Abyss Sequence

Chapter 61: The Deal

Yan Luo had just appeared in front of Julia and Suniya, when Suniya excitedly shouted at Yan Luo, "Yan Luo, let's have another round!"

She spoke in Elvish, which Yan Luo didn't quite understand, but he picked up on 'us' and 'fight'.

After thinking it over, Yan Luo asked in clumsy Elvish, "Us, battle?"

Suniya crossed her arms and nodded vigorously, "Exactly!"

This girl still hasn't learned her lesson.

Seeing Suniya's arrogant demeanor, Yan Luo knew exactly what she wanted, it was nothing but an attempt to erase the previous humiliation.

With this in mind, Yan Luo gestured with his hand, "Come on."

Suniya stood at a distance and immediately shot an arrow.

The arrow left the bowstring, and the runes engraved on the shaft lit up, attracting the wind and increasing the arrow's speed.

But to Yan Luo now, this arrow's speed wasn't particularly fast.

He stood quietly in place, suddenly reached out, and caught the incoming arrow with two fingers.

To Suniya, she only saw her arrow piercing through the wind, swiftly arriving in front of Yan Luo, and then he effortlessly caught it.

Suniya nearly broke down inside, gritting her teeth and fired three more arrows in a row.

One of the arrows was a guiding arrow, capable of accelerating the other two arrows, while the other two were a piercing arrow and an explosive arrow, respectively capable of penetrating armor and exploding.

Yan Luo shook his head and took out a shotgun, quickly firing three shots.

For someone like him with lightning-fast reactions, pumping a shotgun was more effective than a semi-automatic because he could fire at rapid speed as long as he pumped the fore-end fast enough.

Three shots in a second wasn't Yan Luo's limit; he could even fire five shots in a second, unleashing a torrent of damage instantly.

The three arrows hadn't yet reached Yan Luo when they got blasted away by the shotgun pellets.

Seeing this, Suniya's eyes immediately turned red.

"You, you—!"

She wanted to scold Yan Luo, but that was Yan Luo's weapon.

She herself used a bow and arrow, and if she scolded Yan Luo, wouldn't she be the most deserving of a scolding?

Even though Suniya was very angry, she couldn't say a harsh word.

"Sigh." Julia sighed softly.

To be honest, when Suniya prepared her magical arrows at the start, Julia had already predicted this outcome.

Julia had officially battled Yan Luo before, and knew how strong Yan Luo's combat prowess was. This human was close to the master rank and could fight off Level 4 demons alone.

Given this, Suniya was definitely not a match for Yan Luo.

Julia had heard from Suniya about how Yan Luo had treated her before. Frankly, Julia thought Yan Luo was already gentle enough.

If it had been someone colder, perhaps they would have rushed to kill her after Suniya fired that arrow, instead of just dislocating her joints and taking her with him, ensuring she didn't go hungry.

Unfortunately, Suniya was too proud.

She had reached Level 3 strength at a young age and bore the title 'Daughter of Phantoms', believing she would someday become a legendary figure.

Hopefully after this, Suniya would understand that although she had good talent, she shouldn't be so arrogant.

Julia pressed down the hand holding the short bow, pulling her towards Yan Luo.

Seeing this, Yan Luo knew there wouldn't be any more fighting and turned to Sasa sitting in the car, saying, "You can come down now."

Julia saw the door on the other side of that 'iron carriage' open as a stout heavy armor warrior jumped out.

Was this a human? Or maybe, a dwarf?

Could it be that the Blue Star had contacted other worlds before reaching them?

"Hello, I, Sasa, human."

Julia didn't expect the voice coming from within the heavy armor to be a youthful, female voice, and that it was indeed a human.

Looking from Yan Luo to Sasa, clad in exoskeleton armor, Julia couldn't help but ask, "Is the height difference between human males and females that significant?"

"What?" Yan Luo and Sasa both felt perplexed at the same time.

