Abyssal Sovereign: The Demon's Dominion

Chapter 245: Past

"It's like this," Rin began, her tone calm. "A new galaxy filled with resources was discovered. I was sent by the Mercenary Group to secure it. But when I got there, I met others people from the Federation and the Night Blood Group. The three of us faced off and warned everyone else to back off... and then she arrived."

Rin paused, and Vaelen listened intently.

"I don't know her name, but her strength was out of this world. She defeated all of us with ease and mocked us while doing it. I was beaten until I lost consciousness. Before I blacked out, she said she was from a new organization,Dreadborne or something like that." Rin finished with a weary smile.

"I'm sorry, Auntie. I really am," Vaelen said sincerely.

"It's okay, Vaelen. I heard one of us called for backup, and General Drezan arrived and beat her," Rin chuckled softly as Vaelen smiled.

"But I still don't understand why they would do that… unless the organization used you all as a way to get noticed," Vaelen mused. "I mean, another person came and beat up General Drezan, and then they held a recruitment."

"Yes, unbelievable that someone could actually defeat Drezan. But you're right, they used us and Drezan as pivots to influence perception," Rin agreed.

"But… don't you feel some resentment? At least toward the woman who almost killed you?" Vaelen asked.

"Resentment? For what?" Rin shook her head. "I used to think I was a genius. Maybe not on the level of the princes, but still a genius. But she opened my eyes. She's a Universal Realm being. And what am I? An early Galaxy Realm user. The gap is enormous."

She paused, then looked Vaelen up and down. "Look at you, you're younger than me and already at the peak of the Planetary Realm. Or… have you broken through?"

"Might have," Vaelen replied with a smirk. "But I get what you're saying, Aunt."

Rin nodded. "Anyway, Grandpa will be happy to see his darling grandson… who also happens to be a prince. Hahaha. Enjoy yourself."

"Definitely. Thank you," Vaelen said, facing the large doors ahead.

After saying their goodbyes, Rin left. Vaelen knocked.

Knock, knock...

The doors creaked open on their own, revealing a large room where an old man was excitedly cleaning a massive sword.

"Don't tell me… is that the little brat?" the man said, turning as he sensed the door open.

"Grandpa," Vaelen nodded as he stepped in. The old man's eyes lit up instantly.

"Vaelen!" the old man shouted, rushing over and hugging him tightly.

Crack… Crack…

Bones creaked as Vaelen gasped.

"Grandpa.....stop, stop, stop!" he yelped, and the old man quickly released him, laughing heartily.

"Haha! I've been in this room for months,I don't even know my own strength anymore," he chuckled as Vaelen laughed along.

"Hahaha, understood, Grandpa. How have you been?" Vaelen asked as the old man dragged him to sit.

The old man waved his hand, and beer along with several dishes appeared on a table in front of them.

"Me? I'm fine. Healthy as ever. Can't you see? What, do you want your grandpa to die or something?" the old man squinted.

"Cough... I don't, but I know someone who...." Vaelen began, but the old man choked on his beer and downed it all in one gulp.

"Don't you dare finish that sentence… the jokes are too expensive," he said quickly.

"Grandpa Sely, Grandma still loves you," Vaelen teased.

"Don't say that! That woman is after my life!" Sely snapped, pointing a finger. "She hasn't found me yet, and she never will. Let me give you some advice, don't ever get married."

They laughed together, drinking and eating as they chatted joyfully.

Eventually, Sely's tone shifted.

"I'm sure you're not here just to see me. What's going on, Vaelen?"

"You're right, Grandpa. I'm sure you and the others already know that the new king will be my brother Theron. But do you know why he was chosen?"

Sely shook his head.

"It's because of what I'm about to tell you," Vaelen said seriously.

As he began explaining, Sely's face changed. The more he heard, the more disturbed he looked.

Sely was no ordinary man,he was a renowned Multi-Universal Realm powerhouse, second only to Ancestor Hollowind. But even he found Vaelen's words hard to bear.

"Vaelen… why did you all dig this deep?" he asked grimly.

"Shouldn't we have?" Vaelen asked, confused.

"There are some things better left unspoken… and some truths better left unknown," Sely muttered.

"Grandpa, what do you mean?"

"We already know about this," Sely replied. "But you young ones weren't meant to find out. It could cause chaos… and alert them."

"Them? Who's them?"

Sely's smile was tired… wary.

"The forefathers… the ones still alive," he said.

Vaelen's eyes widened in horror.

***********

Elsewhere in the Federation…

A secluded state on the outskirts, quiet and serene. Nature ruled here. Few lived in these parts but those who did were not ordinary men.

This was where the Multi-Universal Realm experts lived. Their village was peaceful... and deadly.

A serious meeting was underway.

"Everyone, I've gathered you all for something important," Hollowind began, standing at the center as dozens of figures paused their activities.

Sely was among them, watching Hollowind carefully. He already had a hunch what was coming.

"Huh? What is it now?" a middle-aged man grumbled. "I just bet that my Night Blood Group could wipe out Sely's Mercenary Group."

"Please," a shadowy elder chimed in. "My Wild Shade Group will devour the multiverse."

The rest laughed and bickered as Hollowind rubbed his forehead.

Sometimes he wondered how these beings each capable of wiping out hundreds of universes could act like a bunch of teenagers.

Finally, Hollowind raised his voice. "It's about them."

The room fell silent.

"Them… you mean?" someone asked, their voice tight.

"Yes. The forefathers," Hollowind said gravely. "They're coming back."
