A Different Doraemon World

Chapter 17: Lowly Being

"The Peaceful Faction tried to delay the decision, hoping to observe human progress and see the good side of humanity. That's why I was sent to Father's side —the greatest scientist in human history.

Unfortunately, the more we observed, the more images of humans killing each other we witnessed.

We saw the smoke and flames of war, humans blown into countless bloody fragments on brutal battlefields, and the blank, expressionless faces of artillery operators.

We saw countless people in tattered clothing endlessly killing each other, using various methods to take lives. After killing their opponents, they would even hang their corpses on poles to flaunt their dominance.

Killers and the killed—both showed the same madness on their faces.

We saw thousands of tons of food wasted while millions of starving people struggled on the brink of death.

We also saw that Earth's inhabitants showed no respect for other living beings. They hunted recklessly, slaughtered indiscriminately, and caused countless species to vanish from the planet. Even worse, humans were too foolish to realize how vital Earth's environment is to their survival, and they went all out in destroying it.

After witnessing all this, we concluded that no matter how much humans evolved, their nature remained rooted in their origins as beasts. Their animal instincts had been inherited and deeply ingrained, impossible to eliminate. Humans are, in truth, still just a low-level species incapable of controlling themselves.

Humans are laughably primitive. Over the smallest defect, you can resort to brutal killings. You are too foolish, too lowly!"

Everyone was left speechless by Doraemon's words. Nobita and Kelly's faces were especially pale, while Karen gritted her teeth and said, "This reasoning is completely illogical. Low and high grades are relative. In the vast universe, humans might be considered primitive, but on Earth, humans are the most advanced species! And isn't selfishness a natural trait of living beings? Don't all living things act selfishly to survive?"

Doraemon shook his head, firmly refuting, "No. Even on Earth, humans are primitive. Your selfishness isn't simply for survival—it's a kind of blind greed. You don't know when to stop, nor do you understand how to share!"

Karen struggled to find a retort. After a long pause, she finally said, "Humans aren't only about killing and greed. Human progress is rooted in sharing, unity, and solidarity!"

"Then do you know how much humanity's foolishness has set back its own civilization?

Not counting the envoys we sent to help you, even among humans, there have been exceptional individuals celebrated in history. Take Einstein, for example. You often think that if Einstein had died in the chaos of war as a child, human civilization would have regressed significantly.

But the truth is, Einstein was merely one of the few fortunate enough to survive amidst countless other geniuses who died before reaching their potential!

On one hand, you feel lucky for your progress, but on the other, you continue slaughtering the geniuses of the future!"

At this, Doraemon closed his eyes in anguish and said, "Originally, the Peaceful Faction still held hope of salvaging the situation, but humanity simply refuses to awaken!

The ultimate goal of any species is survival—to find ways to extend life and improve its quality. But Earth's humans have made destruction their primary objective.

Humans can create weapons capable of destroying all life on Earth, yet they have no effective methods to combat deadly diseases!"

Karen fell completely silent, for everything Doraemon said was an undeniable truth.

There are too many incurable diseases. If humanity could channel all its resources and energy into saving one another, how different would the world be? Would it be a more beautiful place? Perhaps…

Finally, Karen took a deep breath and asked in a hoarse voice, "So you believe humans have no redeeming qualities at all?"

Doraemon, his voice choked with emotion, shook his head. "No…" He lifted his gaze toward Nobita and softly added, "Not entirely devoid of good…"
