A Professor of Magic at Hogwarts

Chapter 665: Easter Holiday - (2)

"I think... it might be a bit serious?" Dawlish said slowly, his tone taking several turns in the middle. Bones smiled slightly at the corner of her mouth and then quickly composed herself. "I understand," she said solemnly, "I'll go and handle it right away."

She left with firm and steady steps, her gaze determined and forceful, exuding a hint of decisive momentum.

Dawlish stood dumbfounded in place, his mind filled with questions. Turning around, he saw Felix already tidying up student assignments, standing by the fireplace, letting the emerald green flames climb up his cheeks.

Felix waved his hand towards her in a victorious gesture. "I don't mind if Lemms skips class occasionally," he said, then disappeared. Dawlish was left gaping. Now that everyone had left, who would give her a leave slip?

Halfway through the Easter holiday, Felix finally returned to the school.

After a moment of thought, he appeared directly in the Chamber of Secrets beneath the castle. The environment here was still terrible, with dim lighting, a faint smell of decay, and traces of magic practice littering the floor. Felix murmured a Slytherin phrase, and the mouth of the Salazar Slytherin statue slowly opened, revealing the space inside.

Dozens of fantastical creatures that existed only in imagination walked out from within.

Felix looked at them. These 'magical creatures' were not really creatures, at least Felix didn't think they could compare to the intelligence of the Sorting Hat. He hoped to create true life forms, rather than creatures that had to live in the special environment he painstakingly created.

As the Thought Room magic slowly radiated from his body, these magical creatures, who were not quite adapted to the surrounding environment, became more agile. Felix reached out his hand, and a swallow engulfed in golden-red flames landed on his palm, hopping around.

"Ancient magic as a carrier, memory nodes locking memory fragments, hmm, this is like a low-end version of wizard bodies and wizard souls, but everything falls a bit short..."

The swallow's body suddenly dissipated, and the flames swirled into a golden-red vortex in front of Felix, who stared at the memories flashing in the flames, or rather, it would be more accurate to say 'recordings'. The swallow lacked the emotions it should have, and its reactions were all within Felix's expectations.

After a moment, the flames gradually subsided, coalescing into a wizard's chess piece with lingering warmth in front of him.

As time passed day by day, Felix began to transform the Chamber into a playground. The memories were readily available, but the trouble lay in the materials. With a hint of secrecy in mind, he didn't make a big fuss, but instead worked tirelessly, visiting more than a dozen places.

In between, he also paid a visit to the Scamander family to learn how to blend different environments together.

By the end of the holiday, the space in the Chamber had expanded a thousandfold, divided into more than a dozen different terrains and entertainment projects. The ceiling had also been raised, and Felix sat on a swing hanging from the clouds, overlooking the natural landscapes below.

A winding river traversed all the different terrains, starting from the snowy mountains, a thousand feet above was a plain, surrounded by vast forests, swamps, deserts, rocky forests, lakes...

The only regret was the lack of real life here.

But Felix could create magical creatures. After doing all this, Felix watched with satisfaction as the magical creatures ran around on the ground beneath him. In the lower left corner of his vision, there was still a vacant space, bare and grassy, separated by only a thin line from the stone floor and the edge.

The designated entertainment project there was the Flying Valley, but he estimated that he couldn't obtain the materials for it for the time being. Nevertheless, at least it was eight or nine tenths similar to what he remembered, and the rest could be perfected gradually.

On the last day of the holiday, Felix sat on the stone steps in front of the castle, looking up at the moon.

The surrounding noises rustled, and he grinned.

"Valen, Miss Granger?"

Two heads poked out from the bushes, one belonging to Sniffles and the other to a beaver. The beaver immediately withdrew its head. A witch appeared on the spot, Hermione trudging out with heavy steps, silently waving to Valen.

Valen took out a wand from his pocket and handed it to her.

"Um... Professor? What are you doing?" Hermione decided to skip over a certain topic that made her feel embarrassed and spoke up first.

Felix stared at the moon. "I'm just thinking about finding some construction materials... Well, it feels a bit dangerous."

"Construction materials?" Hermione looked at him in confusion, then followed his gaze to the sky, her expression half understanding, half incredulous. "You want to go to the moon? That, that's too—" She found herself completely unable to keep up with the professor's train of thought.

"Just thinking is fine." Felix suddenly became interested, asking in the tone he usually used to discuss magic, "Do you think it's possible?"

Hermione fell silent at the question.

Valen looked around with his head held high, then jumped onto the steps and stared at the bright moon with immense curiosity. It had been to many places with the Great Wizard, but it hadn't been to the moon yet. But the moon was so small, what was there to see?

"Professor, what's the farthest distance you can Apparate?" Hermione asked suddenly.

"I haven't tried, probably a few thousand kilometers," Felix said. The farther the Apparition distance, the more dangerous it became. He wasn't that reckless. However, it was generally not a problem to travel from one country to another. A single Apparition was enough to travel from England to France, while it might take two or three transfers to reach the United States.

"If that's the case," Hermione took a deep breath, "it's indeed possible. I remember the distance from Earth to the Moon is about 380,000 kilometers. If we can ensure survival in a vacuum environment, it would only take two or three hundred Apparitions—Professor, do you know about vacuum? And cosmic rays?"

"I do," Felix glanced at Hermione.

"That's good. If you really plan to... go to the moon, you must be fully prepared." Hermione said awkwardly, not knowing why she was discussing such a ridiculous topic with such seriousness, perhaps because he might actually be able to do it.

"I remember Muggles have specialized books describing the environment outside the atmosphere, and it must be done step by step. Any rash and reckless behavior could lead to serious consequences. Professor—I absolutely do not want your name to be recorded in some strange way, like that fool who rode a flying broomstick to the moon—" her tone grew more urgent and severe.

"I understand, I understand," Felix said dismissively.

"This is no joke!"

"Ah, it's my fault. I promise you, I'm just thinking about it. I currently have no plans for long-distance travel."

"Professor, do you swear!"

"Uh... Is it a magical oath? That won't do..."
