Chapter 17: Chapter 17
Luna gulped, "It's okay, we should all g......…."
"Are you challenging me?" said Ace.
The way Ace said it, made her deeply cold, there was so much danger in his tone even as calm as he spoke.
"I'm not, just stating facts that Luna did nothing wrong."
"It's really okay, this is not necessary."
"You're waiting on me, so you can ignore what he says," William replied
Ace tilted his head, "Who are you talking to right now?"
Luna was beyond afraid, "Let me go, I need to fetch a few things, so everyone can stop arguing over nothing."
Luna dashed, and went back to the other waiters,
"What's going on between you and Ace?" Sienna asked.
"Nothing and you should know better."
"I don't get it," Sienna replied.
"He is devoted to you and showing you affection."
"It does not feel the same way with the way he treats and looks at you."
"Exactly Sienna, I get treated horribly and they treat you with fondness."
Sierra nodded, ''Okay if you say so."
The night finished and nothing happened, they locked up, and she turned to find William waiting for her.
"I had wanted to talk to you some more."
Luna smiled, "I understand."
"I did not mean to cause trouble for you tonight."
"You didn't," she reassured him.
"Luna."
She turned to find Ace there, "Yes Sir."
"Come." He replied.
She saw that William wanted to protest,
"I will see you another time."
William nodded, "You owe me."
"I will make it up to you."
Before William could respond to her, Ace was dragging her away.
Luna let Ace lead her away to his car, they sat at the back with the partition separating them from the driver and affording some privacy.
She did not say a word,
"So you lied to me, Luna."
She was confused, "In regards to?"
"William."
Luna didn't want him to see her fear, so she took a deep breath. She needed to be calm and act nonchalant.
Her mind was searching for answers but none were coming and this man never gave away much.
"He is just a friend."
"You know I hate being lied to."
Luna nodded, "I wouldn't."
"Why is he there to see you so much?"
"He needs someone to talk to as he seems to be lonely."
He tilted his head, "Why don't you offer me the same curtsey?"
"You have plenty of people who serve and entertain you Sir."
"Yet the one I want does not want to." He replied roughly.
She looked down, "Apologies."
"That is even worse. Say something else."
"I don't want to be in your presence."
Ace scoffed, "This is a first for me."
She did not respond,
"I guess I will have to teach William a lesson."
Luna was confused, "For what?"
"He thinks he can defy me."
"He doesn't, it's just a misunderstanding."
"Not for me."
"Please, don't do this."
"I see that lover boy now means something to you."
"He doesn't, he is a friend."
"Change my mind."
She fell silent, the last time she took a fall for Dave, Luna had promised herself that she would not put herself in such a compromising situation again.
"I can't."
"Give me your time."
"No."
Ace was surprised, "Last time you accepted it so quickly."
"Yes, I was desperate at that time and very foolish."
"So lover boy means nothing?"
"I can't keep going on like this."
"What do you mean?"
"If I keep on agreeing, then it becomes a never-ending cycle."
Ace leaned back, "What happened to you?"
Luna looked at the floor, "Nothing, I have been out of your way and I would love it if we could keep it that way."
"You would love it?"
"Yes Sir."
"You should think about it."
"No, I already have and I just want to keep it this way."
They stopped at her place,
"Fine, you can leave."
Luna climbed out of the car and headed back to her apartment.
A month had passed by and Luna had not seen Ace, she got another call from Dave. She was ignoring him but at the same time, her heart swayed.
"Please Luna I beg of you to be my date for tonight."
Luna shook her head, he asked her every day but she had not budged so he would realize that he lost her completely.
"Fine, just for tonight," Luna replied when he had begged her for the fifty millionth time.
"I sent you a dress to wear."
"Okay."
Friday evening came and Luna had taken the night off for Dave. The dress he had sent her was beyond beautiful.
It was long, red and she put on makeup and jewellery to top it off. A car came and the driver opened the door for her.
She climbed in the back and sat next to Dave, he kissed her on the cheek,
"I'm sorry for the way I have treated you."
Luna smiled, "I'm glad you apologized."
"Might I add, you look mesmerizing."
She blushed, "You look dashing yourself."
He took out a bracelet and put it on her wrist, "For you My Lady."
"Oh wow, it's beautiful, thank you."
"I will prove to you tonight that you won't regret giving me another chance," Dave replied.
They arrived and there were so many cars, this was an event, not the date that she thought they were going to have.
No wonder he had sent her such a gown, he opened the door and she took his hand. They walked inside and it was fancy.
They sat at their table which was at the back, and the evening began. She drank bit by bit to get through it.
The things that she saw and heard were shocking, how expensive things were, and the waste of money this was.
She looked at Dave and he was dead set on the presentation, it seemed as if his life hinged on this.
Luna wondered if he was here for her. If he was, he would spare her a glance, even a small one.
The whole presentation finally finished and they could mingle with others but she felt a bit dizzy,
"I will be back." Said Dave.
"Sure."
Luna did not move, she didn't know anyone, so she waited for Dave to come back.
