a story of a strong demon

Chapter 3: training for revenge

He asked, "Why did you save me?" I replied, "Saving the weak is my job." Hearing this, he got angry because I was calling him weak, although he is a demon fighter. Then I asked, "Are you a demon fighter?" He answered, "Yes."

I laughed and said, "You're a very weak demon fighter. If you want, I can make you stronger." He started thinking, and I told him, "Don't rush, take your time to think." I said, "We'll meet here tomorrow at 4 PM. If you don't come, I'll understand that you don't want to become stronger."

He said, "It's not like that," and I said, "Come alone." He replied, "Yes." We exchanged a few more words, and then I left.

When Shushi went to her older brother's house, she told him about the person she met that day, whose eyes and voice resembled her boyfriend and her younger brother, Suka.

Muiro was surprised, saying that Suka was dead, so who could this be? He asked Shushi, "Will you meet him again? Do you know his house or can you introduce him to me?" She told him that she would meet him tomorrow at 4 PM, and he would train her to become a stronger demon fighter.

Muiro was shocked. Shushi told him that he could probably defeat 10 upper-ranked demons alone. One more thing, Shushi mentioned that he had told her to come alone. Muiro was not ready to accept this. Just then, Seto, my middle brother, arrived and informed him that we needed to keep an eye on the upper-ranked Shangshu. This made Muiro agree not to go with Shushi and gave her permission to receive training from Yochiro so that she could become stronger and take revenge on her boyfriend, Suka, by defeating the upper-ranked Shangshu. After this, they went home.

Next morning

Now Shushi arrives at the designated spot on time to start her training with Yochiro.

First day of training

On the first day, I wanted to teach her how to detect nearby demons on her own. To do this, she needed to calm her mind and focus on the sounds of demons, which would help her locate them. She also had to use another method: identifying the demon footprints, which were very different from human footprints.

Demons are attracted to human blood, something no demon fighter has used before. But Suka had used it to his advantage with Muiro. The key point is that most upper-ranked demons aren't attracted to it, but that doesn't mean they never are. Their attraction rate is around 70-85%.

I told her not to use this blood method yet, as she must learn to make her own plans first. This method is only used by the most powerful demon fighters, as sometimes it attracts too many demons at once, making them hard to handle.

For now, she only needed to focus on hearing the demons' sounds, but she said, "It's not night yet, so how will I hear the demons?" I replied, "You need to learn how to focus first. We'll wait until nightfall." She said, "Okay." I then told her, "Let's begin focusing."

Instead of focusing, she kept staring at my face, trying to figure out who I was. Since I was wearing a mask, she couldn't see my face.

I sternly told her, "Focus and stop staring at my face." She asked, "Can I ask you a question?" I said, "Okay." She asked, "Now that we're friends, can you show me your face?" Without thinking, I refused, and then she said, "I don't want to train with someone I can't even recognize. I'm leaving."

I responded, "If you don't want to train, then you can leave. But how will you take revenge on your boyfriend? You're so weak that you can't even defeat demons of normal levels, let alone the upper-ranked Shangshu. How will you defeat him? What will you tell your boyfriend's older brother?"

Hearing this, she asked, "How do you know about my boyfriend and my older brother?"

I said, "In this village, your brother is well-known. I heard people talking about you, saying that Shushi's brother is training her to become the strongest demon fighter to take revenge on her boyfriend by defeating the upper-ranked Shangshu."

She said, "Alright, I'll train with you."

But then, she asked again, "Can you remove your mask?" I thought for a moment and said, "I'll show you my face on one condition: if you can defeat the upper-ranked Shangshu and take revenge on your boyfriend." She said, "Don't backtrack on your words. Soon, I'll see your face."

After that, she began to focus. At first, she could only focus for a few seconds, but I told her, "Take a deep breath and calm your mind so you can hear the sounds around you."
