Chapter 1208: Roman Legions
To prove his point, Archer created a mana screen into the Chull and Nightmare Ant colonies, which horrified the city lord. The man's face went pale and a horrid smell reached his nose, causing him to cringe.
'Ew, disgusting,' he thought with annoyance.
He cast Cleanse on the human before warning him, ''If you piss yourself again, I'll make sure your wife will become food for my ants.''
The man agreed with an obedient nod and started leading him through again the castle. Archer noticed the Legionnaires guarding the hallways as the Drakeguards looted the place under his order.
Twenty minutes later, the city lord led Archer to a massive metal door, its surface weathered and impenetrable, defying all attempts by his soldiers to breach it. His curiosity piqued as he studied the trembling man standing before him.
''Open it. Now,'' he commanded, his voice cold and unwavering.
The terrified human hesitated, but then nodded frantically, fumbling with a hidden mechanism. The door creaked and groaned as it opened, revealing a dark interior. Before the lord could retreat, his hand shot out, seizing the city lord by the neck in an iron grip.
''You're not going anywhere human,'' Archer spoke before throwing him to one of the Oathkeepers.
Thalion caught the city lord while he stepped into the vault where he saw hundreds of chests of gold and silver coins. His eyes gleamed with greed before sucking everything into his Item Box.
Once the vault was empty, Archer left him behind as the Oathkeepers followed behind as he scanned the outside through the windows. The fires that plagued the city were being put out by the legions as they helped the people.
While walking toward the castle's hall, Elara appeared with a worried expression as she revealed as she trembled with anger, ''Husband, some of the newer Legionnaires have been caught violating some of the sun elves.''
Archer's expression darkened with fury as he processed the news. His voice dropped to a menacing growl, each word laced with cold authority. ''Bring them to the courtyard. I'll deal with them personally.''
The redhead gave a sharp nod, understanding the gravity of his tone, and quickly rushed off to carry out the order. He continued walking until appearing outside and noticed the smell of smoke wafting through the air.
Legionnaires stood guard all over the place while Dragonblood Knights led in a dozen Drakeguards, who were tied up. When Archer saw them, he got angry just as he saw some of the victim.
Without speaking, he walked up to the first family and noticed it was a tanned-skinned woman in her thirties with three children. As Archer got close, he spoke with a apologetic expression as he noticed the blood on her legs.
''I'm sorry for what my soldiers did to you,'' he said in an honest voice, which shocked the woman. ''Let me heal you at least.''
Archer cast Aurora Healing on her and the children before taking out a small pouch of gold while handing it over, ''Take this and restart your life. There's one hundred coins to help.''
When the sun elf woman heard this, her lifeless eyes sparkled as she took the offering as he approached the prisoners and spoke, ''Each of you will watch them suffer more than you ever did.''
Without warning, he grabbed the first Drakeguard and let out a deep growl as he raged, ''You dare make me look like some barbarian, you stupid elf! Did you think you could get away with raping these people?''
Archer summoned his claws before using Mana Manipulation to create a pole that he connected with the struggling man. Following that, he started skinning the rapist while the ex soldiers let out a bone chilling scream.
The Fire Elves looked horrified, but he quickly noticed the pleased expressions on their faces once they got over the fear. Archer took out more gold pouches and handed them over to Thalion, the Oathkeeper commander.
''Give one to each family. I'll heal them once I'm done punishing these idiots,'' he revealed, causing the knight to salute.
Afterward, Archer started skinning the man while numbing some of his pain senses, which allowed him to remove most of his skin. When the harem members saw this, they went pale, but Elara's blue eyes sparkled in fascination.
Once he was done, there were a dozen skinned men and women hanging on poles for Emberport to see. With a wave of his hand he cast Cleanse on himself thanks to all the blood that covered him, thanks to the torture.
He then turned back to the victims, who clutched the pouches Thalion had given them. Speaking in a compassionate tone, he said, ''As you have seen, the men who wronged you have paid the ultimate price. Even though they were Draconians, no one is above my laws, not even my own men.''
The sun elf woman looked at him with fear in her eyes, causing him to sigh before signaling for the soldiers to take the people away. Once they were gone, Archer turned to Teuila, Talila, Ashoka, and Sia, who were ready to help him.
He looked at Elara and ordered, ''Send the 2nd, 10th and 13th Legions to the mountain passages to defend against any attacks.''
The redhead nodded with a radiant smile upon hearing this. Sia approached him with a playful grin, wrapping her arms around his shoulders and pulling him into a passionate kiss. When they finally parted, she looked into his eyes and said, ''So, it seems I'll be heading west with the 10th, darling. Will you come to see me?''
Archer chuckled but nodded, ''Of course I will, I'll get everything sorted here before coming to see you and Talila at the passes,'' he explained with a charming smile which made the older woman's heart race.
Following that, the silver-haired Talila appeared with a sweet smile, but he quickly grabbed her chin and gave the beautiful woman a kiss, which made her whole body go stiff as she enjoyed it.
The couple continued kissing until they broke apart and she spoke in a cheerful voice, ''We'll hold the northern passage until the other legions move out.''
Archer nodded in understanding just as the two women left Emberport behind and led their armies to the passes to stop the incoming Duskfire and Alliance forces. Teuila and Elara appeared with curious expression.
''When do you want to send out the 17th, 18th, and 19th, my love?'' the redheaded dragonkin woman asked. ''We should capitalize on the invasion and push forward.''
He glanced at Elara while thinking before responding in a curious tone, ''What approach do you suggest? I'm thinking we send the three legions toward the nearest city.''
Ashoka stepped forward with a determined look, ''We can take the west, my love. My Legion's training specializes them in jungle warfare.''
Archer glanced at the tiger woman with a charming smile before nodding, ''If that's what you want to do, but Teu is accompanying you for extra power.''
The blue-haired beauty agreed with a nod. ''I'll come Ashoka, there's a giant river nearby that I can explore while we march.''

''Send the 17th, 18th and 19th north after the first counterattack,'' he informed the three women. ''The 1st can stay back at Emberport in reserve as they need to rest after taking the beach this morning.''
Elara, Teuila and Ashoka nodded in agreement before rushing off to prepare their soldiers while he appeared on top of the city walls. Archer looked around only to see some of the 1st repairing everything and improving the defences.
'I'm glad I modeled our forces after the Roman Legions.' He swelled with pride as he continued thinking to himself. 'That decision, years ago, was a stroke of genius. Only five hundred men and women were needed to take Emberport. When the three legions march out, they'll carve a path straight through the Duskfire Empire.'
Following that, Archer sat down and pulled out some burgers before eating, which caught the surrounding soldiers' attention. This made him laugh but gave them some of the Earth food, which surprised the men and women.
While this happened, Talila's Legion left Emberport, followed by Sia's 10th and the 13th. Archer watched them leave until they vanished into the vast grasslands on three separate roads that led to the passes.
As he relaxed, Elara appeared beside him only to revealed, ''Olivia has sent the 3rd Fleet to cover the city while the 1st and 2nd patrol the surrounding sea.''
Archer nodded with a small smile. ''Good, I expect more Alliance fleets to attack, but the last time I asked Aisha, she said there were close to a billion enemy soldiers on Avidia. That doesn't count the sun and water elves, lion demi-humans, and demons.''
''The sea elves and demons will be hard to defeat in open battle. They avoid them and ambush our patrols or attack the walls,'' Elara said while scanning the distant hills.
