Chapter 218: Gabriel's "Cry for Help"
Healing Angel: "I got scolded."
As soon as Shin logged into the game, he saw a private message from Gabriel, who immediately started venting to him.
Even though Shin and Gabriel had already exchanged contact information and could easily communicate via phone, Gabriel still preferred to wait until Shin was online before chatting with him through the game's private messaging system.
It was probably some kind of ritual for her—after all, Gabriel and Shin had met in the game, so she insisted on communicating with him there.
Zuke: "Was it Vignette who scolded you? If so, I think she was right."
Upon seeing Gabriel's complaint, Shin's first thought was that she had been chewed out by Vignette again.
Vignette was usually gentle with others, but when it came to Gabriel, she couldn't help but be harsh.
To put it bluntly, it was because Gabriel's behavior was just too infuriating. Vignette considered Gabriel a friend, and naturally, she couldn't stand by and watch her friend turn into a gaming addict.
Although Shin had benefited from Gabriel selling the Horn of Doom, that didn't stop him from kicking her while she was down.
After all, Gabriel and Shin's online relationship was quite close, and by now, Gabriel was used to their banter and didn't take it to heart.
Healing Angel: "No, it was someone I met in a dungeon earlier. He said I only rely on my gear and that my skills are trash."
Even through the computer screen, Shin could almost imagine Gabriel gritting her teeth as she typed those words.
For someone who spent all her free time immersed in online games, being insulted like that was far more damaging than being called a fallen angel.
Zuke: "But what does that have to do with me?"
Shin curiously typed back—this wasn't the first time Gabriel had been flamed like this. Even before Shin joined the "Infinite Terror VR Game," he had seen similar incidents.
Gabriel's gaming skills were slightly better than the average player, but not by much. At best, she was at the level of a top-tier casual player.
Compared to Shin, whose reflexes were now far beyond ordinary people, or even Shin before he entered the mission worlds, Gabriel's skills were still lacking.
The only reason she managed to stay competitive was because she was willing to spend money. Aside from a small portion of her living allowance from heaven that went toward basic necessities and snacks, most of it was poured into the game.
Additionally, since she played a healer class, which required less mechanical skill, she managed to maintain a position among the top players, and usually, no one criticized her.
However, occasionally she would run into players who were both skilled and toxic. Those players would flame Gabriel for her lack of skill, and she would then complain to Shin about it.
Normally, Gabriel would just vent and not make any additional requests—but today was clearly different.
Healing Angel: "That guy went too far this time! I want him to pay! I challenged him to a PVP match—you need to help me take him down!"
Wow, Gabriel actually wanted Shin to step in and fight for her!
Shin was both amused and exasperated. It seemed Gabriel was really upset this time, to the point where she wanted Shin to help her beat someone up—albeit in the game.
To be fair, Shin could easily go to Gabriel's room at any time. If he used her computer to play, no one would be able to prove that he was account-sharing.
With Shin's current reflexes, dominating in an online game was a piece of cake, so helping Gabriel out wasn't a big deal.
Zuke: "But even if I do this, your skills will still be trash, right?"
Healing Angel: "...We'll worry about that later! Just help me take this guy down first!"
It was clear that Shin's comment had left Gabriel speechless. She took nearly a minute before sending a furious reply.
Seeing this, Shin could only shrug and summon "Black Bird," preparing to use "Red Hot Chili Pepper's" ability to head over to Gabriel's room.
...
A black lightning bolt flickered out of the socket in the corner of Gabriel's room, and soon Shin's figure gradually materialized.
As soon as Shin emerged from "Black Bird's" dimensional space, Gabriel rushed over, grabbed his hand, and dragged him to the bed, pushing him down onto it.
Of course, don't get the wrong idea—Gabriel had no interest in doing anything inappropriate. Her eyes were bloodshot as she stared intently at the laptop on the bed:
"It's this guy! Hurry up and take him down!"
Gabriel had a rather peculiar way of playing games. She used a laptop, which she placed directly on the bed, and she would lie prone in front of it to play.
This posture was actually quite awkward, but since Gabriel played a healer class, which didn't require high mechanical skill, she could manage.
This was also why Gabriel had immediately pushed Shin onto the bed—the laptop was right there.
After forcing Shin in front of the laptop, Gabriel also lay down next to him, leaning in so close that their faces were almost touching:
"This guy is still trash-talking! Hurry up!"
Shin was a bit exasperated by Gabriel's complete lack of personal boundaries. She was, after all, a girl, and here she was, pressed up against him without a hint of embarrassment.
Gabriel should be glad that Shin had already expended enough energy earlier with Hayasaka, leaving him in a state of post-coital clarity.
Shin glanced at the laptop screen—sure enough, someone was spamming Gabriel with private messages, and the tone was indeed quite nasty.
After reading a few more lines, Shin felt that Gabriel's plan to simply beat him in a PVP match was too lenient.
If this guy had been insulting Shin, he would have used "Black Bird: Red Hot Chili Pepper" to slap him through the internet, teaching him that there really are people who can reach through the screen and hit you.
But since Gabriel had already challenged him to a PVP match, Shin entered the PVP mode, ready to teach the guy a lesson in the game first.
Although lying prone on the bed to play on the laptop was uncomfortable for Shin, with his incredible speed and reflexes, he quickly crushed the opponent.
At the same time, in a place where Gabriel couldn't see, Shin used "Black Bird: Red Hot Chili Pepper" to travel through the internet into the guy's room and left him a little "gift."
While the guy had initially been flaming Gabriel, now that Shin was the one playing, the insults were directed at him, so Shin naturally couldn't let him off easy.
The guy would probably have to take a few days off work to recover...
