a story of a strong demon

Chapter 11: the night hunt

It was now fully night, which was very beneficial for the demons as they come out at night to eat humans. In cursed villages, demons do not enter because demon fighters are stationed there, and only those who unknowingly enter the village are devoured by the demons.

I told Shushi that tonight she would have to kill around 100 demons because when the sword is first drawn, it demands a lot of blood. If she doesn't provide blood from other demons, she will have to give her own blood. If she doesn't, the sword will become angry, and she won't be able to wield it anymore.

She was scared and said she would rather not use the sword. I reassured her that it only has to be done once, as the old sword masters did it every time. I told her not to worry; if fewer demons appeared tonight, I would give my blood, and she only needed to focus on killing the demons. She agreed.

We set out to kill demons. Since I had already taught her how to find demons, she quickly located 5 demons and attacked them as I had shown her in training. She swiftly killed them with her sword. This time, she found it very enjoyable and said that when she used punches and kicks, it took a lot of strength, but with the sword, less effort was needed to kill demons. She then went on to kill a few more demons.

I told her it was time to return home, but she asked if we could kill more demons. She wanted to make it a game where she could practice more and kill demons while also ensuring the safety of people. I agreed and said, "Let's make a game out of it." She was excited and urged me to quickly tell her the rules.

I explained that the game would be to kill all the demons in the area, and whoever killed fewer demons would lose. The winner would get to ask questions to the loser. We also agreed that after the game, we would have a duel, and the winner could make the loser do anything within reason, as long as it didn't involve something they didn't want to do, like removing my mask or asking inappropriate questions.

She wondered how she could possibly win in a duel, as she knew she couldn't defeat me today, no matter how hard she tried. I assured her that after killing so many demons, she would get better at wielding the sword. I also promised that I wouldn't attack her, but if the duel got boring, I would quickly win by attacking her.

We set off, and she began killing demons. I followed behind to keep an eye on her and make sure no upper rank demon attacked her. I didn't kill any demons myself. Meanwhile, I went to Muiro's house to inform him that Shushi would be training at my place while killing demons.

By midnight, Shushi had killed over 100 demons, rested for a while, and continued killing. By 4 AM, she had killed around 300 demons and was waiting for more. However, no more demons appeared, so she decided to come to the place I had told her to go. I arrived shortly after as I had been keeping an eye on her.

Shushi told me she couldn't find any more demons, and I congratulated her for having killed all the demons that had been around the village and nearby villages. She asked how many demons I had killed. I told her to first tell me how many she had killed. She replied, "I killed almost 300 demons. Now, tell me how many you killed."

I said, "Congratulations, you won because I didn't kill a single demon." She didn't believe me and asked me to be serious.
