a story of a strong demon

Chapter 5: unraveling secrets

When Shangshu reached Shushi, everything about her came back to him. He remembered who she was, the girl from the Diwali night, the one Suka sacrificed his life to save. Yochiro had once told Shangshu about her.

Since Shangshu was fond of Shushi's blood, he wanted to kill her and consume her. He had decided to end her life in one go and then launched a powerful attack on her. But just then, Yochiro made his entry with his "Slash technique" —

"My slashes wounded Shangshu for a while," he said. "Before he could comprehend, I disappeared with Shushi."

Shangshu had never faced a Demon Fighter using the sword style technique. He didn't even know such a thing existed. By the time he realized what had happened, we were already gone. Shortly after, Shangshu also left.

We headed straight to Shushi, who considered Muiro as her older brother. Since Shushi's condition was critical, Muiro didn't ask many questions and quickly took us both inside his house. He laid Shushi in a room, and I waited there for her to regain consciousness. Meanwhile, Muiro gave me some medicine to feed to her and helped me bandage her injuries, especially her head and arm.

An hour later, Shushi regained consciousness. In the meantime, I searched the room as we were alone. I didn't find anything important.

When she woke up, she asked about the demon who had tried to kill her. I replied, "We both fled because that demon was even more powerful than me."

She then asked about the strange lines that had cut through that demon when I attacked. I told her, "Rest for now; I'll explain everything later." I told her we would train in two days because of her injuries. But she insisted, "Why wait? Let's train tomorrow so I can get stronger and take revenge on my boyfriend."

Realizing she wouldn't agree easily, I lied, saying I had a very important mission that I had to go on alone for two days. She accepted that. Then, she asked, "Are we at your house?" I answered, "No, we are at your elder brother Muiro's house." She then asked how I found this place, and I explained, "I asked the villagers."

She inquired about Muiro, and I told her he was cooking. I then said, "I must leave now because I have some urgent tasks." She insisted, "At least have dinner before you go." I politely declined and slipped out through the window.

Muiro later came to call us for dinner but was sad when he didn't see me. However, when he saw Shushi was awake, he asked her how she had regained consciousness and where I had gone. She explained that I had gone because of some important work but had asked her to rest.

Muiro then took Shushi to the dining table and asked her about me. She said, "Yochiro is an amazing person. He's the strongest fighter I've ever met. He also takes good care of me and teaches me well. He saved me from that demon."

Muiro replied, "You're right. He's truly praiseworthy. That demon you were saved from wasn't just any demon — it was Shangshu, an upper-rank demon. If I were in his place, I wouldn't have been able to save you."

Shushi then mentioned the strange lines around Yochiro when he saved her. Muiro asked, "Will you train tomorrow?" She replied, "No, Yochiro told me to rest. He wants to train me in two days, as he has some tasks to complete in the meantime."

Muiro then suggested, "Why don't you stay here today? I've already spoken to your parents." She agreed, as she wanted to investigate Suka's room for things that Muiro had been hiding from her.

When Muiro fell asleep, Shushi quietly searched Suka's room, but she found nothing of interest. She finally understood why Muiro had allowed her to stay in that room.
