Chapter 8: Chapter 8:The Descent into Darkness
Elias retraced his steps through the hidden path, the golden feather glowing faintly in his hand. As he walked, the walls of the cavern began to change. The veins of gold grew thinner, replaced by jagged, blackened rock. The air grew colder, and the faint hum of the mountain's energy faded into silence.
Soon, Elias found himself standing at the edge of a vast chasm. Below, darkness stretched endlessly, but in the distance, he could see a faint, pulsing light. It was unlike anything he had ever seen—a deep, golden glow that seemed to beat like a heart.
"The Heart of Aurum," Elias whispered.
There was no clear path down, only a series of narrow ledges and crumbling outcroppings. Elias hesitated, his mind racing. The mountain had guided him this far, but this felt different. This felt dangerous.
He took a step forward, his foot slipping slightly on the loose rock. The golden feather in his hand glowed brighter, as if urging him on. Elias clenched his jaw and began his descent, carefully navigating the treacherous terrain.
