Chapter 04- Miss Pastor, the smell of tea is overflowing!
While Lyle was chatting with Beryl.
A pair of captivating eyes locked onto them from a distance.
Priestess Miss Emiliya watched as Lyle and Beryl conversed and laughed.
Today, no one had prepared dinner, and Emiliya, whose mouth had been watering due to Lyle’s cooking, had no choice but to venture out in search of food.
After a half-hearted meal that lacked flavor, she couldn’t help but feel irritated.
Lyle might not necessarily be a good scholar, but he was certainly a talented cook.
Emiliya was already feeling vexed when she lifted her head and saw the leader of the Crystal Tear Adventuring Party trying to recruit Lyle.
Lyle declined, which secretly pleased Emiliya. But how could he be chatting and laughing with that vile woman?
Ugh, it’s truly disgusting.
Instead of trying to please me and lift my skirt, are you planning to stay by that green tea’s side?
Do you want to lie in her arms?
Weren’t you the one who always wanted to put your hand under my clothes?
Emiliya wished she could give that woman a good smack. However, Lyle was the type who wouldn’t yield to force.
“Lyle…”
Lyle looked up and saw Emiliya, who appeared tired and disheveled, with red, swollen eyes, as if she had been crying.
“Emiliya?”
Lyle was taken aback.
“What are you doing here?”
He felt a sudden sense of relief. Emiliya’s words were more forgiving. If it had been Xiya, she might have accused him of betrayal right away.
Just the thought of it made Lyle feel like he couldn’t breathe properly.
“Xiya threw a tantrum and didn’t eat dinner, so I came out to buy something,” Emiliya explained.
Ah… Actually, she bought it for herself.
Emiliya cautiously sat down next to Lyle, leaning in slightly as she spoke. Her priestess robes were tightly secured around her neck, but her ample bosom swayed gently like two glasses of red wine being lightly swirled.
She had a subtle way of alluring with her gestures.
However, Emiliya’s long eyelashes were already adorned with teardrops as she spoke, “Lyle, I really didn’t expect Xiya to say those things to you… If I had been there…”
With just a few soft-spoken words, Emiliya firmly placed herself in Lyle’s camp. She even deliberately crossed her legs and gently adjusted the hem of her long dress. Her curvaceous, well-defined legs, combined with her innocent and pitiful expression, exuded a magnetic charm that could make any man’s blood boil.
She wasn’t wearing stockings today, what a pity.
Lyle’s plump, warm body naturally gravitated towards her, and he could only extend his hand to gently pat her shoulder.
Among the Moonlight Blossom Adventuring Party, the person he had the best relationship with was this priestess. She was gentle, and she never treated him with disdain.
She was a faithful follower of the Holy Light, intelligent, and empathetic.
Lyle felt guilty. “I can only accompany you all up to this point, Emiliya. I’m sorry.”
Emiliya’s frustration welled up in waves.
She was much smarter than Xiya. Who else would willingly accompany her and the others through all their ups and downs? Lyle was truly one of a kind.
She hadn’t expected him to leave.
What would they do without him?
Emiliya wiped away her tears and said in a pitiful tone, “Shall we go to that old restaurant we used to visit?
Do you still remember it?
In the beginning, when we first entered the dungeon, our daily earnings were so meager, but you always gave us the meat.”
“We used to clink glasses filled with plain water and pledge to become the most legendary adventuring party , even though it was the coldest winter outside.”
“You said that even if it was a harsh winter, Moonlight Blossom would definitely get better.”
“It will definitely get better.”
“During those toughest days, when we were hungry at night and couldn’t afford supper, you went to work at the tavern to make ends meet.”
“Even during our most difficult days, you never left us behind. Waaah…”
“During that time, we hunt through our belongings, and if it weren’t for your advice, I almost sold my staff.”
“If… if you think doing housework and making breakfast is too hard, I can learn to do it too… It’s just that I’m afraid I might be a bit clumsy and make you dislike me…”
Lyle was also stirred by her words, reminiscing about those tough yet heartwarming days.
As Emiliya continued to speak, her eyes welled up with tears, and she bit her lower lip.
“Can’t you come back… I really need you…”
She portrayed herself as pitiful, removing herself from the equation and placing the blame squarely on Xiya. She presented their beautiful memories to evoke a sense of shared nostalgia, and finally, she asked if he had any grievances while expressing her self-doubt.
Emiliya’s tea ceremony was truly top-notch, a masterful display of charm.
Even Beryl couldn’t help but be taken aback by the depth of emotion in her words. Was Lyle truly such an exceptional teammate? Perhaps marrying him wouldn’t be a bad idea!
Emiliya’s eyes carried a mix of innocence and longing, and her throat emitted a soft hum, reminiscent of a contented kitten.
She was still sobbing!
Beryl interjected with a question, “After all that talking, haven’t you two actually done anything?”
Emiliya’s expression froze on her face. Lyle wiped away her tears, his touch gentle as if comforting a little kitten. He then shook his head slowly but resolutely.
“It’s better for you to go back now. This was a decision I made after careful consideration, Emiliya. You deserve a better scholar.”
“Lyle, you…”
Watching Lyle’s retreating figure, Emiliya bit her finger fiercely. He used to come to me for solace when he felt wronged by Xiya, and he would be all sweet and charming, willing to do anything I asked. But now, he’s running away from me?
Someone wants to take Lyle away…
Beryl put on a thoughtful expression. And that damned Xiya!
Under the starry sky, Beryl looked at Lyle by her side, her expression showing a hint of hesitation.
“Are you sure you’re okay? Won’t your teammates misunderstand?”
Beryl asked, her woman’s intuition telling her that the priest might not be as innocent as she seemed.
Lyle shook his head and replied, “It’s fine, and I should thank you, really.”
Beryl smiled happily, her mouth forming a mischievous curve like a forest nymph. “Then join our Crystal Tears!”
The feeling of being valued and praised was quite pleasant. It wasn’t about wanting to be superior to others, but at least being recognized for one’s abilities and efforts. Lyle’s heart felt lighter.
As an uneducated scholar who had come this far with the three of them, guiding Moon blossom to where it was today, anyone should have looked at him with some respect, right?
But why did Xiya always scold me with such an entitled attitude?
Was I really too subservient?
In the end, Lyle shook his head and declined, saying, “No, thanks.”
Beryl shrugged, looking somewhat resigned. Lyle had genuinely had enough.
At the beginning, they had come together for their dreams, but everyone changed with time. Hearts were indeed fragile things.
“I’m not saying Crystal Tears is bad, it’s just… I don’t think I’ll be going into the dungeons anymore,” Lyle explained.
Beryl seemed to understand something and fell into a brief silence.
“Don’t overthink it,” she finally said with a smile. “If you don’t want to venture into the dungeons anymore, enjoy yourself. Ilyoph is full of beautiful places.”
“Thank you,” Lyle replied.
