Chapter 08-Lick him!
“Lyle.”
As they walked out of the Oakwood Inn, Emiliya clung to Lyle’s sleeve with a sorrowful expression.
Lilyss had initially thought he was kicked out, but the situation seemed different now.
Emiliya spoke bitterly, “Lyle, are you really not coming back?
Even if, even if things aren’t good between you and Xiya, you still have us, don’t you?”
Lyle shook his head.
“I’m truly afraid… I fear that Moonlit Blossom will just fall apart like this… Even though we used to be so close…”
The priestess wiped her tears away, her voice choked with sobs.
Lyle looked down at her pitiful appearance. In a way, they were mutually dependent.
After he left, they probably wouldn’t even know how to take care of themselves. Who could endure the helplessness of these three young ladies who had almost no self-sufficiency skills?
Honestly, seeing her like this, Lyle was somewhat satisfied.
“Lyle, can’t we go back home? Please come back with me…”
Emiliya’s emotions were fluctuating wildly.
She clutched Lyle’s shirtfront tightly, her eyes watery, almost unable to stand. She truly looked like a lost cat.
It was all an act.
In reality, Emiliya was on the verge of going insane.
She knew how great her figure was, like ripe summer fruit. In the past, Lyle would often steal admiring glances at her.
But what was he doing now?
Why was he so absent-minded?
She tried various angles to regain control but found that his hand resting on her soft waist didn’t make any further moves, just a faint warmth.
Lyle let out a soft sigh. “Emiliya, please don’t be like this. In these two years, I believe I’ve done everything I possibly could.”
Effort, emotions, and endless dedication – these two years, he had given all his tenderness to these three young ladies.
They enjoyed everything without a care while he received nothing, not even a sigh of relief. Now that he was leaving, they chased after him, talking about change and wanting him to return.
It seemed like they were granting him a choice, but in reality, it was stripping away his freedom, gnawing at his bones and marrow.
Emiliya might be pure and clear in her intentions. Or maybe she just wanted to keep him locked in Moonlit Blossom forever.
Lyle wasn’t keen on trying to decipher the thoughts of a Light-worshipping priestess, but he couldn’t help but feel a bit uncomfortable. He felt like a clown, and it wasn’t a pleasant feeling.
“Well… can you promise me not to join another adventuring group? That would make both of us sad…”
She had seen the image of Beryl recruiting Lyle with her own eyes, for whatever reason.
Emiliya’s first instinct was to strangle him before talking. However, what surprised her was that even this “small request” was rejected by Lyle.
“Emiliya, I can’t promise that,” Lyle said quietly.
“Maybe after I’ve rested enough, I’ll join a civilian adventuring group.
We’ll all be from the same social class, working together to clean up battlefields, sell materials, haggle over a few coins… Just like when we started, you weren’t young ladies, and I wasn’t a servant.”
Emiliya froze, a sinking feeling in her heart. She had always regarded Lyle as her possession.
She was smarter than Xiyaa, knowing how to package her desires as sweet and when to give some leeway. Plus, Lyle seemed to have a natural misunderstanding about the Light.
Even when she made some unreasonable requests at times, he never questioned himself. The previous Lyle had always been under Emiliya’s control. But now, it seemed like his foundation was starting to crumble.
He was starting to struggle and chase after those elusive freedoms.
“Lyle, are you giving up on your dreams, then?” Emiliya asked.
Lyle fell silent for a moment. “It’s precisely because I still carry my dreams that I have to leave.”
Speaking of which, Lyle’s brewed liquor did indeed have a strong taste and aroma. However, as someone who had relatively more communication with Lyle, Emiliya knew about Lyle’s dreams, which included going deeper into the underground.
In Iofar, owning a house that truly belonged to him, not to Moonlight Blossom, was Lyle’s deep-seated desire.
Emiliya couldn’t understand this mindset of working and drifting in a big city, but she knew that Lyle’s determination ran deep. It seemed like without a home of his own, he couldn’t find stability.
However, Iofar was a paradise for adventurers and a hell for the poor.
Wanting to survive by brewing alcohol was not a problem, but buying a house?
Fifty gold coins for rent, subtracting daily expenses, it was basically living on a tight budget. If it was just brewing, you’d end up returning to Moonlight Blossom with a bitter face.
Even though most of the earnings from their dungeon runs were squandered by the three of them, the amount left for you was definitely more than a measly fifty gold coins.
“No, you’re lying to me, aren’t you?” Emiliya unconsciously raised her voice.
“You just want Xiyaa to know that you can go on without her, right?
You’re trying to get back at Xiyaa, aren’t you?
You’re being stubborn, aren’t you? And you even found Beryl.”
“Even if you want to make money, how much can you earn just by brewing? It can’t compare to being a scholar, can it? Xiyaa will only look down on you even more. She’ll think you’re willingly degrading yourself.”
Lyle chuckled bitterly. “No.”
“Are you trying to prove yourself, Lyle?”
Emiliya’s long eyelashes trembled gently.
“I know that woman recruited you into Crystal Tears just to annoy Xiyaa, right?
That’s why you refused, isn’t it?
Lyle, I don’t know when you learned such high-level brewing, but there really is no future in it… It’s just a life skill… You won’t earn as much gold as you want… In Iofar, adventuring is the way to go.”
Lyle fell silent for a moment. “So, are you concerned about me now?”
“Of course,” Emiliya replied.
“Ugh…” Lurking in the shadows, Lilys inwardly let out a sigh of frustration.
It seemed like she had figured out some things.
Moonlight Blossom had held onto Lyle for too long. Additionally, Lyle appeared to be too submissive.
Did she really think that having a level six life skill was a piece of cake?
Was there really someone that naive?
Lilys was emotionally stable about the situation.
Of course, there was another possibility. Lyle had mastered these skills with minimal effort, so even he and everyone at Moonlight Blossom believed it was nothing out of the ordinary, thinking it was something they didn’t need to pay much attention to. Logically, the second possibility seemed more likely.
Lilys felt that something was off.
The elven girl touched her pointed ears, which felt quite hot.
“I’m not lying, am I?
Never mind.
I just need to worship him as my teacher!
I’ll make him lose himself in the title of ‘teacher’ over and over again!
Then, I’ll soon be able to exchange for a luxurious mansion with a hot spring and a yard!”
