Chapter 224: The Saiyan Version of the Army of the King?
The Army of the King—this is the Noble Phantasm of Iskandar, a heroic spirit from the Type-Moon universe.
Its effect is to create a bounded field and summon an army within it. The environment inside the bounded field also transforms into a scene familiar to the user and the army.
After Iskandar was devoured by the "Black Bird," this ability was acquired by Zuke. However, because it was released through the "Black Bird," the ability underwent some changes.
In Zuke's "Army of the King," there are two types of "armies" that can be summoned.
The first type consists of "phantoms" of those Zuke has fought against and experienced their full power. These phantoms are not real people but rather projections of Zuke's impressions of them in his mind.
For example, Zuke can now summon Nail within the "Army of the King," but this Nail is just a projection, not the actual Nail from Planet Namek being summoned into the bounded field.
The second type is a true "army." Zuke can place his own army into the "Army of the King," allowing them to live within it and summoning them to fight when necessary.
However, the prerequisite is that the army must acknowledge Zuke as their "King." It's not as simple as just gathering a few subordinates and placing them into the Army of the King.
And now, Zuke has set his sights on the Saiyans—after all, if nothing is done, the Saiyans will be wiped out by Frieza. So, why not bring them into the Army of the King?
To achieve this, the first step is to become the "King" of the Saiyans. This is the fundamental prerequisite for bringing the Saiyans into the Army of the King.
He plans to move the Saiyans, along with Planet Vegeta, into the Army of the King, turning the Saiyans into his own army.
He could even aim higher—after he defeats Frieza, perhaps even the Frieza Force could be brought under his control.
By then, his "Army of the King" would far surpass Iskandar's original version.
"Frieza claims to be the Emperor of the Universe, and his spies are spread across the entire cosmos... If we just flee to some random planet, Frieza would find us in no time."
Zuke shared his thoughts with Bardock through a scouter.
And he wasn't lying. The intelligence-gathering capabilities of the Frieza Force are indeed formidable, as evidenced by their ability to locate Planet Namek in the original story.
After Planet Namek was rebuilt, its coordinates were almost unknown, and even the North Kai had to search for a while to confirm its location—yet the Frieza Force managed to find and invade it directly.
If the Saiyans simply tried to hide on some remote planet, they would undoubtedly be discovered and destroyed by the Frieza Force in no time.
"So, the only way is to enter a space that doesn't exist within this universe."
"A space that doesn't exist within this universe?"
Bardock was stunned. He wasn't aware of spaces like the Hyperbolic Time Chamber, so he was understandably confused.
"Are you sure such a space exists?"
"Of course, and I can bring the Saiyans into such a space... but the prerequisite is that the Saiyans must acknowledge me as their King."
Zuke didn't hide his intentions from Bardock and straightforwardly stated his requirement—he believed Bardock would make the right choice.
"Although it sounds a bit strange, this is the only way to save the Saiyans."
"Acknowledge you as King... so, you're planning to replace King Vegeta?"
Bardock understood Zuke's meaning—the title of Saiyan King has been held by the lineage of King Vegeta for hundreds of years.
From the title given to Vegeta during the Galactic Patrol's ceremony in the Dragon Ball Super manga, Vegeta is the fourth generation, meaning the current King Vegeta is the third.
After three generations of inheritance, King Vegeta's position as the Saiyan King is deeply ingrained. For Zuke to replace him, he would need immense strength.
Bardock's impression of Zuke's combat power was still stuck at the level it was before they went to Planet Cereal, so he was somewhat concerned about Zuke's plan.
"I know what you're thinking... Let's meet up when we have the chance."
Zuke guessed Bardock's concerns. His previous combat power was indeed mediocre, barely above average among the Saiyans.
He was still far from King Vegeta's level, so it was no wonder Bardock was hesitant about his plan.
But it wasn't a big issue. Once Bardock saw how strong Zuke had become, he would surely support the plan.
After all, the fact that King Vegeta feared Frieza was something all Saiyans were aware of. If someone could demonstrate enough strength to replace him, the Saiyans likely wouldn't object.
"It seems like you've undergone quite a change, Zuke."
Bardock, though still puzzled, saw the confidence in Zuke's tone and, after a moment of silence, agreed.
"Where are you now? I'll come to you."
The reason Zuke wanted to convince Bardock first was largely due to Bardock's considerable influence among the Saiyans.
If Bardock rallied the Saiyans, they would likely accept Zuke as their King much faster—Zuke didn't have the time to slowly change the Saiyans' views, so he needed Bardock to act as a mediator.
"I'm at the Galactic Patrol headquarters."
Zuke sat in his room and told Bardock his location.
However, after hearing this, Bardock fell silent again.
After a while, Bardock asked hesitantly:
"Zuke, you're not... captured by the Galactic Patrol, are you? Trying to lure me in to get a reduced sentence?"
Although the Saiyans were working for Frieza and, thanks to Frieza's influence, had avoided being caught by the Galactic Patrol, they still didn't have a favorable view of the Galactic Patrol.
After all, the Saiyans' actions were enough to warrant the death penalty hundreds of times over. It was hard to imagine them having any connection with the Galactic Patrol.
"Stop talking nonsense. Just come over, I guarantee nothing will happen."
Zuke laughed and scolded—aside from Merus, no one in the Galactic Patrol was stronger than Bardock. Even if Bardock wanted to escape, no one could stop him.
Moreover, Zuke was now a familiar face in the Galactic Patrol, and no one would bother arresting his acquaintances.
"...Alright, then wait for me. I should be able to reach the Galactic Patrol headquarters in about two days."
After some hesitation, Bardock decided to trust Zuke and agreed to come to the Galactic Patrol headquarters.
Unfortunately, Bardock only had access to a spherical spaceship. While its speed was faster than some of the spaceships from remote planets, it was still limited.
This was unavoidable. When Zuke first arrived in this world, he didn't know how to sense "ki," so he didn't remember Bardock's "ki."
Otherwise, he could have simply used Instant Transmission to teleport to Bardock's side.
