quit, you may not find a better job in the future."
The supervisor signed off on her leave application while also trying to persuade her to stay. After all, it was rare to find such a talented intern like her. If nothing unexpected happened, she would likely be the first intern among her cohort to be offered a permanent position.
"Thank you, sir. I'll think about it carefully."
With that, she took the signed leave application and left the supervisor's office without another word.
"How did it go? Was it approved?"
Sang Ying was shocked to learn that Yun Zijin had requested leave yet again. Young people these days were so bold!
Waving the leave application in the air, Yun Zijin said confidently, "Of course. There's no leave I can't get approved."
Sang Ying gave her a thumbs up, admiring her ability to secure time off.
"It's almost lunchtime. I'll hand in my leave application to the administration department and then head out. See you tomorrow, Sister Sang!"
"See you tomorrow."
Leaving Dingsi Building, Yun Zijin took a taxi to the Auto Expo City located in the southern suburbs of the capital.
Although she had purchased many luxury brands recently, at work she still preferred wearing her original clothes. The only luxury item she wore was a Tiffany T series T1 diamond bracelet on her wrist. In the office, everyone was busy, and nobody paid much attention to these details.
However, just because her colleagues didn't notice didn't mean others wouldn't. Auto Expo City's salespeople, like those at luxury boutiques, tended to judge customers by their appearance.
Seeing that she arrived alone and wore no obviously branded clothing (other than the possibly authentic Tiffany bracelet), one might guess this was her first visit. Yet she showed no nervousness. She could be a prepared potential buyer, though not necessarily a big spender.
Still, even a small sale was worthwhile. One of the salespeople approached her.
"Hello, I'm Li Qi, a salesperson at the Volkswagen 4S store. What kind of car are you looking for?"
"Volkswagen?"
This brand wasn't known for extremely high-end cars.
"Sorry, I'm not planning to buy a Volkswagen."
Volkswagen focused on affordability, but she needed to spend six million yuan today, not just buy a small commuter car under 200,000 yuan.
"I see. Could you tell me your budget, then? I can recommend another brand."
Li Qi wasn't discouraged. Even if he couldn't sell his own brand, he could refer the customer to someone else. In Auto Expo City, referrals earned a small commission—0.5% of the salesperson's cut.
"About six million, maybe," said Yun Zijin casually.
"Six... six million?" Li Qi had assumed her budget was around 200,000 yuan at most. He never expected her to say six million.
"Yes," confirmed Yun Zijin.
"Please wait a moment, I'll ask someone from a different brand to assist you. Do you have any preferred brand in mind?"
Salespersons couldn't cross-sell other brands directly, so Li Qi would need to hand this off to another brand's rep. In the internal sales group chat, Li Qi tagged everyone, announcing a six-million-yuan budget buyer was available. Whoever came first would get the lead.
Some responded quickly, but not everyone believed him. Li Qi expected this skepticism. With so many salespeople and countless odd situations, it was normal for people to doubt such a large claim.
Before long, a young salesperson from the Rolls-Royce 4S store stepped out.
"Brother Li," the newcomer greeted.
Li Qi recognized him as Hu Yi, an intern who'd been sent out because the experienced salespeople were cautious. If this customer was real, the store wouldn't miss out, but if it was a waste of time, at least they'd only used an intern. This kind of tactic was common.
"Ms. Yun, this is Hu Yi from the Rolls-Royce brand. With your budget, Rolls-Royce has many suitable models," Li Qi said, introducing them.
"Let's go take a look," said Yun Zijin.
"This way, please," Hu Yi said, leading her towards the Rolls-Royce showroom.
He didn't have much confidence in this deal. He had come out partially out of obligation to Li Qi, who usually helped him. But he was also surprised. Could this really be a hidden wealthy buyer?
"Do you have any preference for the type of car? Rolls-Royce models generally lean towards business-oriented designs," Hu Yi began. Although some models matched sports cars in performance, the brand's image was usually more business and luxury focused, popular among middle-aged successful individuals.
"Please just recommend a few. Li Qi already told you my budget is six million. Show me a few models that fit into that range."
Yun Zijin didn't know much about luxury cars. As long as the spending fit her needs, that was enough.
"Alright. Are you interested in an SUV? The Cullinan's price is quite reasonable. It might be slightly above market value, but that shouldn't be an issue with your budget."
Hu Yi guided her to the Cullinan display car.
"If you want a test drive, I can help arrange it."
"Do you have something smaller?"
The Cullinan was impressive, but as a single person, she didn't need something so large.
"Smaller, huh? Then let's take a look at this Phantom. Do you like it? It only has two seats and the price is slightly lower."
Hu Yi led her to the Phantom display. The black body and sleek lines immediately caught her eye. He noted her micro-expressions. After receiving so many customers, Hu Yi had some experience. He could tell the Phantom had piqued her interest.
"How much is it? If I sign the contract, how long until I get the car? Can you handle the license plate and insurance procedures?"
Getting a license plate in the capital was troublesome. If the 4S shop could handle it, that would save her a lot of time.
"The final price depends on the configuration you choose. We can handle all the paperwork, license plate, and insurance for you. However, the car is made to order, so it will take at least half a month before delivery. There's no way around that."
Hearing Hu Yi's explanation, she nodded. "Alright, place an order for me. I'll pay in full."