Previously, Yan Luo had taught Sasa all the Elvish he knew, but neither of them understood what Julia was saying.

Realizing the two humans opposite her couldn't quite comprehend Elvish, Julia felt a touch of embarrassment, "Sorry."

"No problem." Yan Luo shook his head and asked, "Do you want to continue with the exchange?"

Julia nodded, "Yes."

Not only her, but even Suniya, who had been defeated by Yan Luo again, was very interested in the 'iron carriage' behind the two humans.

Sasa noticed their curiosity but didn't immediately invite them into the car.

She took out a lighter and handed it to the two elves.

"Lighter."

Sasa demonstrated the use of the lighter to Julia and Suniya.

Staring at the lighter silently, Julia was shocked, "No Magic Power..."

Elves were naturally able to cast spells, and to them, any complex object should be driven by Magic Power.

Yet the purely mechanical structure of the lighter left Julia and Suniya feeling inexplicably shaken, realizing humans were quite different from what they had imagined.

Sasa was showcasing the capabilities of human civilization to the elves, and seeing their attitude, she knew she had succeeded.

Pure mechanical creations seemed to be incomprehensible to elves...

With this thought, Sasa sent Yan Luo a message.

After entering the Abyss, the United Government couldn't lock onto Yan Luo's position via signal, allowing him to activate personal terminal communications and interact with those nearby.

Seeing the message from Sasa, Yan Luo suddenly pumped the fore-end and fired a shot at a nearby tree.

Accompanying the blast of flames from the muzzle, a pattern of scars appeared on the tree trunk.

Suniya's eyes narrowed; it was this weapon that had shot down her arrows.

It seemed like some kind of bow too, but structured strangely, and without any Magic Power reactions.

Yan Luo took out a bandoleer, loading four shells into the magazine, and then demonstrated toggling the safety to the elf sisters before tossing the shotgun to Suniya.

Suniya was taken aback, catching the shotgun only after it painfully hit her.

Then she looked at Yan Luo in confusion, intending to return the shotgun but somewhat wanting it...

"It's yours."

Yan Luo hung the bandoleer on Suniya's shoulder and remarked indifferently.

The model of shotgun he used was far from cutting-edge technology; it could even be considered quite backward.

It was a model lost over ten years ago, which he continued to use simply because it suited him well.

Upon hearing this, Suniya was delighted but then remembered something, snorted lightly, and turned away, clinging tightly to the shotgun.

Julia, seeing Suniya's reaction, felt a headache coming on.

Sighing, Julia decided to ignore Suniya, focusing on Yan Luo and Sasa.

"We have nothing to give in return."

Sasa only understood half of this sentence, but fortunately she was smart, turning and placing the lighter in Julia's hand, motioning to ask Julia how to express this gesture in Elvish.

After understanding how to describe 'giving a gift', Sasa waved her hand, "No need."

Then, Sasa added, "In the future—"

She and Yan Luo mimicked a trading gesture, which instantly clarified things for Julia.

"Trade?"

After considering, Julia used the lighter as an example, handing Sasa a magical arrow.

Gazing at the engravings on the shaft, Sasa squinted slightly.

Unlike the printed engravings on Blue Star, elves were luxurious enough to use engraved arrows as consumables.

A lighter wouldn't be enough to trade for a magical arrow, Sasa thought, before running back to the car to fetch a thermos.

The thermos was filled with hot water; Sasa tapped the side, and the temperature display appeared.

Having communicated numbers with Julia, Sasa could straightforwardly explain that the boiling water was at 100℃, and how she could pour room temperature water into the thermos and know the current temperature.

The thermos had a high technological content, capable of retaining heat, displaying temperature, and even absorbing solar energy to heat the water inside.

Moreover, it had a shelf life of ten years, testifying to the extraordinary material costs.

A lighter plus a thermos was ample enough to exchange for a magical arrow.
