Chapter 18: Chapter 18
Now she wondered how long this was going to take. Where was Dave? She did not care as she sat by the table. After a bit of time, she got up and went to find Dave.
Luna could not believe that he held and kissed another girl.
"This is what you brought me here for?"
Dave turned. "Please Luna, can you understand?"
"Understand what? How many times must I do this and give you a chance with your empty promises?"
"Who is she?" The girl asked.
"Just my date," Dave replied sheepishly.
"Are you two dating?" The girl asked.
"No, we are not," Dave replied,
"Then why am I here for Dave?" Luna snapped.
"We will talk about this later."
"No, Dave, we talk about it now."
Dave turned to the girl. "I will talk to you in a minute."
The girl nodded reluctantly. She kissed him, "Don't keep me waiting for long."
Dave smiled, "Of course not."
Luna was in disbelief that he had the nerve to say that in front of her.
When the girl was out of sight, Dave looked at her.
"I can explain."
"Go ahead, Dave, tell me your bullshit."
"I need to raise my ranks. I'm not with her that way. When I do reach the top, I will make sure that you will be with me. I'm doing this for us and our future Luna."
"So why not bring her as your date?"
"She didn't want but when she saw me with you, she got jealous."
"I'm not doing this anymore, you're pathetic."
"Please Luna, you know me well." Dave pleaded.
"I thought I did, Dave, but turns out you are worse than I thought. You have truly opened my eyes as to the level of trash you are. Bringing me here to use me and having the nerve to lie about it."
"Fine, is there anything that I can do to make it up to you?"
"There is nothing you can do for me, but leave me alone."
"Luna.........."
"I feel sorry for you."
He hung his head. "I will win you back."
She scoffed, "Cheating is the one thing I don't forgive, making someone think that they are not good enough."
"It's not that way with us."
Luna chuckled, "Oh, but it is, honestly it's cowardly that you could not tell me the truth and let me go."
"I don't want to lose you, Luna."
"No, you enjoy using me, being there at your beck and call. I know that you know how I feel about you."
"I did, and I tried to not reciprocate those words but I couldn't.
"Make me understand. What was your game plan?"
"I didn't think that far as I had to end the relationship before you found out."
"You're beyond a loser. I see now why you're where you are. You don't think far. How stupid of you to think that you could kill two birds with one stone?"
"I know, I was wrong Luna, but please, this is the last time that I will make you regret picking me."
"No Dave, I was already moving on from you but in my mind, I thought just one more time. To give you the benefit of the doubt. YET that decision has led me here, being a clown. I knew better and still chose you. Just leave me alone or else I will make you regret it."
Lana turned but she did not do it well, as her shoe broke. She swallowed a huge lump, things had gone worse.
"Let me car...….."
"Don't come near me, Dave."
She could see that he had gotten the message, Luna took off her heel and carried it as she walked out.
Everyone did stare but she did not care. Luna knew that she would not be seeing these people anytime soon.
They were not in her social bracket nor tax bracket, and she doubted they would remember her if they did go to the restaurant she served.
She headed outside, and the nice cool air felt refreshing. She took another step when someone lifted her.
"Put......…."
She stopped and kept quiet when she realized it was Ace, knowing that he would not listen to her or she would be in trouble with his stupid rules and shit.
"Long evening?"
Luna nodded. "I just want to go home, please."
"What of Dave?"
"It's officially over and I don't want to talk about it."
"About time you stop looking at that bastard."
"I know."
Ace got in, she went in, and sat next to him at the back. As they pulled out, Luna saw Dave running towards the car.
Luna looked away, and they were on their way.
"Besides Dave, how was your day?"
"Exciting, but turned into a funeral."
Ace chuckled, "Rough night."
"How did you spot me?"
"I always look for you."
"Oh." That was all she could muster to say.
"I can't help myself." He replied, and she could tell that it wasa shocking revelation for him.
"I can see that."
"Besides, I do watch you at times when you don't know.."
Luna's eyes widened,
"It's not like that, it's always when you work or when you're in your room sleeping."
"You make it seem as if stalking is not a huge deal."
"In my world, it doesn't."
"That's why I don't want to be there. I'm not cut out for it."
"I know, I did leave you, but I could not help but come outside for you as your heel broke."
They sat there in silence, Luna mulling in her thoughts over Dave. A part of her was uncomfortable at the way Ace watched her as he drank.
"Is Dave with you guys?"
Ace nodded, "Long story, but he is at the bottom of the barrel."
"Ah makes sense."
"Why? Want to give him another chance?"
Luna could hear the edge in his voice.
"No, just curious, having dinner with the elites."
Ace nodded. They pulled by her apartment. It seemed as if he wanted to come out of the car and help her.
"No. I'm alright, I can manage on my own. Thank you for the ride, Sir."
Luna went to bed.
