Chapter 12: "The Journey of Yochiro
I tell her that whenever I felt demons, I would go to those places, but by the time I arrived, the demons were already dead, meaning someone must have killed them before I reached there. I think you might be the one who killed those demons. She says, "Your speed is much higher than mine, so why couldn't you reach there quickly?" I explain, "I thought who could defeat the demons that fast? That's why I took my time. I didn't realize you'd enjoy killing demons so much that you'd finish them off so quickly. Anyway, there's no point in thinking about it now."
"Now tell me, what do you want from me for winning the bet?" I ask.
She replies, "Why don't we have a sword duel first, and then I can ask you two questions."
I say, "Fine, but that much confidence won't be enough to beat me. Now, try and show me how you escape from me, Yochiro."
She attacks without warning, but her sword doesn't even touch me. I say, "What a good strategy you've come up with, attacking without a warning, but it's not the right thing to do." She says, "You taught me that."
I reply, "Well, such things do help people win fights." She then starts attacking with her sharp sword, and I keep dodging her attacks.
At that moment, I notice that her speed has increased, which is a huge advantage for her. We keep fighting for about 15 minutes, and I'm having some fun, but then she gathers all her strength in one spot and says, "Handle this, Yochiro!" She launches a dangerous attack, but I manage to block it. It was a deadly attack, and even Muiro could have been injured if he had only defended himself from it. With that, she becomes very tired and says, "I can't fight anymore," and I win the duel.
She says, "We both won once, so you don't have to ask me any questions, but if you want to, you can. I'll ask the first question since I won first." I say, "Alright, go ahead, ask me anything."
She asks, "Where are you from, and can you tell me something about your family?" I reply, "Alright."
I tell her, "I used to live with my family. My father could fight small demons, but my mother was always worried about him, afraid something might happen to him. Demons would attack our village regularly, sometimes taking away people, sometimes children. I wanted someone to come and end these demons, but I never wanted to become a demon fighter because I was scared of demons. When a demon fighter was about to die, they'd pass on the demons to their weaker friends and escape."
"One night, when three demons attacked our home, my father managed to kill two of them, but the third demon was too powerful, and he came for me because I was just a child. My parents died while protecting me, but they managed to send me away to safety."
"Then, the next day, while I was on my way, I met a man who gave me food, and I told him my story. He advised me to become a demon fighter, and he took me to an old demon fighter. This old man trained me for about a year before passing away from natural causes. Before he died, he gave me several books to read, and that's how I ended up here today."
