A Different Smallville

Chapter 109: Chapter 109

Outside of the small episode with Lucifer, Leonardo's life mainly just revolved showing up on set when needed for the movie. When he had a bit of time or a few hours to himself, he would hang out alongside Kara, Raya or Aurora. Mainly to chat and keep up to date on a few of their projects or thoughts.

Such as Raya releasing some software and games that set off waves apparently. Her work being very groundbreaking, a few big companies are making skyhigh offers in order to buy it. While Aurora studio is still growing and apparently having a mixed review among the masses. Due to her targeting both normal and erotic sides, it led to confusion among many.

Yet despite the mix review, her studio continues to grow among it all. So much that apparently a few large scale companies are beginning to target her due to the threat she poses for their interest. Since the more she earns, the less they earn, thus are beginning to actively target her.

Just what makes Leonardo the saddest was the lack of progress on getting Kara's memories and powers back. It seems that Jor-El is able to return them somehow, but refuses to do so. Apparently she had too much good happening to her during her punishment, so he felt he must extend it for one reason or another.

"Is it a man or a plane?"

Reading this morning's paper of Daily Planet, Leonardo looked at a blurring picture of something apparently flying into the sky. Letting out a small yawn, he tilted his head to the side wondering if Clark is taking on his hero's duties already. However, he felt it shouldn't be so, since Clark still had a lot to learn before he was ready for his suit and cape. Hell, even Leonardo felt he still had a ways to go before he was ready for such a role.

"Hey, Clark, is this you in the paper?" Leonardo just chatted to the air.

"No. I was wondering if it was you?" Clark answered not long after.

The strange thing was Clark wasn't nearby nor did either of them use a telephone. It was a trick they used years ago to talk to each other when Leonardo was meeting Aurora's family. However, neither tended to use it much, for now there were more kryptonians able to listen in and would make it a bit awkward.

"It wasn't me either and definitely not Kara." Raya joined. "I will be taking Kara up to the Fortress and attempt at getting Jor-El to reverse his brother's reverse card. It's the only place that got the equipment to try such a thing and even then, I wouldn't know where to begin."

"Haven't you been working on it for over a month at this point?" Clark asked, confused. "I thought you would have some idea."

"I am a research assistant, not some know it all miracle, Kal." Raya huffed.

"Someone is moody." Leonardo lightly laughed.

"Well, when two boys interrupt my beauty sleep with their cross country talking. You would be moody too." Raya retorted. "So what do you guys have planned today?"

"Not much, just going to relax since I got a day off." Leonardo said happily.

"Chloe is visiting me to talk about--who are you guys?"

Leonardo tilted his head as Clark seemed to be attacked. Which shouldn't be much of an issue, since Clark should be able to handle himself. Then he sighed since it seems Lionel Luther kidnapped him in an attempt to protect him.

"Well, I guess, I will go rescue Clark." Leonardo sighed. "So much for a rest day."

"Should I help?" Raya asked.

"Worry about helping Kara. It shouldn't be too much trouble." Leonardo replied as he headed towards his shower. "I will get ready for the day first."

"Clark has been kidnapped and you don't seem worried." Raya sighed.

"It's not the first time or the third. You get used to it with him." Leonardo laughed.

True to his word, Leonardo got ready for the day before he left to track down Clark. He already had a solid idea who did it, since the team who captured Clark talked to the mastermind. Hence, Leonardo just headed to Luther Corp and decided to have a small chat with Lionel.

--

"It has been a while since we last met, Lionel." Leonardo sat upon the Luther Corp rooftop.

Upon seeing the older man before him with shorter black hair with some gray in some strains. Leonardo didn't give off much awe or fear of others upon meeting the man. For unlike Lex who has yet to learn this man's charisma despite being around thirty. Lionel still carried himself with some grace and didn't come off so unhinged or like a madman like Lex lately. Well, from what Leonardo has been told.

"I didn't expect to see you, Leo. What can I do for you?" Lionel asked, showing a bit of surprise.

"Oh, you seem to have improved a bit, but you're still trying to play dumb in front of me. Lionel, I can read you like an open book, but I give you props for trying." Leonardo lightly clapped.

It was true, clearly Lionel was practicing to hide his body language and keep himself calm to not give away much. The issue was he tried it on Leonardo, but if it was before oher experts, he might be able to get away with it. Such a shame, Leonardo was just that much better at it.

"There is someone after Clark," Lionel hesitated for a moment then began. "I received a note today, and I felt the need to place Clark somewhere safe until I found out who gave it."

Leonardo wondered why Lionel was spilling it, but only felt it was part of the reason. So he could only give the man a few light claps of the hand. Since, Clark or most others would probably leave after hearing that. A few nasty comments, but still leave.

Sadly, he wasn't one of them.

"Is it so much the unknown note or what your son has been up to lately. He managed to avoid prison after one of his clone laboratories was exposed and bodies flowed down the river." Leonardo said. "Now, I believe he is chasing memories or trying to track down things remaining from your secret club from years ago."

Leonardo noticed that Lionel seems to stiffen a bit at the last remark. So he felt it was also part of the reason for Clark's kidnapping. It was to protect him from Lex too, granted he doubted it much since Lionel seems to have hired one of Lex's former leading thugs. A man who absolutely hates meta-human or those with abilities and belongs to the category, a good meta-human is a dead meta-human.

"Lionel, just release, Clark. Use this "mysterious" person to train Clark's hiding ability while you can still cover him a bit. It's better to do this now then when you are gone and if he messes up. Well, we can deal with it one way or another." Leonardo said.

Lionel just stayed silent on making no movement to agree or disagree. Since he felt what he was doing was for the best. So a few words won't sway him.

"Clark will take to the sky one day when he is finally mature and ready. The world will watch as he stands at the forefront protecting them and the planet. Many will be curious who he is, what he does and will go through great lengths to discover it." Leonardo began. "Now, I rather he learns how to deal with such a situation when it's manageable, not when the various governments in the world with no bottom line are trying."

"What about yourself then?" Lionel said. "Won't you be the same? While the masses in America might not know, you made quite the splash in Korea a short while back. Many saw you holding up that bridge that was collapsing."

"In time, maybe." Leonardo replied. "Just release Clark, or I will. Clark isn't a toddler who needs a parent to watch over him all the time. I will give you a couple hours."

"Are you threatening me?" Lionel looked gloomy as he said this.

"No, it's just the choice of having a million dollar equipment or scrap metal that used to be worth millions."

Leonardo soon left the rooftop through the elevator since he simply didn't fly there. He booked a short appointment with Lionel which just happened to be on the rooftop.

Once Leonardo left, Lionel stomped his foot, but in the end decided to agree. However, upon calling Pierce who he hired, Lionel learned he might have hired the wrong person.
