Adventures of the last Wild Dragon

Chapter 100: Goodbyes and Hello’s

The sun blazed overhead, having reached its zenith some time ago it was just beginning its decent. As the shadows were beginning to once more elongate, several new shadows cast themselves on the cliff that separated the central valley of the Elemental Valleys from the rest of the domain.

These shadows belonged to a disparate assortment of beasts, 10 figures made up this group. Consisting of 3 electic wolves, a small yet agile cat, a blue feathered hawk. A giant beast soon joined the others, its thick fur coving its hide and a long and powerful trunk came from its face flanked by two mighty tusks.

Lastly came the perhaps strangest of the group, first came 2 humanoid figures, one being a golden haired dogkin, now wearing a slightly ill fitting white robe. Besides her walked a white haired snow leopard beastkin, she was taller than the dogkin and moved like a trained hunter, her leather armour showing some wear and tear yet if one looked closely they would be able to see it slowly repairing itself.

Then came two dragons, one the colour of sapphires, her blue scales shinning and the occasional bolt of electricity could be seen dancing along them. Next to her walked the leader of this group, a dragon with scales akin to onyx's, although in this light a faint purple tint could be made out. Her eyes glowed violet and a subtle pressure seemed to radiate from her form.

Violet and her group of beasts had arrived back outside of the central valley.

Their journey back through the various domains within the valley was thankfully considerably easier than their initial head long dash through. Whilst they still had their fair share of battles, it was nothing compared to the concerted defence that they had to punch through on their way in.

The worst of it was again within the shadow domain right at the edge, that was simply because it was such a creepy domain to travel through. Still they got lucky and only had to face 1 ungodly abamination as they travelled through.

Still though Violet couldn't help but shudder as she remembered disfigured and ever shifting form of that monster. Nothing should have tentacles erupting from within their eyeballs! Especially when a being had hundreds of eyes!

But regardless they had made it through the gauntlet of domains once more, this time without loosing a single member of the group!

The teamwork they could display was one of the main factors that they benefitted from, yet arguably the greatest boon was simply how powerful all present were now that they had completed the quest and slain the guardian.

Thinking back Violet thought she sould compair her status from before she entered the Central Valley to what she was now at, the change was truly eye opening.

It was a truly impressive change for the young dragon, after all it isn't often that one gains over 10 levels in a couple of days! And most of that was gained during the first 15 or so hours of their journey into the valley!

The remaining beasts after they had slain the guardian and its tree had rested all that night. Come morning some of the individually strong beasts began to wander off. The notable ones being the golden chimera and the large onyx snake.

Soon though the others began to disperse, the ice elemental left with 3 other beasts that it seemed to have journeyed with.

Violet's group was the outlier being so large. Yet it worked out quite nicely as they were easily able to handle any beast that challenged them on their way back out. Well except for that shadow monster but Violet refuses to think about that horror any more so it doesn't count!

Still now that they had finally escaped from the dangers of the central valley this groups time together was fast approaching its end.

At the end of the day they were a desperate group of beasts that would never normally have worked together. It was only the unique circumstances and Violet's strength that had brought them together. Now that they no longer required each others strength, or had a shared goal it made no sense of the beasts to stick together.

Whilst Violet knew that instinctivly, she would still be sad to see them go. From the taciturn alpha wolf that always fought at the front, to the reliable presence of the trunked giant.

They made for a truly strange group but worked surprisingly well together.

Yet all things must eventually come to an end.

The first to separate was the wolves. The alpha looked over at Violet and dipped his head in quiet recognition, he even gave Luna a quick nod too before he turned around and walked off into the surrounding forest. His 2 remaining pack mates following swiftly behind their leader.

The eagle was next, letting out a mournful cry she circled Violet and Luna a couple of times in the air before flying straight up into the sky. Just as she changed direction one last cry echoed out.

Then the feline left, a simple yowl directed towards them was its only statement before it left in a different direction to the wolves.

Then only the trunked beast remained. It stood for a couple of minutes with the remaining figures before slowly picking a direction and beginning to head off. At the tree line it paused before turning its mighty head back and looking directly at Violet. Then much to her surprise she felt a mental weather connect her mind to its.

A deep gravely voice echoed out in her mind, it sounded ancient yet contained boundless energy despite the maturity it held. "Goodbye Wild One, I wish you luck in your journeys. May our paths cross once more."

Violet was so stunned by the message that she failed to respond. And by the time she gathered her thoughts enough to formulate a reply the beast was somehow already gone, hidden from within the dense forest before them.

She stood there in slight bemusement as she realised that the beast likely had the ability to talk the entire time, yet chose to never say anything. Snorting in amusement Violet shook her head and decided to just ignore that oddity.

Then their were 4, two dragons and two beastkin.

It was a strange party, made of two pairs. One formed from shared oppression and their daring escape from their shackles. The second one based on genuine affection and true companionship. Formed by an infant dragon managing to save a distraught young girl from imminent death, their relationship only growing deeper as they grew in both strength and age together.

Now these two pairs had chosen to join together under a shared goal. For whilst Violet was not exactly sure that they would be able to truly topple an entire kingdom that was apparently powerful enough to kill great dragons like her mother. She was at least determined to seek it out and see for herself what she could do.

Luna naturally chose to follow her companion on this quest. Despite the danger, the young beastkin refused to ever be separated from her companion. And would never let her head straight into danger without Luna right by her side.

So as the party of convenience said their goodbyes. A new party formed of conviction and a desire to see the world formed. Together they set out towards the east eager to dive right into their next adventure.
