Chapter 16-The Characteristics of Succubi
“Emiliya, let’s leave it at that. You can find another scholar, and I can find another way to survive.”
Emiliya hesitated for a moment.
If Lyle was really determined to withdraw, there wasn’t much she could do.
“Lyle, you wanted to buy a house, right? It’s not impossible with a few million gold coins. The Oak Inn can pay you fifty gold coins, and I can offer you…”
Emiliya gritted her teeth. “One hundred.”
“That’s the most hurtful thing to say. Are you planning to hire a servant?”
Lyle smiled at Emiliya and ignored her.
His gaze shifted to Flo beside them.
“What’s up?”
Flo, with her deep obsidian-like pupils, dressed in a black dress, and petite like a doll, was commonly known as the Grim Reaper of the Moonlit Blossoms.
“I know you don’t listen to me.”
Lyle placed his hand on her head and stroked it. “But no one will be there to pull you along from behind anymore. Be careful on your own, okay?”
It was Flo’s favorite pastime, akin to the mischievous hobbies of the children Lyle had seen in a previous life, like setting off fireworks in cow dung.
Among the monsters in the dungeon, or rather, the residents of the dungeon, there were some with relatively gentle temperaments.
All the information about Ishgard was fragmented. In this magnificent and magical underground city, gathering clues was an essential part of the strategy.
But Flo didn’t care. When she saw a monster, she would just go and blast it first. Like a mischievous child playing with firecrackers.
Flo’s face stiffened for a moment. “Don’t touch me.”
She was being overly finicky. In Flo’s eyes, things were quite straightforward. If you didn’t listen, you would be locked in the basement, end of story.
Haha, just kidding.
But to be honest, because of the slightly peculiar source of magic, Flo’s physique hadn’t changed much over the years. This led to this smelly guy treating her like a little sister without her consent. Who wants to be your little sister? It was as if she had poked through a Nissan during her rebellious phase.
Lyle withdrew his hand and locked eyes with the girl who was staring at him.
“Leaving, huh?”
“After you leave, there will be no one nagging me, stopping me from blasting this or that,” Flo said, making a ‘peng’ gesture with her finger.
Watching him and the pointed ears walking away, Emiliya slowly nibbled on her fingers.
Emiliya’s expression showed a hint of dejection.
Rarely did she want to help him and sell him some favors.
And he refused?
Trying to rely on brewing to escape this young lady?
“Flo, accompany me to find Eber.”
Flo, like a porcelain doll, tilted her head. “What do you want to do?”
Emiliya smiled softly. “Lyle is planning to become a brewer. He’s our companion. Let’s quietly help him a bit.”
Flo was taken aback.
Quietly?
After tonight’s banquet.
If the Silver Guild really approaches him.
Who wouldn’t know it was you?
“Are you trying to help him or do you want him to know that you’re helping him? When he comes looking for you, you can pretend to be pitiful, clutch your chest, and say, ‘I just wanted to help you, I care about you… Pathetic, isn’t it?'”
Emiliya covered her chest in confusion. “Flo, what are you saying? How could you think that way about me? I really care about Lyle.”
Flo seemed quite amused. “No, I was just kidding. Let’s go. I’ll accompany you.”
Meanwhile, as Lyle reached the door, someone called out to him.
“Mr. Lyle.”
One of Eber’s wives stood there with a gentle smile.
“I’m sorry, but Eber won’t be able to rest with you today. Here is his membership card for Dreamland. All your expenses when you go to play there will be covered by the Silver Guild.”
The small silver card bore a series of mysterious addresses and exquisite patterns.
Lyle examined it carefully.
Sue’s tail seemed to have the same design.
Lyle was somewhat taken aback. “You’ve got the wrong idea. I never go to places like that.”
Was it similar to finishing a business deal and giving someone a foot bath city card?
Dreamland was the biggest fireworks display area in all of Iofu.
The woman smiled, “Mr. Lyle, please accept it. You are an important partner to us.”
Eber had spilled the beans. He was the one who took Lyle there in the first place. Lyle would never have gone to such a place before.
After a moment’s thought, Lyle replied, “Alright, thank you.”
The woman chuckled behind her hand, “You’re welcome. Lyle, please visit often.”
Lyle felt somewhat resigned.
But truth be told, if he had some spare time, experiencing it might not be a bad idea. Whether it was about succubi or anything else didn’t matter.
Just go and take a look.
Lilyss looked wary and said, “Of course, the teacher won’t go to a place like that! We have a succubus at home, and she’s much prettier than any of the succubi in Dreamland!”
“Huh?”
The woman was taken aback for a moment.
The cost of a night in Dreamland ranged from a couple of gold coins to several tens of gold coins. However, if one wanted to take a succubus home, the price would be significantly higher.
It would cost several hundred to a few thousand gold coins. Each succubus was a collective treasure of the entire Euphoria, and if someone wanted to take one home for private use, they would need to pay extra.
Feeling awkward discussing this matter with the dignified-looking woman, Lyle hurriedly left with Lilyss, pulling her away swiftly.
“Alright, you go back on your own,” Lyle said, leaving Lilyss on the street before preparing to return to his own inn.
“Where are you going, Teacher?” Lilyss asked.
“I’ve been busy brewing at the Oak Tavern these days, I’m quite tired. I’m going back to rest,” Lyle replied.
“Are you going to rest in Dreamland?” Lilyss asked warily.
Lyle paused for a moment and then said, “Oh, right.”
“Lilyss, isn’t Su much more beautiful than those succubi? Hey, hey! Don’t look down on Su!” Lilyss pulled on his sleeve.
Lyle pondered for a moment and asked, “So?”
“I can’t really stop you from going wherever you want, Teacher!” Lilyss was genuinely anxious. “But do you know the characteristics of succubi?”
“Succubi thrive on the belief of debauchery.”
“Exactly. Once you’ve had a liaison with a succubus, her scent will permanently linger on your body. Succubi use this to mark their victory and conquest.”
Lyle paused for a moment and said, “Like a dog marking its territory?”
“Something like that, and this scent will linger indefinitely,” Lilyss explained seriously. “While others might not notice it, Su will definitely be able to smell it.”
Lyle pondered her words. This characteristic should be similar to the natural fragrance characteristic of elves, right? Both were innate.
“But I don’t have any relationship with that succubus,” Lyle asserted.
Lilyss shook her head firmly. “I just feel that a good person like you, Teacher, shouldn’t be misunderstood by Su.”
Lyle waved his hand. “You’re overthinking it. Even if that succubus is attractive, I have no intention of trying to improve my relationship with her.”
Lilyss blushed, her bright blue eyes seeming to speak. “If it really comes down to it, Teacher, I could… Hey? Teacher, don’t go! Are you really going to… sniff… sniff…”
Lyle glared at her. “I’m going to the laboratory.”
